I stayed at the Manchester airport site for one night. My room was smallish, but well stocked, quiet and comfortable. Hotel is older and quite charming. No elevator. Staff is very helpful and there is shuttle service to the terminals. There is a bar area and small restaurant with a limited menu. I don't think there are any other eating options within walking distance but I could be wrong. My dinner was fine. My vodka martini was undrinkable, but I have concluded that there simply is not a decent one to be had in the whole UK, so this little hotel is to be forgiven for theirs as well.

Excellent overall. My only complaint is that there was no room to open my suitcase, other than using the floor.

I had a lovely time, I was picked up at the airport promptly, the staff were friendly, the overall atmosphere was lovely. The room was quaint, clean, and cozy. There was no noise, the restaurant had a nice menu variety, the wait staff were courteous, I enjoyed the fact there was also a separate bar that served food giving someone options. It was very convenient for being close to the airport but yet I heard no noise from planes. I was returned to the airport the next morning within 5 minutes. I would and have already recommended people stay at this facility. I have traveled all over the world and in living in America I realized there was a choice of larger hotel chains at the airport that I am familiar with, but I wanted something of a more personal experience rather than the typical large hotel chain. This hotel more than met my expectations, as a former Brit, I loved that there was a pub as well as a restaurant and the fish and chips were excellent. Definitely will not hesitate to stay at this establishment next time I visit the UK.

Walls need painting. Carpet pulling up from floor. A portable oscillating heater in room was covered in dust. Bed was hard. Hotel staff were helpful.

Hotel needs some updates...Main area on first level OK..Bar and dining area nice but when we went to our room the smell was really bad..fousty...the manager came immediately to check it out and apologized and gave us another room...the staff where really helpful and helped us with our car drop off and took us to the airport in the morning....Would stay there again as it is very close to the airport....

Checking in was good...our bags were handled quickly and efficiently....using WiFi was easy....room was not too comfortable....had to change room because the bathroom light wasn't working...why didn't housekeeping take care of this? Rooms were small...no amenities....hair dryer was permantly attached in a drawer...Why? Toilet needed two flushes to clear. Restaurant food was good...service average....ordered dessert and a latte...dessert arrived but not the latte! I canceled the latte...waiter said, I thought you wanted it after the dessert. He never asked me. He did apologize. No bread served with dinner! We've stayed at Etrop three times...this will be our last time.

We traveled from Dumfries Scotland to Manchester with several sites inbetween (Durham, York, and Cotswolds) . It was a delightful trip.

Nice airport hotel, nice staff, great transport to airport. Easy access. Would stay again any time!

This was a very charming, convenient. hotel to stay prior to an early morning flight from Manchester airport. Not your ordinary airport hotel. Staff was very friendly, accommodating. The older building is beautiful with an outdoor patio with tables, a conservatory room for tea, bar and dining room. There is a nice little park with a pond next door if you have time to walk there. Also a courtesy car to the airport which is close by.

We arrived late and left early and received great service. The room was small, the bed high, trouble for 5' 2' F getting in. The faucets old and leaky!

The bed was extremely comfortable but, since I am under 5 ft. tall, I had to ask for steps to climb into it! I thought the cleanliness could be improved on & the plumbing in the bathroom was archaic! The noise from the upstairs plumbing was unbelievable but, fortunately, no one used it during the night - to my knowlege. Otherwise, it's a quiet location within a short shuttle ride from Terminals 1 and 2. Breakfast is not included in the price but I didn't have time for any in the morning until I got to the airport.

Quick pickup at airport, friendly driver and clerk at checking. Rooms OK but variable, get first floor if you have heavy luggage as no elevator. Meals very good.

We had two rooms. Our room was OK. Our friends room a/c did not work. They had contacted the management and I thought it was fixed. After we left, our friends told us that they were told that some work and some don't. Theirs was never working. It was a very worm time in England and even with the window open it was very warm. Since our friends are European and used to non a/c rooms they put up with it. Had I known, I would have complained. I did not find out until we checked out. They hotel should have at least reduced the rate for the one room. Other than that, the hotel was fine. Clean and good food at the restaurant.

Super convenient for airport. Nice room, but no elevator. Lots of free parking. Nice restaurant -- a bit pricey: 15 GBP for a hamburger? Nice common areas, free wifi was great. I'll stay there again.

I was surprised when I found this hotel online; extraordinarily low price, almost on the airport grounds, free shuttle, and based on the photos way more charming than the usual airport generic cube. They lived up to all the promise. From the time I called from the airport rail station to the time the shuttle arrived was under four minutes. We pulled up just moments later to an old brick manor. You can see airport parking lots from the front drive, but the grounds feel isolated and welcoming. There is outdoor garden seating for guests' use. My room was down a rabbit warren of hallways, but once inside it was well appointed and comfortable. Free wifi, lots of TV channels, lots of outlets...the things a traveler looks for. I admit that I didn't explore the hotel restaurant or whether there are any options nearby; I was there only from evening to early morning. But, the dining room looks inviting. The next morning, my return trip to the airport (with the same friendly, chatty driver) took but a minute. No advance reservation or notice necessary; just ask when you're ready! I end up often in airport hotels, and I've come to accept that most are simply a filing cabinet for people on the move. The Etrop Grange is a very welcome alternative!

Simply put, my stay at the Etrop Grange was amazing. The staff are all incredibly kind and accommodating, their restaurant had very good food for reasonable prices, and the entire hotel was rustic and gorgeous. Since the hotel is a three minute drive from the airport and a major train station, they actually provide complimentary shuttling to and from between 6am and 10pm, which made getting around extremely easy. Best of all, the staff respected our privacy and never bothered us when the Do Not Disturb sign was on the door; rather they left our new towels and amenities on the floor outside the door. They even included a new roll of toilet paper, which surprised me but showed me that they're considerate to your needs without you even saying anything. Ultimately, it was a wonderful stay and I would definitely stay there again. It's conveniently placed, it's very quiet at night, and level of customer service they have is impeccable.

Just what I would expect from a traditional small English hotel. Very friendly staff and helpful. Cose to airport (about 10 minutes). Will use again if I use Manchester airport as a destination.

My first room was a bit snug, I asked for another one and was rewarded with a beautiful room from which I got to view Manchesters' New Years Celebration of fireworks. The restaurant food was lovely and the service was warm and attentive. On the minus side just a few hiccups. A) lipstick smear on wine glass B) A spot of mold behind the bath tap C) Check out girl not up to your previous check in staff

This is the greatest little gem of a hotel, right in the middle of the airport. You would NEVER believe that you are within 1/4 mile from the manchester international terminals. It is very quiet and quaint, the staff is friendly and efficient. My only issue- If you are not traveling with your own computer, they do not have a public one for use.

Beautiful if you like historic homes, really lovely hotel with a bed-and-breakfast feel. Helpful staff, great free airport shuttle. My only complaints were that the main page claims they have free wifi when in fact it is a £6 charge, and the amenities booklet claimed there was in-room climate control and there was not. No big deal, i wasn't staying long enough to care about the wifi and an open window made the room cool off fine. But truth in advertising is important. Regardless, i'd gladly stay here again!
