I have spent 10 wonderful days in the opulence that is the Hilton in Malta. Revolving front doors leads to an oasis of marble with double height views to the blue pools overlooking the sea. Check in was easy and professional. Our porter was very friendly and exemplified all the staff at the Hilton, professional with the air of treating you as family. We were lucky to be staying in an executive room with access to the executive lounge. Is it worth it? Definitely! You can have soft drinks all day from breakfast to 10pm. The complementary tea and cakes at 3pm were delicious. Scones with cream and jam and too many cakes to name here! I am gluten free and was not left out! Evening drinks and finger food start at 6pm. We had plans to go out but stayed in many evenings as the ambience was so lovely and food and drink plentiful. The staff once again excelled themselves. We especially liked John, Claudia and Francesco - I hope I got their names correct. You will meet them if you come here! Our room was stunning. I will miss sitting on the balcony in the early morning sunshine. The king size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was opulent! We had our own round bath tub and separate large shower cubicle. We do not normally have baths but could not resist one here - although it took a long time to fill due to its size! We liked the small touches of the staff and especially looked forward to seeing Marlon’s latest towel creature creation! We had elephants to seals - very clever and a lovely touch. The weather was nice when the sun shined and we even managed to sit by the beautiful hotel pools in late November. The water was too cold to go into but the atmosphere very pleasant. For swimming there is a large indoor pool with a lane for adults and children were welcome up to 6pm. The sauna and steam rooms were lovely. The gym is large with lots of equipment from cardio to free weights which kept my husband busy most mornings! The gym was being updated on the last few days of our holiday - it will be interesting to see if they add new equipment. There is a studio with free classes including yoga but we did not try these as we run out of time. The Thai restaurant, the Blue Elephant, is really beautiful and the food quality very high. Definitely worth a visit while staying here! The marina is lovely with interesting yachts to admire and many large fish. They liked the bread we fed them! There are lots of restaurants in this area. The Indian restaurant Sharma was very good. We also recommend China House around the side of the Marina (opposite the Pizza Hut in a side road). Delicious Chinese food and vegetarian and gluten free friendly. If they do not have a gluten free menu, you are in the wrong restaurant! The local buses are very easy to navigate around the island. We managed to see Sliema, Valletta, Mdina and Marsaxlokk. Mdina was like a set on Game of Thrones! There is so much building work going on the island, we hope they do not spoil the old world charm of the buildings. It looked like lots of modern buildings replacing the old yellow bricked homes which create the charm on the island. I have never seen so many cranes in one place! Overall, I would thoroughly recommend the Hilton Malta. The hotel, staff and ambience are amazing. We can’t wait to return.
I arrived in the hotel just after midnight on a rainy night. The hotel helped to pre-arrange the transport to pick me up from the airport for €21, which is quite reasonable. Please note that this has to be paid by cash directly to the driver. Check-in was smooth and easy, so extra brownie points here. They had arranged a room with a marina view which was nice. But I had a bit of a surprised when I got to the room and found there were 2 queen beds. Okay, I guess it’s my problem as I don’t like the idea of having an extra bed in my room. I called the concierge to see if I could move to another room but they were unable to arrange the move at that point. (They eventually proposed to move me after the second night but as I was only staying for a total of 4 nights, I finally declined.) Other than that, the room was very nice and comfortable. My room, 606, had a very Mediterranean feel, with huge white lamp shades and white and blue furnishing. There is a balcony which offers a lovely view of Portomaso marina and a set of garden table and chairs if you like to sit outside. First thing I did was ordered room service. Selection of in-room dining is rather limited, especially after 11 p.m., but if you are really hungry, that is not going to be a problem. You can also try to ask them for something off the menu, like I had a side of fries, which was not on the menu. Service was swift and food was nice. Just one point - if you don’t want to wait for someone to collect the tray from your room, you should leave it outside by the door. As the tray was rather heavy, and I had a bad back, his was quite a challenging, all the while trying to make sure I don’t lock myself out of the room... There is a huge bathtub in the bathroom, and strangely, speakers connected to the telly, which you cannot mute as long as the telly is switched on. They provide nice toiletries which I appreciate. There’s also ironing and tea making facilities, a mini fridge (with a little space for your personal use), lovely and thick bedroom slippers and a safe. One point to note, there are many power points in the room! There’s one at almost every spot, and there’s even some where you can charge directly using USB cables. There’s a decently sized work table and chair and a lower set of table and chair where I took my in-room meals. WiFi works well in the room, but not so well when you’re out on the balcony. Breakfast buffet was included with my room and is available at the restaurant on level 3. There’s a nice selection of cold (cold cuts, salad, fruits, cheese, etc) and hot food (bacon, scrambled eggs, baked beans, etc), cereal, bread loaves, juices and sweet pastries. There is an egg station where you can customise your egg orders. On Saturdays (or maybe everyday but I just did not notice), you can even help yourself to Prosecco. On my last day, as I didn’t have to rush to work and it was sunny, I sat outside on the terrace and it was really quite lovely. Try to get breakfast earlier though as I noticed the the crowds really started to pour in towards the end. Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. As usual, location is key for my choice of hotel. And Hilton is in an excellent location in St Julian’s. Portomaso is a quieter area in St Julian’s, which I tend to favour over the crowded areas. While it is situated slightly further from the happening area, a.k.a. Paceville, there’s enough amenities around to make it very convenient. Within 5 minutes walk is the Portomaso Bay area with a few eateries and on the other side (near the casino) is the Portomaso Shopping Mall with a decently sized grocers in the basement (which you can conveniently access via lift). If all else fails, Paceville is about 10 minutes walk away, so is the Spinola Bay area. There is absolutely nothing to fault with the service staff in the hotel, everyone from the concierge to the team cleaning the rooms, has made it a very pleasant and memorable stay. Definitely my go-to home away from home.
Spent 5 very enjoyable days at the Hilton Malta. The management and staff could not be more gracious and attentive. Hotel has great facilities, contemporary look and a convenient location. It is no wonder that it is the highest rated hotel on island
Our stay at the Hilton Malta was absolutely fantastic. By far one of the best hotel stays my wife and I have had. The service provided by staff is outstanding - from the duty manager, concierge, reception staff, restaurant/bar staff and even the domestic staff, they were amazing. We were made to feel so welcome and ensured we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. If we had a problem, they dealt with everything so swiftly and professionally. Breakfast was delightful! So much on offer and all great quality. Food provided by the restaurants on-site again were delicious, from the Thai to the Mediterranean. The meals can be quite pricey but they deliver on flavour. My wife and I both had massages at the Myoka spa, and they sure do know what they're doing. We will definitely be returning to this hotel and look to stay even longer next time.
I came here for business for a conference and I cannot fault the hotel . The service was perfect at all times . I was even given a late check out without asking. I was at a conference so did not really have time to explore the area. St Julian's doesn't seem that picturesque but the hotel's location on a headland is stunning . There are several swimming pools with views across the bay . My room was spotless with two massive beds. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice - although it took a while for my coffee to arrive on both days . If you are coming to Malta for business or pleasure I can recommend .
Just had another lovely 6 days to celebrate our Anniversary...everything was perfect. Huge thanks go to Francesco, Carles and John in the Executive Lounge and without doubt the best duty Manager in the world... Marika. Many Thanks again....to every member of staff.
Undoubtedly one of the best Hiltons I have been to. The overall quality is extremely high; the view of the hotel foyer is captivating upon first glance once you enter the hotel, coupled by the excellent views of the sea from there and in the Executive Lounge. The location of the hotel is also very good for a walk about around the cafes and restaurants of St Julians at night. Highly recommended.
I came here for a week's break by myself, to rest after an extremely busy period at work. It was just the tonic I needed. By far the nicest Hilton I have stayed at. Extremely professional and friendly staff. Very accommodating and keen to make your stay the very best it can be. The room did not disappoint and the view over the marina was spectacular. And the spa is a must. I will definitely be returning in the future. This is a gem on the island.
A great experience from check in to check out! Despite colder than normal weather the warmth of everyone at Hilton made the stay totally enjoyable. Door to door pick up for hop on hop off city tours a plus!
The staff were extremely polite, well-mannered and ever so helpful. They really made us feel welcome. The buffet breakfast was heavenly. A great variety of food items ranging from sweet, savoury and live cooking. Everything was delicious. We also dined at The Blue Elephant. I really recommend this during your visit. The service was excellent, the ambience delightful and food exquisite. We also received complimentary drinks during our meal which were equally delicious. Thank you for making our stay so magical :)
