I really liked this hotel, one of the best I have stayed in around the Med. Unfortunately one selfish guest really spoilt it for us and I cannot understand why the management of a 5* hotel could allow it. I am talking about smoking in the dining area at breakfast. No-one wants to eat inside in the wonderful weather we had, the problem is that to go in to collect food and come back to our table we had to go past someone who sat just by the door every morning and drank coffee whilst smoking at least 5 cigarettes. It would be illegal in England, obviously not in Spain but the management spent a good deal of time talking to this person but not once did they ask him to stop this vile habit that made breakfast a poor experience.
Stayed here for 3 nights. Overall very nice hotel. Room was a good size and very clean. Small balcony with 2 seats and a table. Service was very good. Staff friendly although for a 5* could have been more attentive, e.g. coming round pool area asking if we required drinks etc. The pool area was quite small but there were some free sun loungers. This may not be the case in peak season. The breakfast was excellent with a wide range of choice. The location was good as it was practically on the beach, although the resort itself was pretty average - not overly run down but certainly not classy. Lack of decent restaurants in area. Lots of German themed bars with plenty of teenagers/young adults shouting and singing drunk all day and night.
I visited The Garonda for a long weekend with a friend of mine and we had a lovely trip. When we arrived we were shown to our room which was overlooking a restaurant rather then the sea which we had paid extra for, the receptionist was quick to show us 2 other rooms. The last one he showed us met our needs and we were happy. The cleanliness of the hotel is second to none and our room was always spotless when we came back in the afternoon from the pool or beach The breakfast was also really good and there was a good selection to chose from Location is good as there are lots of bars and restaurants in walking distance and you also have the beach right in front of the hotel which is fab. we did get taxis a lot though as we had plans to meet friends in other parts of Palma which was fine When I left, I managed to leave some clothes in the room which at first the hotel was a bit slow at getting back to me but the hotel manager got involved and was really helpful and was quick to get the issue resolved. The clothes were never found but the manager has reimbursed me for the lost items which is so nice! A wonderful hotel with lovely staff - I would go back in an instant!
This is a true 5 star it is our 2 stay here.It is a modern hotel not to big lovely rooms and very stylish bathrooms. It is facing a great beach but the hotel doesn't have its own area. We paid to have a lounger on the beach but the hotel has pool overlooking the beach so you have a choice. Very good breakfast and staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance.
Beautiful, clean rooms with stunning views of the beach and sea. The breakfast had a wide variety of choice and service was excellent. The sun arrives on the back sun loungers first around the pool. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and I had sent an email to say it was our anniversary and we mentioned it as we arrived but the hotel made no acknowledgement of this at all. A little disappointed with this - a little 'congratulations' would have been a nice personal touch. The resort is totally geared with the German tourist with some restaurants having no English menus, it can have large groups of men/boys of Germans but all good natured. Be careful with pick pockets. I had my purse stolen from my bag which was over my shoulder seconds after coming out of a restaurant; went to the police station and there were 6 other tourists there all having their phone/wallet stolen. Police had a desk full of stolen (empty) wallets and purses.
The hotel was excellent in all ways. Room spotless and kept so throughout our five night visit. Pool area had the most comfortable sun loungers I have ever laid on however one negative was that the pool area was in the shade until 11.00 and as we prefer to have an early start this was a little disappointing. Wonderful range of food at breakfast and excellent service from all staff. We were on half board: ate twice in the hotel fine dining experience, twice in L'Arcada and food was of a good quality little disappointed with the tapas restaurant as good didn't appear to be that fresh. The resort has a long sandy beach and promenade with shops, bars and restaurants. However you need to be aware that this resort is geared towards German tourists and other nationalities are in the minority. There are also large amounts of young and old groups of German men who can be rather loud at times. Overall we had a great five days within the hotel complex.
This hotel, smack in the middle of the Platja de Palma, is a perfect oasis for adults looking to fill their days with sun, sand and surf. It is a beautiful hotel, the staff were super friendly, our room was tastefully appointed and the bed comfy. It also had a great view of the sea. My wife enjoyed her spa treatment and while we did not use the pool, it was nice to be able to take towels from there to the beach. A highlight of the hotel was the terrific breakfast buffet every morning. With wonderfully fresh options (fruit, juices and baked goods) and a huge variety of choices it was one of the best breakfast buffets we have ever had. Now the location. Platja de Palma is a five kilomoter (+) stretch of sand and hotels a 20 minute cab ride southeast of central Palma. (About 10 minutes from the airport) It reminded me a bit of Miami (south beach) near Lincoln Road or the Castelldefels area south of the airport in Barcelona - hotel after hotel hard by the ocean, shops verging on the edge of seediness and lots of faux restaurants that serve faux cuisine that cater to tourists, not locals. (For example, Platja de Palma was full of German restaurants!) Nothing wrong with this type of scene mind you, but I want the reader to know what type of area you are in. It's also not the quietest area as you have loads of stag and hen parties and all types of bellowing visitors enjoying themselves from sun-up to well after sundown. As noted above, if you are looking for culture, history or good restaurants, you are a good 20 minute cab ride to Palma's la Llotja area from the hotel. If you are looking for a cheaper option to get into town, however, both the 15 and 25 buses head to the city center (placa de la Reina) quite regularly and run right by the hotel. Fare is 1.50 Euro per passenger and takes about 40 minutes one-way without traffic. If you are looking to head into town, talk to the front desk as they will give you maps, make reservations for you and help you navigate the transport issues. The beach is steps from the hotel and for 16 Euros daily you can reserve a recliner on the sand. If you want to upgrade a bit, you can rent two recliners with padding and umbrella for 45 Euros daily. Seeing as our whole plan was to read and relax, we opted for the more expensive option and enjoyed our padded seats. While there was no beach service (food or drink) - it was easy enough to obtain a few steps away. The beach itself is clean, the waves gentle and the water cool and refreshing. All in all, if you are looking for a great beach hotel with a pool and don't mind being a bit of a distance from central Palma, then I would highly recommend staying here. NOTE: we did not eat any meal other than breakfast at this hotel. We semi-whiffed on our noshes at Mikel & Pintxo the first afternoon (tapas were not very fresh) and decided not to push our luck.
This hotel did not disappoint for the price point. It is 5 star but not stuffy. It has a fresh youthful vibe and everything is done well. Rooms were nicely furnished and appointed clean and well cared for. (I will say the mattress was in the hazard and stiff side). Quiet. Breakfast(full buffet) is a steal at 10 Euros (if you purchase when you arrive). We enjoyed the beautiful outdoor pool area as well as the spa and indoor pool and sauna. This is an adult only hotel and I liked it that concept. There are lots of loud partying groups of young people but they don't party here!
I have just returned from a weeks break at the Hotel Garonda and absolutely loved it! The location is fantastic and you can chose between a day by the pool (a little more sheltered from the sea breeze!) or the 2 min walk to the beach where you can rent a couple of sun beds and a parasol for just over 16€. If you want to upgrade there is a beach club next door and they are 45€. Couldn't see the point personally as you have all the hotel facilities so close! The staff were lovely and very helpful. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel but the breakfast buffet was great and wide ranging (with free bubbles if you wanted it I think!). Some lovely restaurants nearby - Asadito was really nice and is next door. Loads on the strip in front that you can chose from too and if nothing there is about 15mins and 20€ taxi ride to get into central Palma. There is a bus as well but didn't investigate that! The spa is great - probably one of the best massages I have had in my life - Ritual Mineral, 90 mins of bliss! My only criticism is that if you are flying out in the evening and want to freshen up then you may have to wait for the spa changing rooms to be free. Quick tip - don't bother getting transfers from the airport - it's about 10 mins and less than 20€ one way! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxed (child free!) break!
We chose Pure Salt for a weekend away without the kids so we didn't want to hear other people's kids all day long. It was a good choice. We also wanted easy access to the beach, which is a few steps away. It is a public beach so very crowded. Highly recommend spending the money to reserve nice lounge chairs and an umbrella. The general area is very touristy and crowded. If you want to feel secluded, go somewhere else. We wanted convenience to beach and other things to do, so it worked out perfectly for us. The hotel is very nice with helpful staff. The included breakfast is excellent with a Diverse selection of proteins, fresh fruit and juices. The food did not run out near the end of breakfast hours so no need to rush on your vacation. But they do start cleaning up so give yourself time to relax and enjoy the view. Otherwise, do not eat at the other hotel restaurants. The tapas bar is not good. Enjoy your free drink when you arrive and keep your expectations low if you are hungry. The seafood did not seem fresh and other dishes Las led flavor. Go into Palma for dinner. The Area of La Llotja is very nice with lots of restaurants. The Abaco bar is a can't miss. Looks like a set of a Felini film. Enjoy La Isla Bonita!
