Its a great Hotel to enjoy a few days in Paguera. Nice family run hotel close to the beach, with well equipped clean rooms, mostly with see view. We loved the great restaurant with good and fresh food. Try spaghetti carbonara.
Just returned from the Diamante which is now classed as a hotel rather than a hostal. Presumably this is as a result of the extensive refurbishment which has been carried and which has been done to a very high standard. The quality of the fixtures and fittings installed is extremely good , as is the quality of the workmanship. The refurbishment also includes the hotel's exterior and it now looks far more attractive than the photo shown on most websites and benefits from a stylish modern lift and a lovely roof top sun terrace. As others have mentioned, the rooms are small (if ours was typical) but this drawback is offset by the many good features which the hotel has to offer and I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place at a very reasonable price in Paguera.
A very well appointed, modern and spotlessly clean " Hotel" think the word Hostel may make some think of YHA but it definitely isn't. The on suite rooms are well appointed with comfy bed and a balcony. Breakfast was lovely fresh fruit, cereal, continental and hot options and really nice juice ( not the watery machine sort!!!) Sea view roof terrace with double / single sun loungers ( very comfy) and a feature shower if you need to cool off....you can call down for a drink if you want too....it's family run and friendly. Restaurant with great choice and a cocktail to finish was excellent. Just a few steps to the beach with beautiful sand and safe swimming and a lovely walk along the streets looking in the wide variety of interesting shops made it a place to come back to again.
Pros: Neat rooms, lovely, spacious terrace on the 4th floor, location (next to main boulevard), 3 minutes walk to the beach, surprisingly good breakfast (a great choice of food, ability to order from the a la carte menu). In conclusion - perfect place for a short stay in Mallorca. Cons: Elevator didn't work (It was new, soon to open) - it wasn't a problem for us to climb 4th floor where we lived, but for elderly people this might have been a problem. Hotel (as well as the whole city) is rather suited for Germans, who are a majority of tourists there. But it still a better option than groups of drunk Brits in other parts of Mallorca. You have to pay for a tv and a/c remote in order to use any of it. No parking spaces nearby (it was a chore to find a place to park, since we rented a car to travel around the island. And it was mid April - I can hardly imagine how hard can it be during high season).
We picked the hostal on the basis of price and reviews. We were a bit put out to arrive and be told we would be spending our first night in a neighbouring hotel. We had booked and paid some months in advance so it was hard to understand how this had happened. We were rewarded for accepting the situation by the offer of breakfasts when we had paid for room only. when we moved into the hotel the room was clean and recently renovated. It was functional but lacked the fridge and kettle we had on our first night -additions that we would value. The location is excellent. We found we were happy to spend time in peguera and the hostal near enough to pop back for a shower or a snooze! Breakfast was good although geared to Germans who made up the vast majority of guests and probably made first claim on rooms . We would recommend Diamanté if you are looking for a simple, clean excellent value for money.
We stayed recently for 4 nights and it exceeded expectations! If you are looking for top value for money I'd recommend Hostal Diamanté. The decor is wonderful and a warm welcome. Breakfast is perfect there is a good continental breakfast selection along with bacon & eggs. Rooms are not as spacious as some hotels but with the balcony we spent loads of time soaking up the evening sun
Came here after disappointed with the place we originally booked. Luckily they had the last room available for the days we needed. Like the other accommodation you have to pay for Wi-Fi in the room and the safe deposit box. This surprised my as my first trip to Spain, this seemed customary not to have a safe box included. The rooms are cosy and very clean. There is a large wardrobe and side table shelves. The hotel (as it warrants) has been refurbished for this year and there was aircon in the room which was very handy. Also they now have aircon in the dining areas. In the bar area there is free wifi available and here you can enjoy some basic, tasty homemade food/snacks for lunch/dinner. Breakfast had a large variety of items to choose from. It seemed the custom to self clear your table which we were happy with. As this is a family run hotel, we thought it nice that they closed up shop Sunday afternoon, for a few hours. Francisco and his family are great hosts and we didn't begrudge them some quiet time. You can access the hotel 24 hours with your room key. I guess this does not get a three star rating as there is no pool and the restaurant has a simple menu. If you want a grand hotel then don't come here but if you want family friendly service with a smile this was great. We had a room with a balcony sea view. To be fair you do get the sea but this is not a beachfront hotel. The sea view balconies do however benefit from having a lovely sunny aspect.
I stayed at the Hostal Diamante, Paguera, for 4 nights during late June 2013 and on a bed and breakfast basis. The Hostal is situated just a two minute walk from many shops, bars and restaurants and an excellent beach. On arrival I was greeted by a charming and helpful receptionist and was allocated a room on the second floor overlooking the street, with a view of nothing much other than other hotels in the vicinity but with a narrow view of the sea to the left. The room was spacious with twin beds, contemporary furniture and fittings, TV and balcony and had an en-suite bathroom with walk in shower. As with most hotels, there was a safe in the room that was available to use at a cost. In my opinion safes should be free to use. The room was, like the rest of the Hostal, very clean. Breakfast was taken in a ground floor dining room with smart contemporary furniture and comprised an array of very good hot and cold dishes, with a variety of particularly good warm bread rolls and decent filter coffee. The breakfast surpassed those of many three star (and one notable four star) hotels that I have stayed in previously. There is a sun deck on the top floor with new sunbeds and furniture, ideal for catching the sun. I don’t know what criteria separate a Hostal from a Hotel but whatever the criteria I consider this Hostal to be superior to many Hotels I have stayed in. All in all this is a top quality hotel in a great location, with friendly and attentive staff, superb breakfast and represents excellent value for money with 5 Star comfort at 3 Star prices. Based on cleanliness, comfort, service and value and my little gripe about the safe aside I would be more than happy to stay at the Hostal Diamante in future. Note: there is a regular bus service that will take you into Palma for a few Euros but take care to get the 'express' bus that takes approximately 20 minutes and not the service that takes two hours.
Nice small hotel in a 3 min. walking distance to the beach. It looks like it is recently renovated, at least the rooms. They are not too big, light, have very nice neat, modern and fresh design, light wood with pastel purple accents, cool lighting. It was very pleasant to be in the room and chill out from the heat of summer. Every room has its own balcony with a table and two chairs. No elevator. As I write about the seaside hotel, worth mentioning that it does not have a pool and no sea views. There is a safe, conditioner and TV in the room, BUT you need to pay for the remote controls if you want to use. Nice trick. So if you choose this hotel, would be good to buy in advance Dijit remote device for iPhone and you can use them free of charge. No fridge, fan, cattle or iron, no wifi. The room is furnished with bed, bedside shelves, sitting puff, side desk and enough spacious wardrobe, what we especially value. Bathroom has shower with hose. They leave soap, shampoo and shower gel. Towels are changed frequently. The small window in the bathroom is facing shaft. Service is ok, not more. Room maids are entering without asking (knocking while entering). You're lucky if you stop the door in time. Otherwise there are no complaints about room making, everything was changed on time, room was always clean. Breakfast is served in a quite stuffy room without conditioner. And it looks like it was not yet renovated up to the rooms looks level, table decorations look dusty. Food is basic, there is 1 type of cheese, ham, lots of bready stuff, yoghurts, jams, juice and coffee. Utensils and dishes were not always perfectly clean. For some reason it is expected from you to clean after yourself. When the time of breakfast is over, you're gently insinuated to leave the room asap, by putting off lights, making loud noises with utensils, pulling curtains and wiping your table with the cloth.. In general we liked the hotel, it is only the customer service that needs improvement. About the area. The beach is very nice and clean, one of the nicest in the area. We come there not the first time. Paguera has plenty of cafes and restaurants but it can be boring if you stay only there. We recommend to rent a car and drive around the island, there are a lot of hidden gems.
This recently renovated hostal is better than most 4* hotels... the rooms are new and very clean, the beds sleep wonderfull and the shower... well it is a real shower! Not raindrops... the bathroom is very small but is has everything you need, and ofcourse thats what you pay for. The hostal has no service but there is a restaurant beneath it which is like a canteen, but also cheap. Unfortunately there is no seaview, eh... if you take a good look between some buildings you can certainly see a hint of sea, but I have another idea of seaview. Well, thats forgiven... great and cheap hotel wonderfull location!
