Stayed at los principles & spa in April 2015 was a lovely hotel with great facilities,we stayed half board and must say the food was lovely and so much choice in fact was so good we are returning this year
Stayed October half-term, single mum with teenager daughter. Booked as a late deal with Thomson as a relaxing week in a good standard hotel. Rooms: on the small side but clean, well furnished with a good balcony - 2 comfy reclining chairs! Mini fridge but no kettle which is strange for a 4* hotel. Could be because they try to squeeze extra money out of you at each opportunity. Take a travel kettle and tea bags. Beds like concrete, my back is still in agony. Pay the extra for a sea view as the rooms on the back have a horrible view. Great shower. Ample storage. Room safe £15 euros a week. Pool towels provided. Facilities: fab spa with heated pool (free to guests) and a warm covered pool so you can swim even if the weather is chilly. Main pool spotless. Lots of sunbeds although hotel was quite empty so not sure how busy it gets in high season. Grassed area butts up to beach, shaded areas available. 12 Euros for 2 sunbeds on the beach. Beach golden and clean, sea shallow, calm and clear for a long way out so ideal for children. Beach bar food ok, inconsistent, drinks expensive and coffee grim. Main bar cocktails expensive and inconsistent, like many things about this hotel it depends on who serves you. Wi-Fi charged at 15Euros a week and you can only use one device at a time. Entertainment mostly dire - usual pub karaoke type warblers and a parrot show. Male duo quite good. Nothing much going on during the day but we went for peace so that suited us. No blaring music - for that reason we may come back. Service: excellent reception staff. On two occasions the useless, disinterested Thomson rep was asked for help by us. Once we enquired about horse riding on the beach. He said it wasn't available anywhere in the area (there were leaflets clearly displayed on reception). Reception rang for us, within minutes they had organised it for us. We asked early in the week about departure pick-up times on Sunday so we could plan days out. Rep said he'd let us know on the Friday. No rep Friday, no rep Saturday... at 9am Sunday still no rep or departure time info!! Asked reception...phonecall made and list produced in minutes. Come on Thomson, this is not acceptable is it? Food: we were half-board. Breakfasts faultless. Evening meal inconsistent but mainly good. You won't go hungry but often ingredients were cheap "catering" standard. I don't expect a slice of Asda Smart Price quality cheap and nasty swiss roll as a dessert in a 4* hotel, or tinned fruit. I had to laugh at the "Homemade Apple Pie" one evening that was clearly bought and was still frozen in the middle! food not very hot and mostly very bland. No drinks included, not even water so again this bumps up your bill. Lots of recycling of leftovers as usual but food hygiene standards excellent and didn't hear of any Spanish tummy troubles at all. You are allocated a table supposedly for your stay but we kept getting moved as numbers reduced over the week, which I didn't like. The area feels safe to wander about. Buses cheap and regular. Overall we had a lovely holiday and it suited our needs. I'm not sure it would be so great in high season. Would we return? Yes, if they improve a few things, charge a bit less and replace the concrete beds.
It was only a 5 day / 4 night stay but it was very enjoyable. The hotel is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious and plentiful. It's right on the beach as well. The spa was also a bonus. We'd be happy to return.
I stayed in 3 hotels in Alcudia, the Playa Esperanza, the Playa de Muro and the Los Principles which was the one with the lowest quality. We had the suits next to the road on the backside of the hotel which seems had been empty for quite some time as the room was quite dusty and the distance to the main road made it quite loud especially during the night. Access to the beach was nice and clean also the personal were very friendly, up to the standard you can expect from a 4 Star Hotel. The buffet was ok but nothing special and lowest of the 3 hotels mentioned earlier and beside that had no Nespresso Coffee Machine. Overall a hotel I tend to forget, except you stay with Huerzeler Travel for Cycling then it is very convenient as the shop is in walking distance.
Great location just on the beach and close to nice restaurants and shops. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Can be very busy so might need to wait, but not because of the staff not trying. Very good food at restaurant buffet. Rooms have high quality materials, but a number (not all) elements are dated. Mediocre beds. Could use more natural light in rooms.
Just returned after a two week visit to Los Principes. We did our airport transfers with Balearic Transfers- excellent and highly recommended. The hotel has a wonderful location, right on one of the best beaches in Majorca and an easy walk to Port Alacudia and the old town. The hotel staff were so friendly and good humoured from the cleaning ladies, who did a wonderful job,to our waitress,Hanna, and the jolly chef,Chubby. The bar staff who were so friendly and entertaining even joining in on the tribute to the Beatles with manager Pedro giving a great take off of Ringo Star. The food etc.in the hotel was excellent and we would also recommend the Swan bar and restaurant nearby for mid-day snacks and drinks. When you book this hotel on line you get free wifi and there is very good reception throughout the hotel and grounds. Our only complaint with this otherwise wonderful hotel was the beds which were very hard and slid apart very easily. Not the best for sleep or cuddling.Bed toppers were available on request which improved things a little. Hoping to visit this hotel again in the future and who knows maybe they will have installed king sized comfortable beds and make it the perfect holiday.
This is our 4th visit to the hotel and it continues to be simply the best. what makes the hotel, are the staff. The reception welcome continues the whole stay and they are excellent nothing is too much trouble, the restaurant service is really good and the food excellent and varied. In the bar Pedro and Martin are excellent hosts and always happy. the bistro serves lovely food if you can eat any more after breakfast. the location is wonderful and the beach just heaven. The GM and all the staff are on the ball and every thing runs to perfection. We are here for another week and booked for May next year, treat yourself and visit this brilliant hotel.
Having just returned from a week in this hotel, I have no hesitation in highly recommending it. From the moment we arrived, in the early hours of the morning, to be greeted with coffee, juice, fresh breads, cheese etc, to the moment we left, we felt nothing but looked after and very, very welcome. Facilities are good, spa is lovely, rooms spotless and comfy, and the food was fab. If I wanted to be picky, I would suggest they provide water with the evening meal, just a little thing, but would have been good. Otherwise, a really special place that caters for any age and need, look forward to returning again very soon!
I read lots of reviews on here before booking this holiday / hotel The resort lacked something for me ... A busy road right through it from Alcudia to C'an Picafort ... Too spread out / not enough bars I can't put my finger on it but as I was hotel half board based I wanted to get out of an evening / day and wander and enjoy soaking up a new place . It lacked something , not family orientated , not couples or groups , it hasn't got any wow in any area. The beach Beautiful 7km of sand but too packed not barely an inch between sun bed locations and spaces on the sand jammed full of people Walked to the natural park area believing it would be dune like as the beach ended before another resort began ... No it was set back across the busy road The sea lovely calm and shallow with plenty of activities to hire pedalos/ para glides / banana boat etc along the shoreline The hotel Nice , clean ,spacious inside and out , staff friendly and helpful Had no problem getting sun beds by pool or on the grassy are before the beach Entertainment... Mixed bag , more average than good ... Elvis was great got the audience going . Food, self service buffet / breakfast and evening Plenty of choice at both , got samey after a week but that's the same in most hotels , slightly disappointed in this as previous reviews gave it excellent ratings for food , Mexican and Spanish nights the best , plus a lovely steak one evening cooked freshly at the live cooking station. You are supposed to have same table each time but mine was moved as another table was pushed together for a larger group to have then someone else used it for breakfast , then in the evening the name card had totally disappeared , had to re ask at the host station and got re seated elsewhere in the restaurant Didn't use Spa but service for pool towels cannot be faulted Drinks reasonable price , happy hour on cocktails 17.00-19.00 Room . Air con wasn't working first night this was fixed next day , asked for more pillows and they arrived no problem, mini fridge bar expensive ... Just remove stuff and buy your own drinks from the Spar at the end of the road . Bathroom clean , room serviced / towels changed everyday Twin beds always in a double room abroad so annoying as can't cuddle up without falling down the middles as they slide apart ! Balcony small and shady with two chairs and a table as we were on the back of the hotel with a slight sea view but overlooking blocks of apartments at the rear, not the nicest look. Only heard the bin collection once and that was the first night as slept with door open to cool room . Wouldn't return but that's more the resort than this hotel . Great location but just not for me !
I visited this hotel in July this year and must say I was impressed with hotel. The lobby was spotless and very nice, the staff were very friendly and helped us book days out. However, the only disadvantage about the hotel was the room I stayed in... I didn't have a very nice view as it was at the back of the hotel and I was looking down on an alley way, and at night all I could hear was people emptying bins full of glass and there was a slight smell.. Another fault with the room was that it was extremely hot and I do not think there was air con. On the other hand, I could not fault the cleanliness of the hotel itself. All the staff greeted us every morning and asked how we were. The location is perfect, you can walk straight on to a long stretch of beach. Also, you are right by the little pier where you can do all the boat rides. There are also a lot of shops around the hotel. I would definitely like to go again!
