Just had an excellent meal and sampled the local wine. A good start to our holiday in Mallorca. Hotel is ideally sited a short distance from the centre of Palma with excellent views across to the port and cathedral.
We have just visited for 3 nights, to celebrate 2 special birthdays. There were 9 of us and all of us absolutely loved it!!! Lovely hotel, great rooms, wonderful pool area and spa. Beautiful views too. Yes it is a distance from the old town of Palma with all the fab restaurants and bars but we preferred being here, with all the space and facilities. It is 8 to10 euros for a taxi in and only takes 10 minutes. The staff are fantastic. So friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us. Special thanks to Eugenio at the front desk for all his help and the wonderful restaurant recommendations. We will be back!!!
We stayed for 1 night in September. Was a bit unsure of the hotel when we arrived as they struggled to get our reservation correct - we were half board and they stated we had only booked B&B. After sorting out our booking we were given a room on the 4th floor overlooking Palma and the Port - amazing views. Sitting on the balcony enjoying a bottle of wine was fantastic. The pool area was lovely although it became windy and the sun umbrellas started to blow around in a rather unsafe fashion!!! The restaurant food could be better. It's expensive eating in the restaurant so the food has to be really high quality and it wasn't so definitely an opportunity for improvement. It's a taxi into Palma so I the location is good if you want to go into town. Staff were polite and friendly. I would recommend the hotel and we would definitely return. A week rather one night would have been better we were sorry to leave and never got the chance to use the Spa.
We visited the Valparaiso in August/September 2017. Arriving late at night, we were greeted by very friendly reception staff who gave us a glass of cava each and got us a table in the restaurant (we managed to get in before they stopped serving). The rooms were lovely - really clean and well-equipped, and the bathroom supplies were of a high quality. The food here was really well-prepared and tasty, although there was a slight lack of variety for the half-boarders at dinner (some recipe recycling was in evidence). However, the breakfast buffet here is something else - the choice was vast and really fresh. You could have cava for breakfast if you so desired - although I only did that once. The pools are splendid and well-maintained, and - best of all - there were always plenty of sunbeds, meaning that there was none of the unedifying bed-hogging that you often see in holiday resorts. There was a large supply of fresh towels for guests to use every day. The pool contains salt water (for ecological reasons, I assume), so I would recommend goggles for anyone who likes swimming. There is also a magnificent spa for guests to use, with a fabulous indoor / outdoor pool containing various water features that blast your achy muscles with warm water. Treatments are extra and quite expensive - made especially so by the currently feeble pound sterling - so I didn't book any. Nonetheless, the sauna, steam room, relaxation rooms and other spa facilities were very diverting and everything in the spa felt very high-quality. The hotel is situated on a hill and, if your room faces the harbour, the views over Palma are fantastic. It is about a 35-40 minute walk down into the city centre along the harbour front, which is really picturesque. Alternatively, a cab costs around 8 Euro. In the other direction, Cala Major beach is about 20 minutes away on foot along a busy road. The staff were friendly and professional throughout our stay. Overall, I would say that it is most suitable for couples and families with older children. We would definitely return if we were visiting Palma again.
We stayed myself and my two boys for a week breakfast was fantastic the reception staff were really helpful and funny my kids loved asking questions and booking taxis We all now it's in a hill and yes we all now it's not in the middle of everything It has some fantastic pools and food is good mine you my boys only eat pasta It's clean it's big and people need to stop writing reviews on items which are clearly obvious like "it's miles from anywhere" really is it the brouchure tells you that. It's really nice to go into Palma nova or magaluf and come back to peace polite and quiet time. Yes some people didn't like my kids jumping in and out of the pool but whatever if you don't like kids go to sandals !!! Really good would go there again and omg £3.00?for a taxi to central Palma lots of restaurants really cheap
Please don't even think about staying at this hotel, if you would not rent a car in Mallorca, or if you enjoy dining at nice restaurants and bars (they are too far from the hotel.) We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was disappointing that only 2 coffee capsules provided in the room at the very first night was complimentary. It could have been provided every day at least even for those who stay there longer than just one night. The pool restaurant was ok and staffs were kind... but the food itself was not that tasty. If you consider the price, i would not be back to this hotel.
We stayed at Valparaiso for 9 days while in Mallorca for a wedding. The whole experience was excellent, the small touches were done exceptionally well which really makes the hotel deserving of its 5 star status. The best things were: Breakfast with a wide selection of excellent quality and excellent service (there is an entire gluten free section which was fantastic for me). The spa is incredible, so luxurious. The pool areas are wonderful; plentiful sun beds around both pools and a good temperature, you can go down late and always find 2 sun beds together. They were amazing at catering for my gluten free diet and the staff were very attentive and friendly. The best thing was (at a busy time of year) the hotel always felt quiet and relaxing. Some small downsides: The hotel is in need of a bit of modernisation in a few places (reception and the standard rooms) but it looks like they are tackling this. By no means is anything worn or dirty, it just doesn't look crisp and modern. You do need to be willing to get taxis everywhere (€5-€10 to Cala Major and Palma), there really isn't anything worth doing in walking distance. We were well aware of this before we came and we're very happy with the location but it is something to keep in mind.
I stayed at the Valparaiso in June. It's a very good hotel and I suspect one of the best closer to Palma. The location is good, albeit not in the centre of Palma. It is towards the top of a steep hill so not particularly good for anyone who has mobilitilty issues but if that's not a problem, then the bus stop into town is right outside the hotel entrance (or taxis are available). Buses are every 20 minutes (buy a book of 10 tickets on day one if you plan to use the bus regularly). There is a shopping centre about a 10 minute walk down the hill (and a very steep walk back) where there are some (average) restaurants. If you like to be slightly away from the hustle and bustle, then this hotel is perfect. Rooms are spacious and clean, good sized balconies, British TV channels (eg BBC1 and 2 and ITV, not just the usual news channels). The bathroom was excellent, extremely spacious and one of the better ones I've experienced. Very clean all round. Staff were helpful but not overly so. Two lovely large pools. Restaurant was ok but the food wasn't the best (we only ate there twice, so maybe we chose badly) and pretty expensive. Breakfast was good - quality, choice and comfort. The downside was that it sometimes felt like a low cost airline - any extras came at a cost - so this is why it is not in my opinion 5*. On day one, there were limited sun beds available, so we took one of the only free ones (four poster doubles) but were promptly asked to pay for those beds, as they were reserved for guests on a certain floor. We didn't want them particularly so the pool man did mange to fine us alternatives. The real downer for us was that although there was a coffee machine in our room, we only had capsules for the first night. After that, they were chargeable - I think that's a poor show as I would expect in room tea/coffee to be included in a 5* establishment. Usually we keep our used bathroom slippers but we thought we'd better ask if that was ok - just as well, as we were advised that we could purchase them if we wished. I'd like to think they don't re-use them, so seems mean not to let guests keep them. All in all though, we had a fabulous time - well worth a visit.
I stayed with my family in August 2017 for 10 days, from the beginning the staff were very polite and helpful. The rooms and hotel are very clean. Housekeeping are brilliant. We ate in the hotel restaurant most nights, the food and service are outstanding. I will definately come back to stay and would recommend this hotel!! One of the best holidays I've ever had!!
We stayed here with our two teenagers for a second time in July and are planning to return on our own for a short break in September ... it works on so many levels. The staff are unfailingly cheerful and helpful, the housekeeping is excellent, the food is fabulous both in the pool bar and the terrace restaurant and the indoor and outdoor pools are large and clean ...... there is also poolside service for food and drinks. There is lots to do in the area with a good shopping mall within walking distance and a great choice of restaurants both in Palma and up in the hills, where the views over the bay are stunning. The breakfast prices are quite sporting at £25 pp though, so we avoided! We don't normally return to the same hotel and I did wonder if it would live up to expectations after our first successful stay .... but it very much did so, which is why we will be returning soon.
