We were very impressed with this hotel. Straightaway from arriving in the lobby we were greeted by friendly reception staff (and it was late at night), who were very helpful and even offered us cold buffet food if we hadn't eaten. The hotel reminded us of an African lodge in appearance, all of the communal areas were superbly clean and the landscaped gardens were well maintained. There were multiple accommodation blocks around the hotel grounds, we were located in block B which was well placed near the reception, pool area and bar. The room was clean and tidy, slightly disappointing that it had two twin beds despite booking a double room. The decor was a tad dated but this didn't really bother us. We thought it was a bit bizarre that you paid £17 for the safe and a £3 deposit, in other hotels it would normally just be a deposit. The jewel in the crown of this hotel were the sports facilities - there were numerous Tennis courts and astroturf football pitch / volleyball area. We used on a daily basis the amazing pool area and spa which were very impressive. An indoor pool flowed onto an outdoor pool which was well located away from the Children's pool and therefore was very peaceful. The relaxing spa facilities consisted of 3 jacuzzi's, a ice cold plunge pool, a therapeutic pool with various jets and 2 steam rooms, 2 saunas and a solarium. The facilities were cleaned daily and no children were allowed in the area with steam rooms and saunas. We had a half board stay and this worked really well for us. Breakfast was served between 8am - 10.30am and there was a wide variety of food. For dinner there were two seatings, one at 6.30pm - 8pm and one at 8.30pm - 10pm. We normally had dinner at 8:30pm as it had less children around, and meant we didn't have to rush. The lounge bar in the hotel was a wonderful place to relax after dinner or before we went back to the room for the evening. One of our personal favourites was one evening they had a very talented piano player, and we listened to him for 1.5 hours while enjoying cocktails. The Hotel is settled within a wonderfully quiet and relaxed resort. Nice views of salt flats from the front of the hotel, a short 10 min walk to a peaceful beach with beautifully clear water. It was easy to walk from the hotel to local bars and restaurants. We recommend 5illies for amazing cocktails and tapas. We also enjoyed Sangria and live Jazz music at Bieda Bistro. We really rate this hotel and area as it is so peaceful and relaxing and would come back again.
My sister in law was desperate for a holiday and some sunshine, we were given the task of persuading my brother to come for a week, he hates flying. When we persuaded him we were then given the task of booking flight gets and accommodation..... no pressure !! We booked this hotel and it was fantastic... they LOVED it, food terrific, staff excellent, room was upgraded to a suite, how much better could it get ? Well through in great weather, and us showing them the island which they loved, and I’m sure they will return ...thank you Blau Colonia !
The hotel had a central building, separate three story residential blocks, plus a spa and sports facilities, all set in large, well maintained grounds. In the second week of September it was busy but not crowded. It catered for predominantly German customers, mainly more mature couples and younger ones with pre school children. As non German we did not feel excluded in any way. The atmosphere was relaxed and low key, not for those seeking a more boisterous holiday experience. Staff were friendly and efficient. Leisure facilities were extensive and varied. The free spa with saunas, steam rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzies, gymnasium, free towels was a great feature. Our suite was very acceptable with good cleaning arrangements. Evening entertainment varied from some that was very professional to some that was less so. The hotel provided free wi-fi throughout. Food choice was good and well presented. We had only two criticisms, one relatively minor and that was very important to us. On arrival reception was very efficient and we left our cases to be delivered to our suite. After a long journey we were anxious to change and explore but case delivery was very slow. Secondly and unusually today, there was no indication of allergens in food. My wife suffers from Coeliac disease and a mouthful of food containing gluten would have ruined the holiday and perhaps entailed a hospital visit. Overall however our experience was very good and we would return.
Friendly staff, good night entertainment. Show for everyone. Very well design with different buildings, did not feel crowded. Although, it's time for them to do bit of renovation for the rooms. Started to look but tired. Otherwise perfect for family or couple. Something for everyone.
Positioned at the border of Colonia St Jordi village, this "caribbean" style resort had whatever we needed to stay one week without annoying one second. POSITION AND SURROUNDINGS Es Trenc is like 2 Kilometres from the hotel and it's really a beautiful beach! STRUCTURE Located in a big park very well mantained this resort has 5 different building (our was the 4 and had 2 levels) spared in the park. There are mainly 3 swimming pools: one fully dedicated to kids with a "galleon" in the centre, one dedicated to adults and part of the SPA, a complex of more swimming pools for everybody and with a bar. Very nice the possibility to order at the bar directly from the swimming pool :-). In addition there is the SPA which I did not visit. There are tennis courts, gym, bar/pizzeria... Animation all the day and night. The level of the food in the restaurant is high and there is a big variety of everything. Tables and chairs very comfortable. ROOMS We had a "suite" with two rooms and a terrace. The dimension of the room was generous and the terrace very nice. The quality of the furniture is a little bit poor and not very updated. The bed was supposed to be double but it was two single beds one beside the other. The quality of the mattress was VERY poor since there was a small mattres positioned on top of another one which was "too much used". Wi-fi very bad working during the day but in the night if you try it will work VERY well. Insonorization of the room was very bad (you could hear the water of the other rooms) TIPS AND TRICKS They give you a towel for every single person for the swimming-pool and you can change it every day. So, no towels needed from home. There are 2 shifts for the dinner: 18.30 and 20.30. The half board does not include the beverages, even the water. There are external parkings (for free) for the car and you can easily find the one which is closest to your building. Our building was the number 4 and I think that together with the number 5 are the best: they are a little bit far from the restaurant (like 5/7 minutes walking) but it is also true that they are far from the music in the nights. So, if you have small kids and need to go to bed early in the nights, these are the best options, in my personal opinion. The Miniclub starts from 2 years old. There is a frequent bus (for free) direct to the beach.
We stayed here for 8 nights with our 11 and 14 year old boys. We had a suite which was ideal for the four of us. Every where in the hotel was clean and well looked after. The grounds in particular are beautiful and very well maintained. All the staff we met and spoke with were very friendly and helpful. There were not many English speakers there which we didn't find a problem, in fact it was nice to be very much in the minority. The food, considering it is mass catering, buffet style, was of a high standard with a great variety of foods. The pools are great and the fact that you can go in th spa as a family made it quite special. The animation team work hard and put on some excelllent shows. We had a great time and would highly recommend this hotel, and location.
We have stayed twice before at another Blau hotel in Majorca so had some expectations and were certainly not disappointed. This hotel was fabulous, set in beautifully kept grounds and had everything we wanted and needed. Wonderful pools with the lifeguards making sure one pool was kept free of inflatables for a relaxing swim. There were 2 other pools so something for everyone. Being able to swim from the outdoor pool into the indoor and then spa pool was refreshing in the heat & made us feel quite spoilt! Lots of sports activities available, gym, good quality cycle hire on site so again, something for everyone. There was a regular bus from the hotel to a lovely beach but it was actually only a 20 minute leg-stretcher after a fabulous breakfast. Even better for us though was the smaller beach and marina which was just a 10 minute stroll from the hotel with some lovely cafes and restaurants. We wished we'd found this earlier! The guests consisted mainly of non-English Europeans. It was nice to recognise some staff from the Blau Punta Reina who were very welcoming and lovely to chat with. Evening meals had 2 sittings - ideal for families to take the earlier sitting as they had the kids shows to follow. We chose the later sitting, so mainly adults, finishing in time for the nightly entertainment which was mainly cabaret style with a couple of shows from the Blau Animation Team. All in all a wonderful hotel, good value for money, set in a beautiful part of the island.
Well. I should start by saying if you want to be surrounded by rowdy, football-shirt wearing, Full English eating, Sun-reading blerts: this is not the place for you. It.is.fab-u-lous. It's half-board and if you want to have egg and bacon every morning: you can. Or. If you want fruit and yoghurt:you can. Honestly I can't do the food enough justice. All the food is fresh and 3 help yourself islands. Breakfast is sit anywhere, tea (as us Northerners call it) is 2 sittings. 6.30-8 or 8.30-10 & you are allocated a table for this and they encourage you to attend the same sittings. Again the food is great. They had Majorcan specialities on one night(as well as the usual excellent fayre). There is a paella every night - sometimes a meat one other nights fish. A chef who cooks that night's meat or fish special to order on the grill. Plus dishes of everything from lasagne to duck. Loads of veg and salad choices and deserts to die for. Moving on from food... The facilities are brilliant. There is a spa which is linked to an indoor and outdoor pool. Saying 'spa' doesn't do it justice:3 jacuzzis, ice-cold plunge pool, plus an adult-only area of 3 saunas, steam room. The rooms are a bit basic(no kettle either:note to self for next year) but you aren't really paying for that. They are clean and made up every day. There is a pizza/snack bar which is a bit expensive, so my tip would be walk 600 yards to the Spar and get some bits to snack on and drinks(on-site supermarket it a bit limited). So yeah...it's expensive BUT WORTH EVERY CENTIME when you add up the cost of self-catering. Go. Relax. Enjoy.
Stayed here as a family of 4 last year. Hotel itself is immaculate with lovely grounds and spotlessly clean with helpful, friendly staff. Pool areas were amazing, never any problem finding sun beds and never overcrowded. Kids pool was always quiet and just perfect for younger kids - a bit of a walk from the main buildings/pool though. Food was surprisingly good quality although could be limited choice for younger children (we did struggle a couple of nights and in the end asked for ham and bread for him which they brought out). The 2 sittings issue was a bit odd and we did find this a bit restrictive with children - much prefer a more open dinner option. as others have mentioned the hotel is mainly German and we did find we felt like the only other nationality there at times - not a complaint as such, just our first time we ever actually noticed this. Rooms are quite dark and dated, they are also quite small, however beds are comfy and they have a mini fridge. It's quite a trek to get to the resort and we didn't feel there was much there to see. Es trench beach is amazing though, definitely worth a few visits.
The Blau was such a fantastic hotel with amazing facilities. Set in the lovely Colonia Sant Jordi. Myself and 2 friends stayed here during the Best Fest open water festival, and couldn't have got a better location. Generous cost for a 3 person room for a week, including great food and spa. Staff were all really friendly too.
