We stayed here for 8 nights with our 11 and 14 year old boys. We had a suite which was ideal for the four of us. Every where in the hotel was clean and well looked after. The grounds in particular are beautiful and very well maintained. All the staff we met and spoke with were very friendly and helpful. There were not many English speakers there which we didn't find a problem, in fact it was nice to be very much in the minority. The food, considering it is mass catering, buffet style, was of a high standard with a great variety of foods. The pools are great and the fact that you can go in th spa as a family made it quite special. The animation team work hard and put on some excelllent shows. We had a great time and would highly recommend this hotel, and location.
We have stayed twice before at another Blau hotel in Majorca so had some expectations and were certainly not disappointed. This hotel was fabulous, set in beautifully kept grounds and had everything we wanted and needed. Wonderful pools with the lifeguards making sure one pool was kept free of inflatables for a relaxing swim. There were 2 other pools so something for everyone. Being able to swim from the outdoor pool into the indoor and then spa pool was refreshing in the heat & made us feel quite spoilt! Lots of sports activities available, gym, good quality cycle hire on site so again, something for everyone. There was a regular bus from the hotel to a lovely beach but it was actually only a 20 minute leg-stretcher after a fabulous breakfast. Even better for us though was the smaller beach and marina which was just a 10 minute stroll from the hotel with some lovely cafes and restaurants. We wished we'd found this earlier! The guests consisted mainly of non-English Europeans. It was nice to recognise some staff from the Blau Punta Reina who were very welcoming and lovely to chat with. Evening meals had 2 sittings - ideal for families to take the earlier sitting as they had the kids shows to follow. We chose the later sitting, so mainly adults, finishing in time for the nightly entertainment which was mainly cabaret style with a couple of shows from the Blau Animation Team. All in all a wonderful hotel, good value for money, set in a beautiful part of the island.
Well. I should start by saying if you want to be surrounded by rowdy, football-shirt wearing, Full English eating, Sun-reading blerts: this is not the place for you. It.is.fab-u-lous. It's half-board and if you want to have egg and bacon every morning: you can. Or. If you want fruit and yoghurt:you can. Honestly I can't do the food enough justice. All the food is fresh and 3 help yourself islands. Breakfast is sit anywhere, tea (as us Northerners call it) is 2 sittings. 6.30-8 or 8.30-10 & you are allocated a table for this and they encourage you to attend the same sittings. Again the food is great. They had Majorcan specialities on one night(as well as the usual excellent fayre). There is a paella every night - sometimes a meat one other nights fish. A chef who cooks that night's meat or fish special to order on the grill. Plus dishes of everything from lasagne to duck. Loads of veg and salad choices and deserts to die for. Moving on from food... The facilities are brilliant. There is a spa which is linked to an indoor and outdoor pool. Saying 'spa' doesn't do it justice:3 jacuzzis, ice-cold plunge pool, plus an adult-only area of 3 saunas, steam room. The rooms are a bit basic(no kettle either:note to self for next year) but you aren't really paying for that. They are clean and made up every day. There is a pizza/snack bar which is a bit expensive, so my tip would be walk 600 yards to the Spar and get some bits to snack on and drinks(on-site supermarket it a bit limited). So yeah...it's expensive BUT WORTH EVERY CENTIME when you add up the cost of self-catering. Go. Relax. Enjoy.
Stayed here as a family of 4 last year. Hotel itself is immaculate with lovely grounds and spotlessly clean with helpful, friendly staff. Pool areas were amazing, never any problem finding sun beds and never overcrowded. Kids pool was always quiet and just perfect for younger kids - a bit of a walk from the main buildings/pool though. Food was surprisingly good quality although could be limited choice for younger children (we did struggle a couple of nights and in the end asked for ham and bread for him which they brought out). The 2 sittings issue was a bit odd and we did find this a bit restrictive with children - much prefer a more open dinner option. as others have mentioned the hotel is mainly German and we did find we felt like the only other nationality there at times - not a complaint as such, just our first time we ever actually noticed this. Rooms are quite dark and dated, they are also quite small, however beds are comfy and they have a mini fridge. It's quite a trek to get to the resort and we didn't feel there was much there to see. Es trench beach is amazing though, definitely worth a few visits.
The Blau was such a fantastic hotel with amazing facilities. Set in the lovely Colonia Sant Jordi. Myself and 2 friends stayed here during the Best Fest open water festival, and couldn't have got a better location. Generous cost for a 3 person room for a week, including great food and spa. Staff were all really friendly too.
We stayed here in May 2017. The check in was very smooth- it seems staff have worked here for a long time and know how to do things seamlessly. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and all the pools are all great. Our three kids were in heaven. We didn't use the children's entertainment as our kids were happy enough with the pools and the beach (about a 10-15 minute walk). Kids can access the free spa at designated times and they loved the novelty of that. The area is quiet/low key. Amazing ice cream from hostel colonial - worth a walk/trip on the land train. The restaurant has a panoramic view with beautiful sunsets each evening and the food was absolutely delicious -as a vegetarian I would say it was better than my average experience abroad. The strength of this hotel is its staff who are extremely professional, friendly and really made the holiday very pleasant. The only slight criticism is that the bedrooms are a bit dark and dated but I have to say that didn't bother us in the slightest. Also, make sure you take mosquito repellent as it is close to the salt lakes there are a lot of mozzies around.
Hotel is well maintained and has great pools and outdoor facilities, but for us as a young family it was let down by a few issues. It's worth noting that the hotel seems to mainly serve German holidaymakers, so a lot of the staff have very limited English. This can make it more difficult to resolve any problems along the way. We'd chosen the hotel because of its family-friendly credentials, especially because we wanted creche or mini club facilites for our two-year-old. We booked a junior suite to give us a separate room for our child to sleep in. We arrived to find that the cot wasn't made up, and wasn't due to be for another two hours, although we arrived afte the check-in time. Not helpful with a very grumpy ittle one who needed his nap! The rooms themselves were comfortable if pretty small. Bed was very comfortable but access to balcony (and its very uncomfortable plastic furniture) was only through living room, so no way to go outside while toddler was asleep without disturbing him. Food was good, esp evening buffets, but neither of the hotel restaurants had high chairs available. Booster seats were available in the main restaurant, but had no security harness, so again not suitable for toddlers or babies. This made mealtimes a lot more stressful! We discovered that you can hire equipment from an outside company at extra cost (leaflets in reception) and would definitely recommend doing that if you have a little one with you. We tried out the mini club for one morning but it really wasn't able to deal with kids this young, and we weren't comfortable leaving our toddler there. Staff seem to be great with older children, and the kids' clubs for ages 4+ appear popular and well run, but the club for the youngest ones isn't suitable unless your child is pretty self-sufficient (toilet-trained, able to & will remember to get their own drinks etc.) Finally, mosquitos were terrible - our son was bitten 30-40 times in two nights while in the room and we killed 9 mosquitos in the bathroom on one morning alone. Hotel reckons nothing can be done about them, so take spray, anti-itch stuff and a plug-in.
We are very satisfied about this hotel for various reasons First of all because the very friendly staff and further because of the big room we had (a suite), well equipped and cleaned thoroughly with a sile every day, beautifull and maintained gardens,a warmed outdoor swimmingpool, stylish restaurant with excellent food ofcourse in a nice atmosphere. You won't regret your stay there and if you do, I guess nothing is good enough to you ;-)
Just spent several nights at this resort, and feel very satisfied with our time there. We have a young toddler and there was plenty to keep her occupied. The kids club provided great entertainment and were inclusive of all ages. There is a great kids outdoor swimming pool and playground. There was always a great spread for dinner & breakfast & the staff were extremely friendly. Rooms were average, the beds were too light and moved during sleep, it was also difficult to open the patio sliding door. Overall though we really found this place to be very good value & recommend it.
The hotel consists of several distinct apartment blocks within complex on the outskirts of Sant Jordi. The clientele is mainly northern European and friendly. Most seem to use the hotel for their annual exercise outing with lycra clad cyclists and headband wearing tennis players of all shapes and sizes everywhere. All very admirable. The food is good and the evening buffet holds up well. There are a couple of pools with life guards on duty and overall the sports facilities are good. Staff were friendly and nice. So, if my review stopped here I would award 4.5 stars. The reason for the deduction is the rooms are very poor - the walls are chipped and marked - the rooms are clean but in very poor condition. We stayed in a junior suite. The beds were the most uncomfortable rocks I have ever slept on. They are only fit for the Flintstones. It’s a shame as a lick of paint and a mattress topper would not break the bank. Sant Jordi itself is pretty by the port and the beach: Es Trenc, is beautiful.
