Centrally located, modern business hotel with a fantastic rooftop restaurant and pool. The rooms are small, but super fresh and the service is great. The hotel is a 5 minutes ferry ride from Male airport.
If you are looking for somewhere near the airport to stay in between resorts or flights, or for business- stay here! We arrived late at night into Male airport and stayed at Hotel Jen before heading to our resort the following day. Hotel Jen met us at the aiport, gave us bottled water and swiftly transferred us over to Male (about 5 mins by boat). The man who met us was incredibly friendly and helpful. We checked into our rooms and were very impressed by the quality of the rooms!! It was beautiful, spacious, modern and very very comfortable. We couldn't have asked for a better room to stay in! The next morning we had a 12pm checkout, so we were able to enjoy the amazing buffet breakfast- which was INCREDIBLE. So much selection, amazing staff and just all round tasty. We then had a swim in the rooftop infinity pool, which is fantastic by the way! The hotel organised our connection with our next resort and seamlessly transferred us back to the airport for our transfer. I cannot recommend Hotel Jen enough- definitely stay here, you won't be disappointed!
Great place to rest by the pool after a night flight. It was so nice to be picked up and speedboated to the hotel. Nice clean and light rooms and on the top floor a swimming pool over looking the bay, great fruit juices, snacks. Nice spa within the hotel. Next day I was new and ready to go. I spent my last night there before leaving, close to fish market, museum and stores, did all my presents shopping. The personnel will do anything to make things easy. ( like find a flowerstore :-) I also stored at the hotel my winter clothes. I will definitely be back.
I was pretty disappointed with my stay at hotel Jen due to a few things. 1. Upon booking my stay, there was a comment that the hotel would confirm airport pick up and details. They didn't confirm pick up, and were also late to the airport so upon arriving in the Maldives, we were concerned and confused as to how to get to the hotel. 2. I knew I would be arriving to the hotel fairly late, so while checking the website, I saw that Azul was supposed to be open until midnight. Therefore, I booked the I booked the "Stay and Dine" offer. Even upon check in (~10:30PM) , the hotel staff told me that I could go to the rooftop restaurant for dinner. However, after getting upstairs, I found out that only the "bar" was open until Midnight, and all food service had already concluded. No one told me that I should get food at the Cafe, but then again, why would I pay so much extra for the cafe? I ended up leaving for dinner, so essentially "threw away" the muffin or sandwich selection at the cafe. 3. Since I was leaving on the first seaplane out, the hotel staff in the evening told me that they would pack me a "take away" breakfast. Upon checking out, the breakfast was not available. We were told to go to the buffet to pack our own food, but the staff tried to limit us to only the baked pastries. The hotel needs to improve on their commitments and follow through. They didn't confirm our pick up, were late to the airport, and didn't follow through on packing a take away breakfast. Lastly, DON'T bother with the Stay and Dine package. It's a waste of $70 USD when the selection and actual food provided is so limited. Lastly, I was very disappointed when I told the check out host and she basically shrugged it off. That is NOT the service expected at a 4-star hotel. It is not worthy of the Shangri-La name.
My wife and i stayed at the hotel Jen on the way too and from a boat trip. The hotel was very clean, the staff was lovely. I found our room comfortable and well appointed. When we arrived early they were kind enough to check us in so we could freshen up and have a swim. Its also around the corner from a tremendous Thai restaurant called Sala Thai. Breakfast at the hotel is very nice, eggs to order, a broad array of international options. I would definitely come back, its a homerun.
We wanted an overnighter before heading to our island resort. The Jen is set back one block from the water. Good rooms and excellent roof top restaurant & pool. BBQ buffet was very good. Only negative for us is inability to have beer or wine with a meal, but the alcohol free beer was just about acceptable. Nothing much to see on the island and VERY busy with hundreds of motor bikes & scooters everywhere! We will definitely stay here again when we need a night in Male.
My husband and I stayed here for business travel in November 2017. The hotel boasts chic decor, friendly staff, good airco and great wifi. We didn't use the pool while we were there, but did enjoy a barbecue evening on the roof terrace which was delicious. Breakfast buffet has a broad range of options, and the live cooking station offers a choice of eggs / pancakes / etc. Front desk staff / breakfast staff / doormen were all very friendly and helpful. The guests seemed to be a mix of business travellers and vacationers. Male is so small you can walk everywhere from here. Make sure to check out the local fish and fruit markets. Rooms were clean and had all the facilities you could wish for. We plan to stay at this hotel for all our future trips to Male!
Hotel jen was really good but as advertised. We thought it to be a little more expensive then what was advertised. The rooms were not much spacious and it wasnt on the front beach row. Only the too floor rooms had view of the beach. The hotel was clean, friendly staff and good food.
I once stayed at Hotel Jen in Hong Kong and enjoyed my stay there so I thought I'd give Hotel Jen Male a try. Minutes away from the pier where the passenger ferries get in from the airport and a short 5-minute walk from Majeedhee Magu (the "shopping street"), Hotel Jen Male is very conveniently located. I found my room, which had a city view, to be quite roomy, well furnished, and loved the oversized bathroom. There were 4 bottles of free water in my room which were replaced every day, and upon arrival, there was a glass of fresh cut fruits where were delicious and a nice little touch. My only complains about this hotel is that they never refilled the shampoo which was completely empty for 3 of the 4 days I was there, and the staff at the reception wasn't too happy that I had made my own arrangements for scuba diving and refused to call for me (since I didn't have a phone) to see where my instructor was – luckily he was already in the lobby and heard me.
Quiet and a sense of security, coupled with highh-quality furnishing, fittings and comfort , latest technical equipment, quoitiy furnishing, WiFi internet, roof-top pool and gym, spa and breakfast kitchen. Comfortable city hotel jost 10 minutes by speed-boat from male international airport. Friendly staff.
