Flew into Male late at 9pm so stayed at Hotel Jen overnight before catching our flight to a distant atoll the next day. Very basic/ adequate in all departments - from the room, the food to the service. Representative met us at airport and took us via short speed boat ride to Male + short walk to the hotel. Generally speaking - no frills but not THAT cheap either. However, I suppose that's the case for most similar stopover hotels in Male.
We had to book one night in the hotel because our flight had arrived late evening and the seaplanes can not flight after 6.00 pm I like the swimming pool on the terrace and the restaurant and the bar there. The drinks are good but the food is just ok
Hotel Jen is an excellent place to stay if find yourself in Male for work or pleasure. It's conveniently located and only a few minutes by the hotel's boat from the airport. The hotel is very well run with friendly staff, excellent service, well-appointed rooms, very good meals, and hotel-wide high speed internet. The jewel in the crown is the glorious roof top pool with a fabulous view. Highly recommended.
We stayed one night at male in our way to the resort. The staff was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the rooftop pool and restaurant. We almost stayed there most of the day. The food at the hotel is excellent. If we are traveling to male again we will stay in this hotel for sure
Come highly recommended, but it is OK. The rooms are nice, service is lukewarm - meet the needs but not overly feeling you are welcomed. You are "customer" but definitely not "guest". Hotel is in a very busy area, traffic is heavy and not orderly so watch where you go, or the motorcycles will knock you out... We wanted to get some Thai food near the hotel, not as easy, the closest one right across from hotel was not big nor fancy, hole in the wall yet needed reservation, we could not even get in, rather, we did the take out, food was so so, and don't expect getting any utensils nor bowls, every dish comes in tinfoil!, and soup? the tom yum soup comes in a plastic beg sealed with a rubber band... ! we had to get dishes from the hotel, the overall experience was BASIC. Don't expect too much out of the stay.
We stayed one night in this hotel. Its nice little hotel with all basic amenities available. Just 5 mins away ( on speedboat) from male airport. They have good buffet options too with cuisine catering to mainly china. Asian and continental choices in food are also there. Staff is cooperative. Amigo from the reception was really helpful and understanding. Good place for a short stay. Roof top pool is a very attractive
Went for a leisurely breakfast at their Lime Restaurant last Tuesday. The service levels were nearly non existent. We had to wait long time to get attention of the waiters or any service staff. Even though it was a full buffer restaurant, the staff entirely left us to help ourselves with no attention to our table and follow up on our liking of food or other needs. Approached the live Station for a hot breakfast item but the Chefs were no where to be seen. Stood there for 10 min waiting and eventually reached out to a service staff who seemed to be very bothered by our request. Overall not worth a breakfast experience one wants for a perfect start of their day. You can be better off running into some of the well know coffee shops in Male for way better service and assistance.
Probably the only four star hotel that is part of a reputable chain in Male. No hustle, everything is achievable here. The staff are very well trained and gracious. When we arrived we waited at the Jetty near Ceylon Bank. Didn't know hotel was right behind the block. It is right in the middle of the city. Faan arranged for a tour guide and she made an excellent choice. The guide was very informative and kind. Room was neat and clean. Could have gotten a better view. Jen's Kitchen is a good concept.
Stayed in for 3 nights during a business trip. The hotel is centrally located and has a good connection to airport. They pre arrange the speed boat transfer on booking. rooms are clean and Morden. All the amenities as a business hotel are available. Though the check in is bit slow, but that can be worked on. Breakfast is good with options, but in room dining menu is limited. Overall a good hotel to stay in.
Stayed for two nights on business travel. By far, the best hotel in Male' city. So, the rates are equally high. Yet, its worth the money. Very spacious room and bath. Excellent service at the reception. Good breakfast. But it runs out fast and the restaurant staff takes quite a long time to replenish the items. So, I would advice to go for the breakfast as early as possible. Decent internet speeds. Comfortable beds. Good lighting in the room. No disturbances. All amenities in the room and bath were fully functional. Nespresso machine is a waste without the capsules. Free airport transfer on speed boat was easy but had to wait about 30-45 minutes at the airport upon arrival as they seemed to be bringing in few guests in one batch. So, it'd be better off taking the ferry and save some time. But airport drop was very useful and fast. Good food in all 3 restaurants. The roof top restaurant (Azur) was excellent...! Service was superb and food was really good. And the price was equally high..!! The Lime restaurant service can surely improve. The cafe at the lobby was good but the service can improve. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay at Jen in Male' and I will surely return to this hotel.
