The hostal (not a hotel, this is important in Spain!) is situated on the 4th floor of a big building. The logo is hard to find, look for the house number. The place is very well situated and clean, although some of the rooms and bathrooms are small. We stayed there three times and were never disappointed. Most rooms look on the street but not 410, which is probably the quietest room. There are small but clean bedrooms, towels and liquid soap are provided, and the beds we slept in were also quite good. The people of the hostal are very friendly and helpful, we met about four people, only two of whom spoke some English. When we asked for an extra blanket, they were very eager to help. Next to the hostal you will find a number of cafeterias, shops, etc., and the metro station Tribunal, which is the crossing of two busy lines, 10 (ideal for the airport and Santiago Bernabeu), and 1 (ideal for trains and the south coach terminal). The wi-fi worked fine. In the rooms, there is a safe for one euro/use. The overall price is reasonable, but this hostal is not the best for longer stays.
The best thing about this hostel is THE LOCATION. It is near everything you need to visit while you're in Madrid. Do not think you will stay in a 3* hotel : the rooms are old, small and not heated during cold winters, but the price is okay for the room. The staff was very friendly but only speaks Spanish (you may revise some sentences). The entrance is also a little bit strange : the hostel is located on the 4th floor of an appartement, so do not hesitate to enter the building and to take the elevator.
The hostal is very well located: on an animated street, with many shops and restaurants, safe during the nights, close to a metro station and at a walking distance from the city center. The room (a double one) was not very large but acceptable, pretty clean and with a nice view to a church. The bathroom - really small and obsolete. Though, what made me have an extremely bad experience was the smell, especially during the morning: it seems that the housekeeping staff lives in the same place or, at least, they eat there their own food and the smell of that warmed food was TERRIBLE, my liver was in crisis.
Stayed here for 2 nights (fri-sun €140) in a double comfort room, the bed was hard, the bathroom you had to shuffle to get from the toilet to the bath/shower, although location was good it was very noisy, could hear everything next door. The staff were never around, no free toiletries, microwave, coffee machine, CD player which was meant to already be in the room. Wouldn't come back here as wasn't a relaxing stay
I stay in Hostel for 4 nights. Location of the Hostel is great, 10 min by walk to Calle Grand Via and 15 min to Plaza Espana; 2 min from metro station Tribunal. Staff was very kind. Our room was with bathroom and everything was OK, because we didn't spent a lot of time in room. Hostel and room were very clean. Also, wi- fee was ok. In Fuencarral street is located a lot of nice restaurant and coffees where you can eat a great "madrileno" very cheap. Also, street is great for a shopping, because a lot of stores is in this street.
I've stayed at several hostals in Madrid, and this is the best one so far. The location is wonderful, with easy access to public transportation, restaurants, and tourist attractions. It makes seeing the city very walkable. The staff made recommendations and offered useful advice. The hostal's right on Fuencarral, which is one of the best streets to explore in the city for shopping and food options. During my first stay here, my room had a fantastic view. However, the mattress was too soft and seemed worn out. The room was smaller than I anticipated, but I didn't spend much time in there so it was manageable. For my second visit, they upgraded me to a bigger room with a bigger bed at no extra charge, which was a wonderful surprise.
I paid for a single room and I recived a 4 square feet room + 2 square feet bathroom. The toilet bowl was against the wall on one side so as to sit on it you have to put your feet in the bathtub :), or you sit on the toilet bowl with your knees underneath the sink. Yhe small bad was as long as the wall ( 2 meters ).As the disaster was not enough the breakfast was insulting. They bought a box of milk that was keept in thir refrigerator and I have to wait till 8:30 every morning when came one of the two employed if I wanted to add it to coffee. My advice is to keep your distance from this location or never to pay in advance as I did.
Although we had a double comfort room it looked like simple room. Location of that Hostel is very good, 5-10min walking to Gran Via. Conditions are not as good as location. We had a problem with air conditioning. It was very cold in the room and the smell inside the bathroom wasn't good.
We choose a "double comphort" badroom, which was little small, but really nice looking. Hostel is situated in really fun area, with lot of cool bars where people doesn t sleep acctualy! Anyway, the room was quiet. Stuff is nice, they clean every day and fill up food for breakfast (croasants, butter, jam, milk, juice, coffee). You can also find in the room microwale and refrigertor. There is only one thing, you can smell from the restroom a little sewerage... Anyway, we would like to come again.
The situation of the hostal is perfect. You can find many cafes, shops, metro station near. It's easy to get to places to see and no need to use metro. The room was small but rather comfortable. Cleaning was every day. Nice view of church from the window. Personal is friendly.
