Booked the hotel and couldn't travel - they would not let me cancel 1 month before, they made 450 euros from me and also rebooked the room to make more money on top. Absolute rip off charlatans. Never stay with this group again. Be careful because they will rip you off if they get the chance. Not flexible or accommodating, poor business practice. "Manager" on the phone was very abrupt and dismissive, downright rude.
We were friendly welcomed by the reception. The staff parked our car but per night it cost about EUR 24.00. However, the hotel itself is very clean, the beds were comfortable and there is a spa with a gym.
My friend and I stayed here for a weekend break... we needed somewhere within walking distance of the train station but in a safe area and close to the main part of the city. Very happy with our choice. The area was more of a business area and so at the weekend there wasn’t much around or open - not really any bars or restaurants (that we noticed anyway)... however it was only a short walk to the river, and from there on, there’s more choice... cross the second river and head for the old town though is my advice. Quick check in and room was comfortable and clean. The room sizes did seem to vary - mine much more spacious than my friend’s room. Very quiet room, air con or heating and a mini fridge with one bottle of free Evian - only on one day though. Good shower (waterfall one) and plenty of hot water. Ok hairdryer but no iron - maybe have to ask. Good breakfast buffet. Attentive staff and although it got busy, we didn’t have to queue - although I did notice a couple of people having to wait a short time. All in all, a good hotel that I would recommend!
We had to be at the Prefecture de Rhone at 08.30 and this Mercure is just 5 minutes’ walk away so we went the night before. Cars in the rush hour in Lyon are a waste of time. This hotel is also very well situated in general for Lyon being walking distance to the Main Part Dieu railway station and the business district and it was clearly being well used for meetings. The refurbished room was perfect for us as older people with need for good space, twin beds and a walk in shower. The two double beds were very comfortable. The flexible room rate of 160 EUR with two breakfasts is excellent value for Lyon. It's a bit cheaper if you're prepared to pay a non-refundable rate but I don't see the point at this level. The concierge took the car off to the private car park which cost us 24 EUR for the night. The breakfast was excellent. We didn't use the sports facilities. Check-in and check-out was very efficient. The only slight downside was a non-smiling girl on reception on arrival at around 15.00. We all have bad days but this is not good and I must say unusual for the Mercure chain in my experience. However we never saw her again and the rest of the staff in reception, in the bar and in the restaurant were helpful in every way.
Nice and good located house close to the centre of Lyon. The rooms are clean, new, with air conditioner. WiFi, coffee/tea machine, TV. Nothing missed. The house is quite new or at least in a good condition. For me there were no negative issues to commend. The house is not located in the 1er arrondissement (touristic centre) but you can get there by a few minutes walk just after crossing the Rhône river. (There are the boats with bars and restaurants located as well.) Even when the house is located at a crowded street, the rooms are quiet. They also provide a kind of wellness area. I’ve been not there so no comment about it. Also the breakfast is always very expensive but as usual in France, there are a lot of Cafés and bakeries where you can get everything you need for a breakfast. The stuff is very friendly and professional. Thanks to the good service they provided. Nice place to be, very recommended.
This hotel was built as a parking garage in the 1930s and they have tried to keep the deco vibe in the restaurant. Otherwise it is like any anonymous modern purpose built hotel in a convenient location. The room was large enough with a fridge and a safe and the restaurant very pleasant. Nothing to complain about or to write home about. It was a short walk to the Pont Wilson and the old part of the city,
Conference facilities and support excellent. Jimmy, from the commercial office was superb in his support, both pre- and during conference. Quality of meals poor - the risotto was very stodgy, and left unfinished by many. Bar staff very casual and inattentive; music in bar was far too loud despite requests to turn it down, even when bar empty but for two of us. Room very clean throughout; but occasion omissions from skimty toiletry pack.
The female Receptionist debited immediately my CreditCard during check out. Invoice only was passed to me afterwards upon my request. I was charged 40 Euros too much. I asked for her Supervisor. Young girl appeared. Claire. Neither comments nor excuses from her site. Guests should be careful. Cars are taken by hotel staff to garage. Steering wheel, seat, aircon and some technical devices were changed upon return. Car was put in the middle of the street, blocking a lane.
I was in Lyon for business. The Mercure was the perfect place to stay for this trip. The hotel is clean and the rooms are comfortable. There is a restaurant located at the hotel which provides a nice buffet breakfast and a wide variety of selections for dinner. The staff were all incredibly helpful - especially given my limited ability to speak French. In addition the location was convenient to my office as well as some tourist sites.
The room was clean, quiet, and spacious. Everything is within walking distance. Next time in Lyon I'd look for something closer to the old town, but if I couldn't find anything I would definitely return here.
