Just recently returned from the hotel camponile Gare Parrach, which is situated at 17 PlaceCarnot, the hotel is beautifully done out, and spotlessly clean, the foyer has plenty of chairs and tables to both eat and have a drink, it has an excellent bar selling various beers and spirits, and has a huge 60inch t.v, great for watching the champions league final, as I arrived at the hotel from the airport 30 mins before k. o. I was on a room only basis, so cannot comment about the food, the bedrooms were a decent size (I was travelling alone), they had a double bed, NOT two single beds pushed together, superb power shower, hand basin, toilet, writing desk, kettle with t bags and coffy and milk replenished every day, but NO fridge, air con,and 28 inch t. v., but NO English channels, the beds were very comfortable, and I was out for the count after being in Lyon for most of the day, I must give a special mention to CAROLINE, whom I saw on many visits to the hotel foyer, she gave me 'no end' of information about places to visit in this beautiful city, also advice on Avignon and Grenoble, which i visited on the train from LYON PART DIEU train station, but to be fair , ALL the hotel staff were first class, from the reception to the cleaning lady's, (my room was cleaned, and towels changed every day). The 'old town', was a gentle 20 to 25 min walk from the hotel, come out of the hotel, and across the street, walk in front of the fountain and the large statue to the 'republique , and you will come to GUMPS CORNER, (this is another great pub packed every night), walk down the side of the pub ,and it will bring you to the main road after a couple of minutes, TURN RIGHT, cross over the road, and follow the river for 10 or 15 minutes, cross over any of the bridges, and this will bring you into the old town and all its glories, for the 'drinkers', you have some great English and irish bars, THE ELEPHANT AND CASTLE, KELLYS BAR, THE SMOKING DOG,to name but a few, getting to the Camponile Gare parrach from the AIRPORT is rev; simple, take the RHONE EXPRESS to LYON PART DIEU TRAIN STATION, which costs 15euros 90 cents, and takes about 30 mins, once there, enter the train station, and walk thru straight OUT the other side, walk out at a angle and you will see the tram stops, take TRAM T1 which is signed DEBOURG, and, after7or8 stops, get off the tram at PARRACH, (the trams have tvs on board telling you each stop, so its pretty easy), the hotel is literally 80 mtrs from PARRACH tram stop, returning to the airport after your hols.take tram T1 signed I.U.C.FESSAYE,get off at LYON PART DIEU TRAIN STATION, again, walk thru the train station and out the other side, and on the RHONE EXPRESS,back to the airport I would give this hotel a big 'thumbs up', and would have no problem at all in staying at this hotel again, well done to all concerned
We had a lovely family trip in Lyon, the room was small, but very clean! Staff was helpful, especially we booked family room by lastminute.com and we didn't have extra bed in hotel, but receptionist help us and after a few minutes was everything done. The location is great No fridge in the room :(
Great hotel in a great location easily accesable from the Perrache Station. Rooms clean and well appointed. Short walk in the main town centre. Friendly and helpful staff with helpful local knowledge. Nice bar area and buffet breakfast. Highly recommended
The hotel has a good location and is easy to get to and from the airport by tram without the need of a taxi. Prices are good, however service could be improved. Unfortunately during our stay our toilet didnt work and the only other room available was smaller. Initially they didnt want to offer any compensation even though we were staying in a cheaper room than what we paid for which was disappointing. In the end they gave us a free breakfast which was at least something.
Good position near tram and rail station opposite park. That's ok. We had 6th floor room opposite park quick gain would have been ok. However the temperature increased during our 3 night stay and we were unable to utilise air conditioning in the room as the hotel management decreed it was not hot enough to engage. So we had to have the windows opened. That would have been ok however there is a nightly futsball game he held in the park each night. This goes on until midnight! Impossible to sleep with the noise. When asked to have the air conditioning on there was no help friendly m management. Very disappointing. Give this place a miss or get a room not fronting the park.
This is supposed to be a 3 star hotel with few frills but a broken air conditioning system was too much to bear. Not too clean either. Won't come back. Breakfast was acceptable. The bar was horrible I saw other hotels in Lyon with the same price point which appeared to be much better
We booked this hotel as part of a weekend away, and I e mailed a week before to check what time the room would be available. On arrival at 2-30 pm they confirmed we had a booking but the rooms were not available and could we comeback later which was not a problem. We left our bags and went for a walk around Lyon for a couple of hours. When we returned our friends booked in okay, but we were told our room had been cancelled. We were not happy and the desk person got very defence but after some calm discussion it was sorted. Rooms are nice and clean but small. The evening before we left on the Sunday I booked a taxi for 4 pm and checked the time we need to leave the room. After a good meal at a local traditional restaurant we went to bed only to be woken at 4 am in the morning to be told our taxi is here............... Not happy and no apology what so ever from the reception. All in all okay hotel for weekend away, but the staff and to be honest most places in Lyon are less that welcoming and in some cases just rude. Lyon is great as a City break, but the locals are way down our list of nice people.
Had a weekend away with friends .. picked lyon as not been to France for a few years .. hotel is in a great location in lyon. It is a good train or bus ride from the airport( 20 mins or more) then a tram to the hotel again another 15 mins. it's very close to a main tram stop. But once there is not fair from the town . Rooms very nice good size and a great shower. Bed is made and towels can be changed daily. Room was very clean and tea coffee topped up daily. It’s hit and miss with the staff on the front desk. Some very helpful. But could just be a laungue thing. Just a shame some of the bars restaurants still don't like the English. Guess our money not as good as the French Euro.
I travelled to Lyon to catch the football match against Nantes and definitely made the right choice in hotel. It's location next to Gare Perrache station was the first good thing, as it was only one stop from Lyon Part-Dieu (which the Eurostar goes to) and in the central corridor of Lyon's city centre. Bellecour, vieux Lyon and the ancient Romaines theatre are all between 10-30 mins walk from here and there are plenty of metro stations/trams to access other parts of the city. Getting to the stadium took roughly 35 minutes but this is due to the fact you can only get there by tram. The hotel itself was clean and modern, with a big tv in the front lobby and a lots of tables to eat towards the back. Check in was quick and painless, with all the staff speaking enough English to be able to communicate. My room was on the top floor and had a beautiful view of Lyon from the balcony. I had ordered a double room despite being by myself but there was more than enough space for 2 people. There was complimentary coffee sachets, water and a kettle which was a nice touch. The bed itself was very comfortable (which was ideal as I was very ill on the first day of my trip) and the room was nice and warm. The bathroom was very clean, spacious. In terms of staff, they were all very friendly and accommodating, although a special mention to Pierre (who works nights) for all his help in giving me directions to the stadium and which transport to take. He was also very accommodating to other guests and really does his best to make you feel at home. Can't speak highly enough of him. In regards to food, everything I ordered was nice and I had no problems with that. in the elevator you see a picture (in French) for 'le compteur' which appears to be the restaurant in the hotel and it mentioned burgers, pasta, desserts etc. But when I came down for food I was given the same menu as the one you receive in your hotel room, which only has toasties, salad or pizza. All the napkins had 'le compteur' on them so I was a bit confused as to whether or not they actually serve those foods. My only advice would be to make it a little clearer as to what is actually available or put a menu for the restaurant in the room so that you can choose between snacks or meals. But all in all, I really enjoyed the hotel and would definitely choose it again if I come back to Lyon.
Hotel Campanile Lyon Perrache is right across Gare Perrache. My room was bigger than I expected and the bathroom was kinda huge. Amenities though are basic minimum. Wifi connection was very reliable but the breakfast buffet was too simple. From the hotel, one can take a leisurely walk at Lyon's "central corridor" that goes to Place Bellecour where one could decide to cross the river to the Basilica or discover architectural oddities.
