We were there with friends for 2 nights. The room was OK (renovated room and bathroom) with river view (and a small balcony) Room was clean and in the wardrobe there were a lot of coat hangers (which is in a lot of hotels a problem). Bathroom was small but very clean. Only problem was that there was no toiletroll-hanger. (rolls were stacked on top of the toilet). We had twice lunch and dinner. Dinner was OK but portions were (very) small. The dining room was too cold (alltough there were 2 extra small electrical bath room heaters. Evenings it was outside - 8 à - 10). Breakfast was a buffet with a lot of choice. Was very good. The staff at the reception was very friendly and welcoming. However the young lady serving dinner in the restaurant needs a lesson in friendliness and politeness, she was really rude. (E.g : Before dinner I stood at the bar to order aperitif, she ignored me totally and continued prepearing some drinks. No greeting, no hallo I'll be there right away. Nothing.....I stood there nearly 5 minutes when I finally ordered my drinks myself because she kept on ignoring me. (talking of rudeness). In the menu we chose, there was one course that my wife did not eat. When we asked if she could have something else, she simply said : No. (and that was it, not a word any more) I became a bit irritated because of her rude answer. I said that we were willing to pay an extra if needed and then she murmured : what do you want ? All by all the hotel is nicely situated, has a large parking and breakfast and dinner are OK. With exeption of one member of the staff (in the dining room) all the people were very friendly. However due to this rudeness I only give 3/5 for the service. So I can advise this hotel for a short break.
Terrible stay at this hotel. By terrible, you need to understand horrible. Excessive noise by other customers, hotel management incapable of doing anything and incapable of appropriately answering our complaint. Otherwise, the site is nice and rooms are ok. So cannot complaint about that, we just could not enjoy them as much as we would have liked to. Due to bad hotel management, I would recommend another place for sure (travelling regularly for business/leisure and it is rare to face such bad management).
Very well located hotel next to the river. Peaceful and quiet, a haven of nature at its best. Red squirrels :), geese, ducks, birds, ... The food in the restaurant is OK if a little expensive for what you get. The prices of the drinks are astronomically high.
We stayed in a cottage suite in mid August. First off the location is as beautiful as you could expect. Even though the resort provides a shuttle to the nearby station you really need your own car. The property contains two Cocoon hotels stretched over half a km of river bank framed by mighty pines and overlooked by the spectacular Bourscheid castle. There is a busy campsite a few hundred metres away but the blanket sense of tranquility was not threatened and ensures top marks here. The cottage suite itself was excellent value. Large comfortable bed, larger double shower, balcony and plenty of space to feel at home. The resort appeared popular with middle aged Waloon Belgians (as well as some Dutch) so the atmosphere appeared a bit "French" to us; while efficient and courteous, the service was not particularly friendly. Breakfast was all you could wish for and the resort hosted two restaurants. Despite offering separate menus these were of good quality but lacking in both selection and value (yes, welcome to the 22 Euro burger!). The area is quite remote and it is not especially easy to make other eating arrangements. Nonetheless this was our first trip to Luxembourg and we were very pleased with the Cocoon de Rive and would return.
We went there a few weeks ago. The hotel is ok. The area is nice without being extraordinary. It can offer a nice break from your daily activities / surroundings. We had a room with a window directly on the terrace. Impossible with the weather / temperature to sleep with a closed window (no A/C in the room). So, we tried. Lucky us (sarcastic) there was a group (4-5 people) that was pretty loud. Asked them to lower the tone and then asked the hotel management 3 times that same evening. No effect. They continued until after midnight. Nice if you want to recover from a long week. Mentioned this the next day, again, to the management. The answer was something like:" We know that it can be loud". Completely unsatisfactory! Sent an e-mail afterwards to see the reaction of the hotel management. Still no answer to this day. Terrible hotel management. Hotel could be refreshed. It's ok but definitely not going back there. Very disappointing.
Located along the river Sure you will enjoy the great views on the medieval castle while enjoying the exclusive lounge chairs with a cocktail or dessert. Take a fresh dip in the river before going to the wellness area... Choose the junior suites because the other rooms are really old-fashioned.
What a beautiful part of the world! This hotel is nestled in a quiet area by a small river. It is so peaceful here. The room was nice and very clean. It would have been nice to have air conditioning or at least a fan since it was so hot. The food was good also. They were a little short-staffed the one evening but it all worked out ok.
Hidden away in a forest next to a slow flowing river you find two nice hotels. Between them you find a number of bungalows which are the real gems. Two rooms, individual terasse, double shower and bathtubeall from 2010 gives you a feeling of luxury. The meals must be taken in the two hotels since you are a bit away from any village or town.
Gorgeous location, right on the river. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit worn, red duct tape keeping a lampshade in one piece is a bit of a stretch but we spent most of our time outside. Wifi is limited. The area is great for walking and some nice sights.
