Gorgeous location, right on the river. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit worn, red duct tape keeping a lampshade in one piece is a bit of a stretch but we spent most of our time outside. Wifi is limited. The area is great for walking and some nice sights.
Very Nice location , we have booked a gastronomic weekend , top level kitchen with Very good service and excellent wine , room ok with Nice view ,wellness Well or'ganized ,even can be booked per hout for private use
At the beginning I would like to start from advantage because there is only one. Office hours were only up to 8pm but I planned to come there around midnight so I call to the hotel and they agree to left keys in receipts where I will take them. Next day breakfast was really poor. Not many to choose which is very important for me. Another thing is that during our chack out I had on a bill that I paid for 2 persons. I tried to explain it and after long minutes I get my money back and correct invoice. Parking is huge but there is no security to ensure that nothing happens with your car.
The hotel is nicely located along the river with stunning views of the 11th Century, illuminated Castle. The staff was very nice, very polyglot, full of humor and all went out of their way to serve and accomodate... The wellness center lacks a (small) pool which is a pity. Beds are more than excellent ! The whole hotel breezes an airr of relaxation. Food is excellent...almost of Michelin star quality !! Highly recommended ...!!
My partner received a Bongo gift voucher to thank her for 21 years of service at her work so we wanted to do something special. This hotel is in an absolutely beautiful location nestled next to a river in a forest-lined valley overlooked by a medieval castle. There are 2 Cocoon hotels near to each other, ours was La Rive which appeared a little older. Right from the first moment our experience was a little disappointing. As we were on a Bongo voucher we were given one of the older rooms that looked a little worse for wear and there were greasy hair stains on the wall by the bed. The room was small and the furniture worn by time and use and the bathroom had no standing shower, just a bath with a shower head to wash with. We caught a glimpse of some of the other rooms and they looked much nicer. The hotel was also publicised as having a welness centre with sauna and steam rooms. These were in obvious need of renovation and although the sauna was ok the steam rooms were cold. We used them once and did not go back on the second evening. There is also a very small fitness room. The voucher included an evening meal and we had a seperate menu from everyone else which was obviously a cheaper version and so we felt a little let down considering what we were there to celebrate. Most of the staff were ok but a couple were not so friendly, even disinterested, which also affected our experience. We got drunk and laughed it off as much as we could to make up for our disappointment. The walks in the area are just lovely and the castle worth a visit so we did have a nice time doing that. In paying our bill (we stayed an extra night as the distance was too far for just one evening) we had to go to the other hotel to collect a receipt and there the staff much very friendly. Maybe there were staff issues that we were not aware of in our hotel.
We are not the average hotel customer: usually we rent a bungalow or studio and prefer to do our own cooking, as most hotel kitchen don't really cater well for vegetarians. In the case of this hotel, we used a cadeaubon (Anders Reizen). Rooms are spacious enough and clean, but the quality of Wifi in the room is 'sporadic' and 'erratic'. The flatscreen remote control didn't work properly, it was not possible to watch movies from the laptop on it with a HD-cable because of this. Main thing missing is mosquito screens, and that at the side of a river! The vegetarian dishes on the menu are rather 'non meat' dishes. The cook obviously has no idea what vegetarians eat.. We enjoyed the Spa facilities, small sauna, but few (naked) customers; Sauna without clothing is only from 18.00 till 20.00 which means you are quite late for dinner. Dunno why anyone would want to go in a sauna with clothes on.. but since the rules exist, there must be such people :) Personel was friendly and helpful. We don't understand that the hotel doesn't have maps of the surrounding walking trails though. There's precious little else to do there!
Warm welcome on arrival. Pleasant surprise in being housed in lodge by the river. Scenery amazing. Meals first class. Staff equally as good. Waiter in the hotel was Polish, his English was excellent and his humour and guidance on the menu first class. A must for a return trip. Free internet.
Hy, I stayed there with my family for the weekend. Rooms are ok bed size is great to have a kid sleept with you. Breakfast was ok, Omlet was cold and juice not fresh, therefor there was champagne. Restaurant a disaster, totally understaffed. Dishes were ok. But the Ketchup that was served in little bags was over 6 months over due for the recyle bin. We had dinner on the terrace an from our room we could se our table, after 3 hours it was cleaned... so much for the stuff carring for the people... Other point after dinner a lot a people came out to enjoy the evening on the terrace, stuff stayed inside an people had to go in to place an order, only after more than an hour did the stuff get the feeling to come out and ask if anyone wanted something... well a lot of money the lost...
Location, suites are nice, however staff is really un professional. Good day or how are you, seems to be difficult to say. Restaurant is ok,again staff mainly speaks french. With a little bit more effort and joy the rating would be higher. Work is not just work ! If you go for drinks the service is slow. Missed opportunity, you should try to keep your customers happy and keep them in the bar. Instead they go somewhere else. The suites are spacious and interier is nice. The view is towards the river. During sunny days it is a beautiful location.
We booked a few months ago it was a beautiful setting but in the middle of nowhere .there were no shops just two hotels and a castle. The food was ok but really didn't have a choice as there was no other place to eat near by I'm sure there would be in the summer months but not this time of year. The breakfast was ok as far as breakfast go. The rooms were spacious they could do with up dating. The beds were comfy and clean bedding each day. The Internet was not available in the rooms only down stairs. There only seemed to be 3 people working in the hotel . I wouldn't go again but have no need to this was just Purley on route but a good hour from Luxembourg centre.
