San Luca Palace Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

We have recently returned from a one weeks stay in Tuscany basing ourselves randomly at the San Lucca Palce. This was pure luck that we found such a great hotel with wonderful helpful staff. The hotel is spotlessly clean and even the continental breakfast is something to look forward to. Lucca is a wonderful walled town and this hotel is near the city walls just on the outskirts but within 2 minutes walk into the action. If we had any criticism is would be that there was no tea/coffee making facility in the room.
A really pleasant hotel, well situated on the edge of the old town with a small car park (bonus!). The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a room on the 4th floor which was big and comfortable, but not very light due to small windows on this floor. The breakfast buffet is good but there is no evening meal service; not a problem as there are of course many good eating places nearby. They do however serve light appetisers to guests in the bar from 6pm. Recommended
The front desk/breakfast staff was helpful but a little standoffish. The hotel its self was very comfortable and in a good location. The family room for 5 was very spacious and extremely comfortable and quiet. We would definitely return.
So glad we chose this hotel for our first visit to Lucca. The front desk and bar staff were very nice and accommodating. Our Jr suite room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was roomy as well with space to store toiletries. Our room was very quiet. The location is perfect, just inside the city walls. Breakfast had a good selection of items. The bar has snacks at 6pm and the bartender there is wonderful. Lucca is a great place to visit and a perfect start to our Tuscan vacation.
We got there late. The room they checked us into had an ac unit that made a lot of noise. So they moved us to a top floor room. Problem, the top floor has covered skylights in which the sun comes streaming in in the morning. Sleep ended at 6 AM. So they moved us to a room on the 3rd floor facing the back. No view at all, but very comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The manager was great, personable, patient and just wonderful. There is secure parking. And even though the hotel is inside the walls of Luca, it is right at the entrance so there is no problem getting in and going straight to the parking lot. Very convenient. The hotel offers free use of Bikes. We road Bikes on top of the walls of Luca. Only 20 minutes to Pisa. Breakfast is very good. Overall, a really nice, Old world, hotel.
I, and three other friends, stayed at the San Luca Palace for three nights. We found the location to be very good and it is nearby the bus stop with easy access to and from the Pisa airport, (within walking distance). The rooms are well appointed and kept very clean, as well as the entire hotel, too. The lobby's common area, bar, restaurant, and outdoor seating area are very comfortable. The entire hotel staff provided us with excellent and professional service. The hotel's breakfast is quite good and satisfying. Also, the hotel has great bicycles that guests can use at no charge to ride atop of the fortress wall and elsewhere...Terrific for working-off your breakfast! A big "THANK YOU" to all of the staff there at the San Luca Palace. Keep up the fantastic work! Your effort was most appreciated!!
Quite a traditional Italian hotel chosen by us because it was just inside the city walls. This made wandering around Lucca easy and gave great access to the town, the walls and the many excellent restaurants. The hotel offered free use of bikes which we used to ride around the walls (approx 3 miles) which gave a good perspective of the town and hopefully burned a few calories as well. Our room was typical and classical Italian, roomy and a little non-descript. It opened onto an internal courtyard which offered little natural light. Breakfast was very average, the hot food quickly ran out and wasn't replenished. One of the female wait staff had a particular attitude problem - this went from initially amusing to quite annoying. Finally, the wifi was free but very patchy. On balance I'd recommend this hotel mainly for it's location.
The San Luca Palace is a well situated luxury Hotel on one of the main streets of Lucca. My husband is disabled and he had a bathroom of his own to suit his needs. Our room had traditional decor and was spacious and comfortable overlooking the cobbled street below. The Hotel has outside space at the front where we could sit and have drinks. Breakfast provided us with lots of choice, all delicious from eggs and bacon to a continental breakfast with fruits and pastries. Snacks were included after 18.00 which I would look forward to. The staff were friendly, efficient and supportive of our needs. Simone the manager ordered a delightful cake for the wedding party at our request as well as transfers to and from Pisa airport. I dream of going back.
This hotel exceeded our expectations. I booked it because we were flying out of PIsa airport the next day and it seemed a good place for our last night. First of all, Lucca is beautiful. I wish that I had more than one day there. This hotel is in a great location. It is right inside the walls, so you can easily bike the walls with the free loaner bikes, or walk into the old city. The staff at reception were very helpful and kind. The room was spacious, clean, and very quiet. The best part was that the next day we simply walked three minutes to the bus stop for the direct bus to Pisa Airport.
The San Luca Palace is a delightful hotel. Service from the front desk was superb. The room was very comfortable. The hotel has an enviable location within the city walls. You shouldn't be disappointed.
