For the low price we paid for a double room this hotel exceeded our expectation. Yes, the property looks old. However, the rooms are clean and the staff are very kind and very helpful. But, there is a problem with parking. The guest must park on a narrow street by the hotel. Sometimes it's difficult to find a place to park the car. But, we were lucky to find a spot. The hotel receptionist, Alexa, is a young vibrant woman with a permanent innocent smile on her face was very helpful in explaining to us where to go in town, where to eat and what to see. She was great. If you're looking for a comfortable place to sleep, close to major attractions, and not to pay a three-figure rate for a room then the Majestic will satisfy you.
Having breakfast on the first morning I realised we had dinner here almost 40 years ago, on a driving holiday to Spain. The restaurant now only serves breakfast ... a good one at 9 euro. It still has the feel of that lovely provincial town ambience and long may it last. We felt our needs were efficiently taken care of by the helpful Manager and staff. We'll return again in 2017.
If arriving by train the Majestic Hotel is situated just a 6 minute or so walk down from the train station, on leaving the station turn right and walk down to the junction and turn turn left and the Majestic is just along on the left hand side next to the Ibis hotel. I arrived very late in the evening and on arrival was welcomed by a very polite and cheerful gentleman who was most helpful and informed me about breakfast times and cost etc. My room was up one flight on the first floor, there is a lift/elevator in case you have heavy luggage, the room was perfect for my needs a nice double bed a reasonable size bathroom and large opening glass double doors which I did not use what with the temperatures outside of minus 4 C. The room was on the corner of the building overlooking the road that runs down from approach which you would take if arriving from the train station, this road can get busy starting about 06.30 I am always up at this time so it was not a problem for me but may bother some people especially if having the double doors open in the hot summer months so it may be something to keep in mind but there of course other rooms available. The breakfast was 9 Euro extra and was fine but I did notice on a few reviews that some people felt it was poor value for money but we are all different in what is enough and what is not but I found that it was a very reasonable selection and 9 Euro was just about right and for me it was certainly good enough to get the day up and running. The hotel reception area and its furniture has a somewhat period look about it, the chairs and sofa along with the table which is also a backgammon table and a large mirror on the wall, it just feels old time homely in some ways as indeed was the room I stayed in with a nice double bed, wall mount television along with a large solid wood wardrobe with it's squeaky door which was not really an issue and with a wood table by the window which did have a couple of very small chips out of it but that's being a bit picky, also a reasonable sized bathroom with a nice strong shower. The room as well as the central staircase are polished wood and the staircase is carpeted. This type of flooring and indeed the open style central staircase has the slight problem in that sound carries so this may also be taken into consideration when looking at the type of hotel you want. If you are going to visit the Grotto come out of the hotel turn left and straight away left again on the road passing the hotel then just ahead you will see railings on either side of the road, at the end of the right hand side one is stairs going down to the road below go down these and walk straight on, this will take you down to the Sanctuaries and to the Grotto itself this will take about 12 minutes. I have also noticed on a number of reviews that people have commented that the hotel looks tired and needs a coat of paint or a complete overhaul, for sure there are areas where a coat of paint would not go amiss, but there is also the point that if is it pristine white Formica type furniture or similar you require that is a personal choice and that's fine I have no issue or problem with that at all and there is a large selection out there to chose from. But if you are looking for a hotel that is not the stereo same as, same as modern interior but has a bit of character about it with wood floors and character furniture and a bit open minded about the odd blemish here and there along with a big plus with very helpful staff who I must say were fantastic through out my stay then this hotel in this low to mid price range may well be what you are looking for. Pleasant simple and comfortable hotel with lovely staff The location of the hotel is great with walking distance from the main attractions Staff I met have been pleasant and professional. They have been very helpful and speak good English Thank you Albert, Roger, Clement and Aurore.
Walking distance to the grotto. Really nice staff. Very comfortable room . Clean room and washroom. Breakfast was good and value for money. Our train to Paris was at 4.30pm and the check out was at 11.00am. They let us stay till 3.00pm without cost. The extra hours was free. Thank you Arora and Roger for ur hospitality. We will definitely visit you once again. Definitely recommend this .
Visited Lourdes for the first time with my husband, for a short weekend break. The hotel is just a good stroll towards the shrine. Thou it is old, down side were the squeaky floors, but the staff were lovely and very helpful. Will definitley come back to stay.
Creaking floors and noise from the road. Asked for a room at the back away from the road but was told there were none available. Not sure about the truth of that. Otherwise room was clean but smelt of smoke altho I did request for a non smoking room, no black out curtains altho' it says so on the hotel voucher. No actual parking spaces but we just parked in front of the hotel and for 1 night, it worked out well.
I stayed here for 3 nights on my first visit to Lourdes. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. My room was on the 2nd floor and I had to squeeze into a small lift- it was fine for me but might be a bit daunting for anyone scared of small spaces. The room was bid with its own bathroom and towels were changed every day. Only negative was that windows opened to the main road which made it very noisy. I asked if I could be moved but only available room had no window and smelt of damp. The first day I took the long way to the sanctuary but then I realised that there are a set of steps on the opposite side of the road that takes you there within a 5 minutes. This meant that I could come back to the hotel for a rest and go back again. The hotel was a few minutes walk from the town centre which had lots of shops, food market, parks and restaurants. From my room I had a view of the mountains. The hotel is 5-6 minutes from the train station. I certainly will stay here again
We enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect, easy to get to from the train station. The staff was very accommodating, allowed us to check in early and leave our luggage after check out to finish our visit in the town. The room was beautiful, with everything we needed for our stay. Would recommend this hotel!
