The Kinney - Venice Beach

This hotel is excellent. The staff were very helpful, the room comfortable, beautifully decorated, clean and modern. Really couldn't fault it. The pool is small, but clean, and the jacuzzi is like a very hot tub. The outdoor lounging area is fun, do play table tennis. There are some local shops nearby and the beach is about a 15 minute walk. Don't miss the killer Shrimp Cafe, or the Venice Whaler for a bite.

We stayed here for 3 nights. It is about a 20 min walk down to Venice Beach or the public bus pulls up out front for $1. There is a bottle shop right next door and lots of restaurants in close proximity. The hotel itself is modern retro, very clean, our room (suite) had 2 flat screen TV's, fridge, coffee making & safe. There is a pool & hot tub with access for disabled and a great little bar area where you can take your own drinks equipped with fridge, sink etc. There is also a table tennis table. Staff are really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. I would definitely stay here again.

I love this hotel! What a sleeping gem in LA -- the staff is amazing and the layout is so unique and vibrant yet comforting at the same time. I travel to LA often for work and when looking for a westside location I stumbled upon this. I've been back again since and it's my new go-to. Definitely book this hotel! You'll love it. Ruby at the front desk is wonderful, as is Aaron the manager.

My husband and I stayed here with our 3 year old son for 2 days. We usually stay at the Farmer's Daughter opposite the Grove as it is convenient to just stroll over there but we wanted a change of scenery. The Kinney is such a wonderful option for families. The suites are roomy, newly furbished with very well made furniture and very clean. The beds are HEAVENLY. Full cable TV. Abbott Kinney is about 15 minutes walk away. The free continental breakfast is great. There is a waffle maker, bagels, bread, toaster, jams, yoghurt, tea, coffee cornflakes etc., You can bring your breakfast back to your room if you wish. Apparently they are planning on offering cooked breakfasts (to purchase) which will be great as there aren't many breakfast options nearby and as the hotel is so comfortable it is quite nice to take your time, chill in the room and stroll down to breakfast when you feel like it. Even though the hotel is motel in size the designers have cleverly laid out areas to relax (indoors and out) and as I mentioned before, the rooms are so comfortable, they are a delight to relax in too. They supply comfortable robes, the bedding is lovely and the lamps cleverly incorporate socket and USB ports. The beds have a cool brass touch point that you just tap to turn the subtle lighting behind the headboard on and off. I would highly recommend the Kinney. Even though the Farmer's Daughter is convenient to pop over to the Grove, we don't go over every day and you'll most likely be driving, taking taxi's or Ubers to places so the Kinney is great. Definitely more inviting and we loved the design and comfort factor.

My family stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night. We had a suite with a pull-out couch. Although the room was small, it was very well-appointed and the decor was so fun, that we didn't really notice how small it was. The bed was really comfortable and my 2 children said the pull-out was comfortable too. There was a really fun rec area with a ping pong table and fire pit. The pool and hot tub were pretty tiny, but it was big enough for my kids to get their last bit of energy out in the afternoon. The continental breakfast was great. Everyone who worked there was really friendly. I highly recommend!

What has been an updated funky style decor is a delight but the best part of this place is people who host you, they are fantastic enthusiastic young hosts. They really make the greeting experience worthwhile coming through the doors the first and every time after. Always looking to help in any fashion. The location is ideal close enough to Venice beach but also amenities around the neighbourhood Venice and Marina del Rey. The breakfast was a good simple layout with friend service. Would definitely use this hotel in the future for my family and group travel that I frequently do.

Went to Venice beach for a long weekend. Had a great time eating, drinking and enjoying everything that the area had to offer. The Restaurants on ABBOTT Kinney were fantastic and golds gym was everything we expected. The hotel was clean and very convenient to all the hot spots in the area. Not fancy, but the bed was very comfy.

Perfect location to explore Venice, Santa Monica, or Culver City. You're no more than. 5 $ uber ride anywhere. Front desk was great, very nice people and extremely accommodating in every way. I would for sure stay again.

Definitely a good place to stay with bags more personality than the chains. The decor was great, really fun. We had a lovely, big room with comfortable beds and pillows, which was cleaned very well. The courtyard area was also a hit - small but perfectly formed with a small pool, jacuzzi (both heated), sunloungers, ping pong tables and a sofa area with fire pit. Location was great - bit of a walk, but definitely accessible to Venice Beach. It's worth hiring the bikes from The Kinney - the rate is the same as all the places closer to the beach but their bikes are definitely newer than the beach places. The only reason we didn't hire was because they didn't have kids bikes. The breakfast was basic, but completely fine. The kids loved making their own waffles. On the whole, the staff were really friendly and helpful. The only downside was our room was on the road, which was noisy. We had earplugs so managed fine - but it's worth asking for a room the other side if this will bother you. Plus we had a strange conversation at check in regarding parking. We had parked on the street outside the hotel, had read the sign and just wanted assurance that the car would be fine following a long flight with two kids and a nightmare wait of 3 hours getting out of the airport and getting our hire car. The lady at reception wouldn't say if it was okay??!! I don't know whether they were trying to push their valet parking, which is expensive at $25 a day. Surely the hotel would know of the parking regulations outside their own hotel?! For those that want to avoid the cost of valet parking, we street parked for free for 5 days with no problem. Right next to the hotel was free all day - you just need to move the car on the morning of the street cleaning (as per the sign) and, for non- Americans, don't park where the curb is painted red. The opposite side of the street is 2 hour parking from 9am, which is fine for overnight as long as you move the car by 11am.

Perfect location, a stone's throw away from Venice Beach. Lovely rooms and decor. Beautiful and polite service all around. The only slight downside is the breakfast selection which is slightly limited but still perfectly good. All in all, a perfect boutique hotel for both business travellers and getaway seekers.
