Lovely cottage in a magical location

We had a lovely week in Alice’s cottage. We decided to leave the car at home and travel to Cornwall by train, which was very easy and stress free. With the cottage being only 1.5miles along the estuary to Looe, we had easy access to transport links, coastal walks and pubs and restaurants. Alice’s cottage is cosy and very well equipped for a long stay. The beds were really comfy and little touches like having cooking oil, salt, pepper, herbs and tea bags was much appreciated, especially as we didn’t have a car to drive to the shop.

Relaxing retreat

Our 3rd stay at Alice's cottage was as good as the 1st. We love the rural location with all the wildlife and just a stones throw from the river. The quirkiness of the old cottage is fun with its slanty floor's and stairs. The kitchen is compact but with everything you need at hand. A wonderful peaceful retreat tucked away from the rest of the bustling world! We'll be back again soon!

Pleasent stay

The stay at the cottage was a perfect location for the stay. Our only criticism was the cottage could do with a spruce up as some of the interior was tired looking from paint missing in the walls the bathroom sink cupboard needs replacing due to water damage, the rugs could do with a good clean. The cottage was quite dark and need the lights on. On a plus side the beds were really comfortable.

Enjoyable stay in a quirky cottage in a great location.

The cottage was big enough for the two of us and our Westie. The layout was odd with the kitchen being on another floor, but maybe we are "nit picking" and it probably had been mentioned in the property listing. The owners supplied wood for the wood burning stove (this was a first for us) and was excellent for the cooler evenings. The location was fantastic and the weather was brilliant. We met the owners who were very friendly and nice people. This was our first time in the Looe area of Cornwall, which we enjoyed, but thought that Looe itself, was "past it's sell by date" and we thought it was scruffy and looked "uncared" for.

Lovely stay

A very pleasant week at the property. The cottage is delightful and very well furnished with lots of nice touches and the owners have thought of everything (eg bbq, fireplace, high speed internet and anything else you need etc). The location is stunning (right next to the West Looe River) and pleasantly secluded and quiet.

Secluded hideaway in a very tranquil setting

This is a very quaint little cottage in a beautiful setting of extreme tranquility. If you enjoy nature and kayaking/paddle boarding this property is literally a stones throw away from the estuary and it is fun to join others on the water in their adventures. There is a constant sound of a babbling brook which is very relaxing and the garden area seems private despite being on the front of the property. The cottage is well equipped and has everything that you need. Walking to Looe is easy and peaceful by following the estuary along and through a woodland. There is a beached area along the path at low tide which s excellent for spotting deer, foxes and water birds. This cottage is an wonderful retreat if you're looking to get away from absolutely everything. Lantic Bay is an absolute must and is the most beautiful place that we'd ever been to in this county. It's not for the faint hearted though as the roads are extremely narrow, but it would be on our must do list every time. It literally took our breath away with its yachts and crystal blue waters.

Terrific short break

My wife and I needed a break from our home in south west London and this was idyllic. A delightful property in a gorgeous location a woodland walk away from Looe and we were blessed with good weather throughout. Loved it and wished we’d had more time here.

Beautiful House in Gorgeous Setting

We were so happy in this beautiful house which is set in the most gorgeous valley. Dawn and Keith could not have been kinder and the facilities at the house were superb. We couldn’t believe how well we slept and this was due to the wonderful bed and quality bedding. We were treated to the most wonderful scones, cream and jam on arrival and the kitchen is very well equipped if you wish to spend time here! We chose to explore the area and were extremely fortunate to have excellent weather. Alice’s Cottage is spotlessly clean and you couldn’t wish to have nicer people to deal with.

Perfect retreat

We had a brilliant stay at Alice's Cottage. The place was immaculate when we arrived and it made us feel very 'safe' in these Covid times. One of the best equipped cottages we have ever stayed in with really good quality bits and pieces. The bedding was wonderful and I had the best week's sleep in ages! The wood burner was cosy and lovely to have on in the evenings. The walk alongside the river to Looe is very pretty and well worth doing as it is right on the doorstep. We feel very lucky to have managed to fit this stay in just before lockdown was announced . Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Just as good second time around!

This was our second stay at Alice’s cottage and although our first visit was four years ago it was just as good as the first! Very clean and tidy in a wonderful setting just a few short steps from the river. Super quiet with the exception of the noisy owl late at night and the other birds during the day. A huge thanks for the tasty treats left for our arrival they went down wonderfully well that evening in front of the roaring fire. Overall Alice’s Cottage is a wonderful retreat from the everyday humdrum of modern life with its quirky stairs and sloping floors. It sits nestled in quiet and beautiful surroundings just a stones throw from a gorgeous Coastline. We will be back and will most definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in that area. Thanks again to Dawn and Keith for another super holiday.

Fabulous Cottage, magic location.

Lovely looking cottage, fell in love with it on arrival, also such a charming, quiet out of the way location. The cottage itself is just as lovely inside, gorgeous wood burner and fireplace with beautiful leather settee and easy chair in the lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped with quality furnishings and utensils and the bedrooms are excellent, the room we used had a really comfortable bed and plenty drawers and hanging space. Couldn’t recommend this cottage more, loved the week here, stunning.

Wonderful UK Staycation

We had a wonderful week-long break at Alice's Cottage. The location is incredibly peaceful and the walk into Looe along the river is very enjoyable. The cottage is well-equipped with all mod cons. The welcome pack on arrival was great; enormous home-made scones with jam and clotted cream, as well as 2 pints of milk in the fridge. Towards the end of our stay, we received a courtesy call from the owner (Dawn) to make sure we had enjoyed our stay, which was a nice touch. All in all, a fab base for exploring all of the marvellous sites of this part of Cornwall. Visits to Looe, Polperro and Fowey are a must!

A great all-rounder!

The cottage is as wonderful as the pictures show and better. It's quirky layout lends to a sense of adventure and an insight into the history of the area. A 30 min walk under the canopy of oak trees, surrounded by ferns and exposed rock face on one side, the river teaming with wildlife on another, takes you into Looe with it's sandy beach, boutique gift and craft shops, family-owned restaurants and bakeries packed full of legendary Cornish pasties and other delights. Close enough to lots of tourist attractions (we visited Eden). We would definitely visit again, to make more priceless family memories.

A cosy little cottage in a beautiful setting. It was exceptionally clean and well equipped and the cream tea on arrival was most welcome. It was an easy walk into Looe through the woods and we did that a few times. We often enjoyed a cuppa in the front garden after a day out or just wandered down to the river to soak up the tranquility. Despite lots of busy days, we came home feeling like we’d actually had a really relaxing week.

Lovely cottage. Very clean and well furnished with quality linens and utensils. Much appreciated scones and cream tea provided on arrival with fresh milk for hot drinks. We went with our daughter and our two year old grandson. We used the travel cot in the main bedroom and felt very comfortable. The river is just a few metres away and is situated in fields and woodland. Our grandson loved paddling in the little streams flowing into the river. His wellies came in handy! The weather was superb and we had a lovely holiday in Looe. We met Keith and Dawn and they were lovely hosts. Thankyou.
