Novotel Lombok Resort and Villas4.0 out of 5.0

We stayed for 5 days at this beautiful hotel. We got an upgrade to a beach front villa with private pool, due to low occupancy. Some bargaining was necessary, but the result was definitely worth it! Great bed, huge and comfortable bathroom. Nice bar, but clumsy, manual billing system with loose pieces of paper, pen and pencil and a primitive calculator. You’re not sure if the bill is correct in the end. The drinks are also relatively expensive. Strangely enough, the restaurant right next to the bar has a modern, computerized cash register. Food is good when ordered a la carte, but the buffets are average. The resort is a bit too far from Kuta to walk, so you need private transport. Unfortunately no taxis in Kuta, and prices are high compared to Senggigi where they have excellent and cheap Bluebird taxis. All in all, the hotel is great, the beach beautiful, the staff super friendly, but the bar should get a modern till. Despite the bar, we would certainly come back.
Everything was excellent but the booking system was very confusing and kept giving us extra room eventho we do not want it. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit hot but comfortable nevertheless
We loved the private beach with the little canopies with platforms where we could read, or just watch the waves. We were very happy with the room and the service. The concept and layout of the resort is really neat. I loved the thatched roofs everywhere. The place could use an update though. It's starting to show its age. Great services including on-site scooter rental, and airport transfer. The only reason that I'm giving this 4 bubbles instead of 5 is that is was a little more expensive than its worth in my opinion. It's the only beachfront resort in town right now though (the rest of the lodging options are more basic), so if you're looking for a resort, this is the only game in town. I'm glad we stayed here, since it was part of our honeymoon.
We stayed 2 adults with 3 children 10,12,14 years in September for 7 nights. All had fun and relaxed as well. Great location, hotel taxi ride into Kuta town is $7 return, great for dinners but limited shopping. We did the Sasak Village Tour, Monkey feeding morning walk and Local Market Tour, all well worth it. Ate well at Golden Nugget, El breeze and Sapori restaurants for diner for approximately $50 each night South Lombok is much drier and not as humid as Bali, very hot during the middle of the day. Avoid Mawun beach (dirty and full of hawkers) and go to Selong Belanak, the most beautifuil white sandy beach in both Lombok and Bali. Just avoid the Selong Belanak surf boys and their broken surf board scam. Sumi is a great driver and tour leader. Segers surfbreak out the front is unpredictable, get a driver or bike to Tanjun ann, Grupuk or Mawi Jan, the General Manager is always visible and easy to talk to.
Novatel is still the only resort in the underdeveloped Kuta beach area. Although 20 years old the resort has been well maintained with plenty of activities such as aqua aerobics, beach volleyball, swimming (pools and ocean), monkey feeding, market tour, sunrise and sunset walks. Staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast and other buffets are excellent value, especially when combined with the happy hours on beach and in bar.
We were truly disappointed from this resort. First of all there is no such thing as privacy. Other guests walking by our villa had free view on everything like our neighbours as well. The staff entered several times, even the privacy sign was on. Without further notice the water was turned off while I was showering, shampoo everywhere. But what bothered me the most was the greasy Restaurant. Food was below expectations. The furnish and everything you touch is sticky and greasy all the way. The breakfast juice spenders are so dirty, you don‘t want to even try it. The club sandwich ruined two of my days, and I had to stay in the bungalow. This hotel tries to be a 4 star but it really isn‘t.
My husband and I stayed for a week end of September. We had a standard room and the room itself was spacious and inviting however it didnt have a balcony or open space so keep in mind when booking if you want a room that can have some fresh air. We were on the 3rd floor. We found the staff very friendly throughout the resort, the massage and spa centre is very good and a wide range of services. Overall we were very happy with quality of resort and quality of the food and activities (the crepes at breakfast are amazing!!). One down point though is the plastic pollution on the beach and around the resort. It would be nice if a brand name like the Novotel could lead the community is taking rubbish of the beaches and u feel awful drinking from plastic bottles so I would like the hotel invest in glass bottles of complimentary water in the room rather than the plastic. Also maybe paper straws with drinks then plastic. Every little bit counts! I ended up saving one straw to use a few times. With all that said the Novotel is in a good location and still quite secluded but around 5 new resorts are being built near by. If we come back to Lombok we would happily stay here again.
The resort is beautiful. They have private beach area. Thank you for upgrading my room freely. It was helping me so much because I went there with little kids so no need to worried about the stairs. The hotel also provide kids menu on their room service with very reasonable price. One of my favourite dish is nasi campur lombok, you have to try and it was not too spicy. Just for info they put two big mineral water (1lt) and it cost more than 70k for both without any notice. The minus thing is that Kuta Area has major construction nowadays. The government plan to make integrated area (Mandalika Resort Project) and it makes some of mind road is covering by gravel. Also some public beach are affected.
This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. It is a beautiful traditional Sasak style hotel and Villas. The hotel is a stand alone hotel which is surrounded by untouched beauty. The hotel boasts a private beachfront that is lined with traditional barunga style huts making lazing the day away so much more comfortable. Staff are very friendly and attentive. We love this place so much, we have already booked a return trip.
The resort is in a beautiful but remote spot so that unfortunately nearby kuta lombok cant be reached on foot. The native style decor was enjoyable. Our room was very comfortable, clean and well maintained and reached via a well ventilated corridor cooled by ocean breezes. Beach and pools were fantastic with many seating options usually easily obtained. We had been informed there was a surfing spot just in front of resort which wasnt the case but there was a nearby spot which may work at times. Good swimming beach until tide went out and delicious breakfasts. Meals and drinks were on the expensive side (++) and not particularly tasty so we sometimes ate in town. We cant speak highly enough of the staff - helpful, organised, well-trained, cheerful, capable personable and hard working. I would stay here again
