Just returned from a 4 night stay few key take aways. Staff were fantastic and accomodating (even when our smoke alarm decided to go awol at 4am). Room was spacious with everything you need air con worked perfectly. Perhaps a little dated if that concerns you. Location was one concern we had after reading the reviews. However its a 10 minute ride to the center with plenty of places to stop along the way. All in all loved it will be back Joel & Shelley
Its my first time in Gili Trawangan and we choose this hotel for 3 days stay. One room can be filled as many as 4 people, but just 2 people can enjoyed breakfast or u can adding additonal person for breakfast. I have good experience in this hotel, all hotel crew have good serve. Have big swimming pool, but for breakfast do not have much choice. This hotel very recommended who want Quiet atmosphere. This Hotel Wi-Fi have good signal in room, good for blogger like me. You can rent cycle in this hotel, and inside front of hotel you can paid for diving
Even though the hotal is nice . Bit I personally find it little mean.as I fell down in hotal and for first aid they asking 10 time higher price.. aren't they supposed to give fisrtaid for free.in the middle of the night where I go to find anything in a small island.even though they have 24 hr hospital but you can't go there .they only selling medicine on higher , extrmly higher price .that time o feel so irritated and disappointed.staff always seeks tip .apart from they didnt help in pain.. hotal is nice
Hi Ombak Sunset Hotel First of all I would like to praise the Hotel for having a really good view of the Sunset! It has been breathtaking and I guess this was the highlight of the hotel. I guess most of the tourist or travelers picked the hotel because of the view and its renowned Sunset Swing. Good Job in maintaining this sell out point. The beach was well maintained with Dinner served and was Movie screening! It was a good effort for the hotel. Next moving on to the check in. It was fast and precise and we managed to obtain an upgrade. It was nice of the hotel to give us an upgrade.(I guess it was a low period or we had checked in late) Nevertheless, Thank you for the upgrade. Room was Alright with basic necessities, the place was rather old built with the design of traditional Indonesian concept. Room was also spacious for you to place your belongings everywhere you would want. I would like to highlight some issues with the bathroom! We noticed that the water turns yellowish on some occasions. It goes on and off causing some inconvenience whenever we require water. Perhaps the management could look into it. All in all, it was an ok stay. If you like a place away from the busy street of Gili T and has everything catered for. This would be a good recommendation.
Pros Nice dining area on the beach , great place for sunset Great place for taking picture Big Swimming pool Lush garden, big trees, very exotic place, lots of trees and plants Snorkling and bicycle rental shop behind the Swimming pool Cons -Far away from ferry pier, the only transportation if u come with the luggage is take horse transport , cost me Rp.100, 000 for one pax, 2 people will cost Rp.150,000 -When I arrived, the security guy ask me to leave my luggage at the entrance while I proceed to check in ,after finished check in and walk to my room, the guy didn't aware that I have a luggage , check in counter staff also didn't ask my luggage Rent a bicycle to explore the island, be careful at night time, certain area is dark without light -Breakfast was very average -Dinner on the beach was average, expensive and very slow, i was waiting more than 30 minutes to get my 2 skewer of seafood which cost me Rp.120,000 including free flow of rice, vegetable , soup and fruit. Soup was not good. Not recommended to get dinner, drink should be ok -Beach seat or chair all full during sunset , they should manage it well, like minimum spent and for hotel guest only. I was end up sit on the sand I was sitting on the pool after along day snorkeling activity, when happy hour start, a guy walk around the pool to offer happy hour promo to all Caucasian guest, and skip me twice, just because I am an Asian? LOL that's bad
If you have seen people who posted their photos in an ocean swing, then this is the Hotel with those famous ocean swings! The Hotel is located in Gili Trawangan. It took 10 minutes ride with private boat from Teluk Nara (it costs around IDR 350 K per person). As the Hotel is located in the other side of the Port, you can either walk for 20-30 minutes or if you bring luggage, you can take kodomo ride a traditional vehicle pulled by a horse) which cost you around IDR 100-150 from the Port. Remember, THERE IS NO VEHICLE ALLOWED IN THE GILI! We stayed at Sunset Bungalow. The room was spacious, with an open bathroom. The Hotel is literally in front of the beach. A perfect place to see the sunset!
Excellent location no doubt. Nice rooms. But i felt they need to do a little more work on the maintenance front. In a short stay of two days there were problems with water supply and airconditioning. Food choices need to be definitely worked upon especially keeping families with children in mind. Both my kids were miserable but thankfully we got much better choices at the neighbouring aston sunset for food. Hotel staff was very pleasant but again the restaurant staff needs to be taught a little more of smiling.
This hotel is absolutely atrocious, and it would be the last place you'd want to spend a night, let alone more nights as part of a nice holiday. The layout and architecture of this hotel is nice, and clearly a lot of thought was put into it, however it is completely run down, old, not taken care of and dirty. It is as if they received their star rating and then completely gave up on doing anything and removed all the nice furniture from the rooms - they are very bare, dents and scratches on everything, wallpaper is coming off the walls, there are brown and wet stains everywhere, bugs on the ground in the hallway and anything else you can imagine. When you look at the hotel through booking.com it seems fine and the price is enticing but trust me, the pictures do not portray it all and it is far from a pleasant resort. It's even the smallest things such as bike rental at an extra fee per day (75,000 per day which is around €5) where as other places offer it for free. We also stayed in Cinta Cottages and that place was absolutely unbelievable and same goes for pink coco. Would highly recommend this places. Compared to Indonesian standards, where staff are extremely nice, the staff here were fine - although the manager did make fun of me and my girlfriend when we requested to see another room because the one we were given was filthy. The rooms are very bare. The bathrooms are mouldy and old (I showered in flip flops just to be safe and my girlfriend refused to shower altogether).
We used the restaurant and one of the steaks was of poor quality (couldn't actually cut it) so we asked to swap it for something else. There then was a slight disputed about the bill but Jeffery, the trainee front of house, was fantastic! Very polite, funny and couldn't do enough for you. It's a shame that his supervisor didn't handle the situation and instead sent a trainee. Would go back again, just to see Jeffery.
We stayed at ombak sunset at the beginning of June for our honeymoon - I let the hotel know before arrival that it was our honeymoon and they kindly decorated the room and brought us cake later in the evening - it was very sweet of them. If I'm honest - I was extremely worried about staying at sunset ombak due to the previous reviews. I think there is two ways of looking at your stay here - if you want complete tranquility and peace for your stay/honeymoon and your used to five star hotels than I wouldn't recommend. If your just after somewhere nice to stay with friendly staff and a decent pool - than this is perfect for you. The hotel is further enough away for a quiet stay and about a 10/15 minute bike journey away from the harbour - which have some lovely restaurants. We are used to budget hotels with good location so it was ok for us - the island bungalow was really cute and we got bikes included in our package. My only criticism about the bungalow is the air con and there is no long mirror. The breakfast - was not up to our taste. We didn't bother going back after one attempt to try. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel but we did have pizza and chips by the pool which tasted fine and were reasonably priced. The staff were really nice - very friendly and made you feel really welcome. I think the hotel should supply buckets of water for the horses outside - they looked so so hot. I wouldn't recommend booking snorkelling with the hotel - we didn't enjoy our experience and whilst I appreciate some of the things (sea water filthy) were not the companies fault - they should have made us aware before booking and taken time to ensure we were ok (but that's a different matter/review) Gili is a lovely island and the sunsets ombak is really nice - I think it just depends what your after/looking for in the hotel/honeymoon.
