Villa Marjane3.0 out of 5.0

The location in the suburbs of Orleans makes this hotel mostly suited for travellers going by car. The hotel is small and traditional, and I'm sure all rooms are different. It has a nice garden in fairly quiet surroundings, and is really superb value, with a friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent.
We had just travelled north from Brive (5 hours in the car) and required a stop over for the night before we travelled on the next day. My wife and I wanted a good night's rest in a hotel that was unlikely to have any noisy kids or rowdy party goers. We also wanted to eat out in a good restaurant, have some fine wine and to see the sights of Orleans. We found Villa Marjane easily enough (enter the actual address into the sat nav rather than the name of the hotel) and onsite parking was provided. We were greeted warmly by David who is an exceptionally charming fellow. Thankfully his English is fluent so he did not have to put up with my very poor (although understandable French). I had booked a twin room as my wife and I are very tall people and sadly not as thin as we used to be (sigh). I had previously read that the beds in the double rooms were very 'snug' due in large to the compact and bijou size of the rooms themselves. Our room was well appointed although the bath/ shower room and toilet was a bit of squeeze. But, for one night only it didn't matter. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room was not too hot or too cold so I presume it must have had some kind of temperature control. The room was quiet even though we were at the front of the hotel and close to the main road. David, very kindly supplied us with information of two restaurants that he recommended (more about the restaurant we selected Bistro 222 in Orleans in another review) and he also booked the cab for us. He provided us with business cards for both the cab company and Villa Marjane so that we could get back again. Whilst we waited for the cab we each enjoyed a splendid glass of house red wine (yum!). The hotel closes at 10:00pm so David gave us keys so that we could let ourselves back in. We were also extremely lucky as Orleans had the Loire Festival along the banks of the river Loire whilst we were there (20th September) and there was plenty of live music, dancing, stalls selling all kinds of stuff, food, wine, clothes (anything you can think of) and the place was 'alive' Breakfast next day (not included with room) was sumptuous for a Continental style breakfast and is served right up to 10:00am. Lots to choose from and plenty of it. Although in my opinion nothing can beat a 'Full English' this was good enough to come in a close second. David was available once again at the reception desk and greeted us with his warm smile. Overall, our stay was tremendous. The pricing is competitive, the rooms although small are well appointed and the beds and pillows comfortable (I did ask for extra pillows when booking the room as some places can give you just the one and I'm fed up with folding the pillow in half). The breakfast was great and David made you feel extremely welcome on arrival. When we left, we had the feeling that we had stayed at a friend's house. A really nice place to stay for a couple on a short break and thoroughly recommended! Well done David and Villa Marjane
Friendly and helpful check in, plenty of local advice. Small but comfortable room ( not a lot of spare space!) clean and quiet. Reasonable car parking spaces. A ten minute drive out of Orleans centre. Well worth a stay.
We stayed here on a stopover on the way to the South of France in August. It is very easy to find and is a lovely hotel. We had a family room which was almost like two separate rooms. Fab when you want to watch telly while the kids sleep. The breakfast was really lovely and in a great room but probably a bit steep for the kids. £11 for each of them when they hardly ate a thing adds up. The hotel has plenty of free parking space. It's a short drive to the main part of town and we found parking quite easily.
First impressions count, and the warm and friendly welcome when we checked in set the tone for an enjoyable stay. The room, while a bit cramped, was clean with comfortable beds, so a good place to recover from jet lag before driving further south. The breakfast, which we enjoyed in the peaceful garden, was tasty and generous with an excellent choice of food. We chose the hotel for its secure parking, but the exceptional care from the hosts is what would make us want to return.
We arrived and were given the key for a ground floor room as we had dogs, the room was very clean and modern and had a lovely ensuite bathroom. We did feel like we were being a nuisance to the hotel owners having to ring a bell to buy a drink at the bar, we ordered a sushi takeaway which was called in for us by the Hotel Owner , we speak little French and could not have ordered this without his help , so thank him dearly! If we found ourselves back in Orleans again we would be happy to stay at Villa Marjane again. Loved being able to boil our own eggs at breakfast!!
Stayed here during September 2016 for a night on our way to the South and 2 nights on our way home. Both stay's were in different rooms, one small and one large. Both rooms were clean and tidy, was worth the money for a larger room. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and spoke good English. They made good suggestions for places and restaurants to visit given the short amount of time we had to explore. The only downside is that is a long walk into the centre of Orleans, but I knew that before I booked it. I chose this hotel due to its secluded and secure parking given we had all our valuables and a Roofbox for camping. Would recommend this Hotel to anyone dong a short stay or stopover in Orleans. Breakfast was great too!
Nice hotel. Good bed and good breakfast. This is a hotel in which you are a customer and not a room number. Five minutes drive away from Orleans Centre. A recommended stop traveling from north to south
We only stayed one night but the room was nicely furnished, the bed very comfortable and a very clean and modern bathroom. The breakfast is situated in a delightful conservatory with lots of fresh produce. The host is charming and engages with all the guests. A very nice place to stay.
Reconditioned older hotel. Very warm and friendly, comfortable room, prettily decorated. Good breakfast in the morning. Proprietors speak english. This place must have been out in the country at one time but now is surrounded by the suburbs of Orlean. Downtown Orleans is only a few minutes away by car. However parking and driving in the old part of Orleans is hairy. Parking at the hotel is free.
