Novotel Orléans St Jean de Braye4.0 out of 5.0

Well equipped out of town hotel with a new restaurant and good outdoor facilities being remodelled while we were there. Easy to get to by car A bit far out from the city of Orleans, Euro 25 taxi each way but the city tram system is a 20 minute walk away and gets you there and back for 3 Euros. There is also a bus route taking you into town running past the hotel, not as quick as the tram but less walking. The hotel's restaurant is very good with some 12 Euro main courses while there is an excellent Italian Restaurant only 50 metres from the rear exit of the hotel, part of a chain but excellent pizzas prepared on site with fresh pizza dough. The Festival Du Loire was on while we were there which is a brilliant event with stuff going on all day and evening.
This is always our 1st night stop in France and find it an excellent hotel and even better now the refurbishment is completed so is lovely and comfy with mod cons in the room. The bathroom has a spacious walk in shower, the breakfast is always good and will keep you going all day
A poor experience on check in as the receptionist didn't have much idea. No cups in the room, so has to go on a hunt to be able to make a cup of tea using the kettle and tea bags which were provided. The sheet was too small for the bed, leaving the mattress exposed under the pillows. The breakfast, though good, didn't seem up to usual Novotel standards.
Toilet was dirty. 1 tea bag and 2 milk for a family room. Looked like it was going tbrough a refurb. Housekeepers very rude. Waiting staff had no idea what they were doing. Simming pool was closed off.
We love the look of the renovated rooms. The hotel is now as "stylish" in the reception, lounge and restaurant as in the bedrooms. It's a vibrant, glistening contemporary deco, with the use of lush velvet fabrics in pumpkin shade in the room we had, amazing blue clouds sofas in the Lounge and more subtle tints of pale yellow and cream on the dining chairs. If you like a touch of glamour, It's worth the few extra kilometres away from the motorway. The staff at the reception really friendly. Surprisingly the barmaid didn't know what a Kirk royal was. The breakfast is not the best Novotel can offer, but we all found something we could eat. Now that there is no extra door pass the bedroom entrance door, the noises from the corridor and and other doors clothing is more noticeable. The walk in Shower is really great but there is no more bathtub.
Stayed for one night on our way north. Room was everything you would expect from a Novotel - clean, spacious and air-conditioned, well equipped and, it would seem, very recently refurbished. Indeed the whole hotel was busy with the bustle of workmen fitting carpets, fixing lifts and fitting electrical equipment (WiFi?). It seems they have undergone some significant refurbishment and are nearing the end of this process. Generally, the hotel was very clean and smart. There were a few issues with staff who appeared inexperienced and some lacked the finesse of professionally trained hospitality staff. For example, we had just booked in and started unpacking when there was a knock on the door and before we could answer a woman burst in wanting to take photographs (she had clearly thought the room was empty but courtesy would dictate waiting a reasonable time before opening the door). In the bar, one of the staff was looking for a bottle of 'gin and tonic' until a colleague explained that she had to make it up herself. 😂 Generally, staff seemed unfamiliar with the hotel as if they had all been recently appointed and there didn't appear to be an experienced manager coordinating and leading the staff. We had an evening meal in the hotel and portions were very generous and generally well presented. Breakfast was also very good and of the high standard you would expect of Novotel. The staff member in charge of breakfast was initially quite rude because he was not present when we arrived and there was nowhere set for us to sit so we started arranging a table for ourselves. He warmed a little later on. Overall, a very smart and comfortable hotel and once the staff have settled in I'm sure it will be an even better place to stay.
The breakfast here is very poor quality and service. We arrived at breakfast at 7am as had an early start and they were not ready for use, staff standing around doing nothing. No butter no utensils and on;y 2 rashers of bacon on the hot plate....we are a family of 4!!! The breakfast is very expensive for what is available. I have complained and waiting to see if I receive a refund.
We had an excellent night here. Friendly and helpfull staff. They helped with the babycot, and with the sofabed for the kids. We used this hotel as an overnight stop. The pool was really refreshing after a long drive. A nice breakfast with lot's of choice. It has a nice restaurant. Very clean room and bathroom. I would really recommend it. We had a good experience. If we ever pass by again. We book it again. There was some construction going on outside but it didn't bother us.
We stayed here to break up the drive from Calais to the Dordogne The staff were very friendly, the bedroom was very clean and modern. The breakfast was family focused and worked well for us. We will certainly stay here again.
Stayed here for two nights the hotel is under going a refurbishment but l was given a room that had been done which was really nice overlooking the pool the Resturant and bar was spotlessly clean lovely continental breakfast and excellent evening meal and the staff were very pleasant
