I particularly enjoyed the staff. They were friendly and helpful. My wife and I made a few friends we will stay in touch with. The location is great. Right by the reserve. Short cab ride to the falls, the airport, and the wonderful Cafe Zambezi.
This was a trip made within a short notice and it was entirely work-related. I didn't get a chance to explore the area but I hope to get another chance to do so. I liked the African themed architecture, thatched roof, etc. It made me feel at home. The highlight of the trip was my assigned driver, Mwiya commonly known as Biggie. He's such a jovial man, made me laugh throughout our drive to the hotel from the airport and back the next day. His good nature was further brought to the fore when he noticed my mobile phone which I'd forgotten in the car on my way back to the airport. Such an honest individual. If you get to stay there, request for Biggie, he'll make your day. Ms. Natasha was so helpful, she offered me the quickest check-out ever! I also spoke with Virginia who assisted to prepare my phone for dispatch via DHL. All in all, Chrismar has such friendly staff. The hotel/duty manager for 3/5/2019 allowed me to extend my use of the meeting room beyond the time booked! Thanks to Roy and his partner for suggesting and serving me the scrumptious bream for lunch. Such value for money. I look forward to another visit, this time in a more relaxed manner and for an extended period.
I loved it. The Wifi was very good, the pool bar is divine and service excellent. Very clean. Stuff was friendly and went out of their way to help us. Including taking us for a free ride. At night elephants tried to enter the yard but the guard chased them away. Lots of wildlife around. Most tourist amenities are around and easy to book from the lobby of the hotel. Great value!
The Chrismar is a very friendly, efficient hotel. The staff are helpful. Facilities are good. It's an excellent place from which to explore the many sites in the Livingstone area that there are to see: national park, Victoria Falls, etc. I was the organizer for a conference which was being held at the Chrismar and, despite the many challenges that our group presented, the staff adapted and helped so that all went smoothly. I found it a very pleasing environment in which to be.
Stayed there with conference , we got charged for the slightest thing WiFi is free but extra charge added for special WiFi ! Food adequate as it was free but definitely not 4 star Did not see one person in pool Hotel pickup was fine both ways Rooms are ok , but poor construction meant mine was infested with mosquitoes and had to be twice fumigated The body of stagnant water at the rear did not help It’s near the game reserve but a good taxi ride to falls and town Air con worked Tv had few local channels only Tip if you order a cab from reception you will be charged double ie $10 Fare to town and falls should only be $5 in local , try and get number for local driver Ive attached example of chap who returned an Mac air we left in his cab Would not choose to use it again
It's my first negative comment ever, when I usually just ignore average experience. Every single marketing element is fake or just an illusion. If you arrive by air the pick up will not be assured if you arrive à victoria falls (only livingstone airport but the reception will not let you know until you are arrived spoiling nicely the whole afternoon) We made a reservertion for 5 (3+2) and have been ask to pay for an extra bed... which I had to refuse obviously We had 2 rooms, none of them didi properly close, as well as the windows, which is very nice for the mosquito protection but quite challengeable in a malaria infected country. The air conditioning wasn't operating so we first hunted hundreds of mosquitos, after having found some batteries for the remote control at reception... TV not working no wifi in room (too far away from the reception...) tub was leaking generating a flooding in the bathroom should you ask a map of the hotel area you will get a map of zambia the personnel is try to help and actually is willing to serve you the best they can but it is still far away from a **** hotel the only compensation we got was a free shuttle to go back to livingstone airport. so my only advise is RUN AWAY from this hotel
I stayed one week for a conference. The general ambience was fine. House keeping needed improvement. Toiletries were partially replenished. Often we had to call for the towels. Refreshments in the room were not supplied from the third day onwards.
I know some have slated this hotel in the past for being not up to 4 star standard, however my experience was a homely, comfortable and wonderful friendly experience when I stayed there this January as I was attending a retreat as a Board member for a local orphanage. The staff were amazing and so helpful - nothing was too much trouble! The pool was a dream (when I had time to relax) and the room was comfortable, air conditioned and if I needed anything I simply had to ask! They are a wonderful team at the Chrismar Hotel and care about their customers. No its not the Royal Livingstone, but I wouldn't want to stay there anyway its too pretentious! The food is basic and simple, however there are lots of up-market restaurants around if you want that sort of thing. The Kudu stew was delicious and the spinach & chicken pannini was a particular favourite! At the Chrismar, what you get is real life, real people, warm & caring Africans who work very hard to keep their customers happy. Thank you all! See you next January !!!
The wifi didn't reach further than the reception, which was a dissapointment. The restaurant was very simple and we only ate there once. Breakfast was ok. The whole atmosphere was one of a hotel that had seen better days. The room was boring, small tv, few channels, no wifi.
This hotel was chosen to be assembly and relaxation point for all the wedding guests coming from near and far. All the rooms were booked out and the staff dedicated to serve our needs, for the duration of the stay ... 10 days . The actual wedding took place at a nearby resort. The staff was really helpful and friendly. On our arrival at 2:00 am, the service from the staff was excellent. They quickly organized the luggage and room keys and led us to our allotted rooms. The luggage was delivered about five minutes afterwards. The room was adequate for our needs, double bed with a beautifully decorated mosquito net, clean and well laid out, with A/C , small fridge, modern flat screen TV and a functioning safe. Wi-Fi.is free but works best in the lobby area. The bathroom was typical with shower Jacuzzi tub, sink and toilet. However the toile was swarming with mosquitoes, hence the need for the net. . I enjoyed all the meals that were served although as expected they were different from the traditional western dishes. The hotel location is a plus since it is next to a game park and if you are lucky you can watch elephants strolling on the front lawn in early morning and late afternoon Also it is about a twenty minute drive to the famous Victoria Falls. The hotel has a swim up pool bar that was being renovated and not in use. In fact the hotel is showing its age and it needs a lot of maintenance work to bring it back to its glory days. The hotel rooms are designed as 3 unit cabanas spread over the property and together with a well manicured grounds with flowers and trees the whole atmosphere is one of tranquillity until nighttime.Being located close to the main building has the advantage of everything being close at hand. The disadvantage is that any activity around the main building is telegraphed into the bedroom making it difficult to sleep. There are big gaps above and below the front door that let the music and the mosquitoes and other bugs. On the whiteness scale the bathroom linens comes in around 6-7 on a 10 point scale. Only the shower was used and many times during showering, the water pressure will drop leaving only a fast drip to complete your shower. In conclusion I give the staff a 9 out of 10 for their dedication and service.
