Mercure Liverpool Atlantic Tower Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

We were on a Majestic coach trip and stayed at the Atlantic Tower Hotel for 4 nights. Quite modern, spotless bedroom - a little snug because of the enormous bed! Could have done with a chest of drawers, as there was only a little hanging area, so had to use the suitcase to keep none-hanging things in. Otherwise very nice with a modern en-suite. Very efficient lifts. Glorious views from the bedroom window as we were on the 8th floor right next to the Liver Building. Watched the ferry cross the Mersey and some nights there was a lovely sunset. Meals were limited in choice because it was a coach group, but something different every night and the staff were only too pleased to bring extra veg etc. A very pleasant stay.
I have just had my wedding reception at the Mercure and what an occasion it was. The build up to wedding went without a hitch dedicated wedding planning staff (Leanne and Zoe) were on hand to answer any questions and to put my new wife at ease during the stressful build up. My new wife stayed at the hotel the night before and was impressed by the standard of the rooms, she was allowed to stay in the bridal suite the night before for no extra cost, save moving rooms on her wedding day, which was a great touch. The wedding day itself was brilliant, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt like the most important people at the hotel. Every single member of staff greeted us with a smile and was very helpful and polite. The food was perfect, very tasty and exactly what we wanted, it was served promptly and staff were always around if any of our guests needed anything. The evening buffet went down a treat with the guests and was of a high quality, as soon as the plates were empty they were replenished by the staff. One of the best things about this hotel is the views from the restaurant and the VU bar, ideal for pictures and I look forward to seeing what photos our photographers could conjure up. All our guests commented on the ideal location of the hotel and were impressed by the stunning views of the the liver building. Come the end of the night, time for my guests to leave or for most to move to the residents bar, staff did not rush us and although it had been a long day were patient with everyone, even my drunk mother. All in all we had a fantastic day/night but I believe this was only possible due to the attentiveness shown by the staff. Leanne, Zoe and Kevin (toast master) are a real asset that the hotel and I urge anyone planning a wedding to give this hotel a serious thought. Thank you Mercure Liverpool on behalf of myself and my very happy wife.
I stayed here from Sat 13th May for 4 nights as part of a large group attending a Conference at the echo Arena. We were welcomed by the staff. My twin room was fine as a single guest, but would have been a bit cosy for 2. The view was good. I slept very well thanks to the comfy bed and I enjoyed the choice of breakfast food. All the staff were professional, friendly and helpful. I asked for the kettle to be changed due to a minor problem with the lead, and it was changed promptly. I had trouble with the key card, and had to call reception for assistance a couple of times. Staff changed my card and got me access to the room on both occasions promptly and with a nice attitude. Rated 4 as car parking facilities a bit awkward to find and spaces were a bit limited. I would be happy to stay there again though.
My husband and I had a room with a beautiful view of the Pier Head and the famous Liver Building which means that you have easy access to the Mersey Ferries. You can then visit Birkenhead where there is a good market or Wallasey where you can visit a submarine. Although the room was spacious the bathroom was extremely small. The restaurant was not the most salubrious and the tables were not the best. The tables were not always set correctly. This hotel needs a thorough update although staff were pleasant and helpful.
Near (easy walking!) to Pierhead, Albert docks, Liverpool 1 shopping and restaurant area, The Beatles museum and the Cavern, lots of nightclubs, restaurants and bars, and the hotel staff are brilliant. I can't give it full marks because the menu was very sparse on the day, as the main restaurant was closed to the public. Our bedroom was good, as was the lift access.
I hesitate to rate this average. We stayed at this hotel with a Trafalgar Tour group. I found this to be the smallest room of all the hotels we stayed at in Great Britain. Very hard to move with a double bed, two people and two bags. Rooms clean and functional. The big negative was the staff's ability to cater to our group for breakfast. The regular breakfast area did not seem taxed with customers and was open at 630. We were held until 7am and then ushered into a small room with huge tables for ten, with barely any space to move to the cramped buffet. The buffet breakfast was inadequate. It had no bread/toaster and only questionable scrambled eggs. No coffee tea was available until at least 20 minutes after seating. This is not acceptable and hopefully Trafalgar Tour has serious discussions with the management. We were very vociferous with our Tour Director that we were extremely upset.
I visited here with work in May. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and room ok. However, I found the hotel noisy and I didn't sleep well. You can hear the lift clunking and the walls aren't very thick - I could hear people closing cupboards and plugging in electrical equipment. There was a big gap under the door too, which meant light shone in over night. I requested a double bed, but got two single beds pushed together. The bathroom was small but not too bad. I was disappointed not to be able to use the outside bar on both nights I was there as it was closed for private functions. This is poor. The breakfast was good. I wouldn't rush back.
This was my first stay at this hotel (and only my second visit to Liverpool). I was impressed with it, the welcome in reception was very friendly and they gave me a drinks voucher for providing my contact details as I was staying there on a business trip. My room was on one of the upper floors, with nice views over the city, and some quirky décor behind the bed (see the photos). The room was spacious and well equipped. The breakfast was tasty and there was a good selection. The Vu Bar and Terrace offered lovely views over the Liver Building and River Mersey. The hotel is around 15-20 minutes walk from Lime Street station and minutes away from many of the popular sights. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and would gladly return.
Lovely restaurant and chef graham and waiter were very helpful in helping me with a gluten free option for dinner. But why are they not shown on the menu? My halloumi salad was delicious but I very nearly went out to eat because nothing was shown as gluten free. Thanks Graham and I'll be back at the end of this month simply for that view and to try out more from the menu!
Friendly and helpful staff, good buffet at breakfast. Room well appointed but airless. Decided not to use the restaurant as the menu options were limited and inflexible. Good alternative choices nearby.
