In Lisbon for work with a bit of RandR packed around it. The location of this hotel is superb. A 40 meter walk to the Marques de Pombal metro station(yellow and blue lines). Lots of nice restaurants nearby. A long walk (uphill) to Bairro Alto, but manageable. Gripes: It was incredibly hot outside (41C, or about 104F) and the air conditioning was not quite up to the task. 78 F or so in the room. Complaints went unaddressed. Since heat rises, perhaps higher floors are not a good choice. A very nice breakfast with eggs, meats, breads, pastries, cheeses, yogurt, though after five days, a little monotonous. For those of you like me who just have trouble waking up...it is served unusually late in the morning. Overall, I think a good value. I would stay here again.
City centre hotel modern, large rooms for Portugal, also tea and coffee making in the room. Good bed and linens I found air con very good, but I was always ask for extra key card so I can leave the air con ticking over. Breakfast good also expresso machine to use some hotel charge for expresso, not here. Coming back in October!
So many great things going for this hotel (location, bed, free breakfast buffet, soundproof windows), but the air conditioning is terrible. When we returned to our room after sightseeing the room was stifling. We asked the front desk to send someone up to check the thermostat during dinner. By midnight we were so unbearably hot and uncomfortable that we opened the window for some fresh air. With a little breeze we cooled off a tad, but the street noise of happy revelers didn't quiet until 2 am. When we finally fell asleep. We thought about checking out the next morn, but we decided to give it a go again. We left our 2nd key in the power slot and put the do not disturb sign on the door so housekeeping wouldn't turn the a/c off. It was still too hot the 2nd night, but at least we didn't have to open the window. If you have to stay here, bring your own portable fan!
I stayed a couple of nights for work recently and liked this hotel. Comfy bed, clean room and good location. Lots of pastries for breakfast. Very popular with older American tourists it seemed. Staff could be friendlier.
We loved this hotel. We took a Monograms tour of Barcelona, Madrid and Lisbon, and the Marques De Pombal was our Lisbon hotel. This is a 4-star hotel that actually deserves the high rating. What did we like about this hotel? * Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. * Our room, and the hotel in general, appeared to us to be understated elegance. *The configuration (square shape) of our room. * Our room had three chairs. * The free Wi-Fi worked well. * The shower was wonderful. * Soy milk was available on request. * The twin beds were excellent. What we did not like: * Tour groups were isolated in a small, noisy room for the breakfast buffet. Not a pleasant dining experience. * Unsafe to get into shower because bathtub is so high. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.
A great hotel!!!!!!! The room, breakfast and bar were outstanding. A very friendly staff. Only two blocks from hop on and off tour buses and close to downtown too. Lots of other places to eat close by and even a grocery store. Yes, we will recommend it
This hotel (4 star) is indeed good value for the money. Big clean room with high standard, very friendly staff and the restaurant at the hotel was like a high class restuarant and for beeing a hotel restaurant (they usually use to be more or less deserted) it was crowed, on this trip, the best food we had. A fantastic dinner including wine etc for the price of 70 euro. The hotel is located wall to wall to Praca de Marques de Pombal at avenida de libertad. Just follow this avenue in direction to the sea you will be in "Rossio" within 10 min. Rossio is the absolute center concerning dining, bars shopping etc. the most nicely place. The wi-fi atthe hotel was perfect, quick and no troubles at all
This is a well maintained and well acted on a broad tree lined avenue. Our room was well furnished and equipped. Breakfast buffet was fresh and varied. We did not eat here in the evenings as the 'offer' was not very attractive - but there were lots of alternatives near at hand.
I've stayed in this hotel for 4 nights this spring. hotel location is really great , on the main street. downtown and beautiful squares are in walking distance. very clean, bright rooms. staff was really helpful and friendly. worth to stay
This is a good, basic, modern hotel on the main avenue walking distance (or short cab) from many sights. Room was quite. The only reason the hotel does not rate higher is that the reception staff were not particularly helpful or friendly. But still a good choice. CAUTION: This and any other hotel within a half mile of the Pombal circle is subject to horrific city-sponsored "celebrations." A soccer fest blasted music until 2 AM. Check with any hotel in this area prior to booking.
