I had the good fortune of staying at this local chain hotel while on business. I found the staff, especially the general manager, Sra. Mara, extremely attentive to all my needs, business and personal. The hotel is in a wonderful location, within easy walking distrance of the coastline and restaurants in Miraflores. I highly recommend it for either business or pleasure.
Good, standard "meat and potatoes" place with a servicable restaurant. Nothing special really but within walking distance of the main tourist attractions of Miraflores. Quite a bit of ambient noise from the street and from other guests moving around in the early morning. Our booking was part of a tour so I can't comment on value for money. Probably best for one or two nights only.
Without doubt the reception staff at Hoteles San Agustin are the rudest and most obstructional I have ever dealt with. They think nothing of lying to customers. We stayed here as part of a package to the Amazon, which meant we needed to deal with the check-in staff twice, and so my comments are not directed to an individual but to the culture of the hotel. We requested a double bed. On the first stay we got to our room around midnight to find it was two singles. A phone call to reception was met with that is what we requested (wrong) and then when I insisted that we had not I was firstly told we could just use one bed and when I pointed out that was silly instructed to call back in 5 minutes. Given it had been a long day and we had an early start the next morning I simply gave up. Next time I asked the staff before accepting the key did the room have a double bed, and she assured me it did. Got to the room to find twin beds. Down to reception to be told there are no double beds available. I refused to believe this and stood my ground. Suddenly speaking English became an issue but by simply refusing to accept their lies I finally was allocated a double bed after about one hour. During this time I watched other customers attempt to deal with the reception staff who initially ignored them and only acknowledged their presence when the customer actively addressed them. None of this “can I help you” here. There were three staff there and all three treated customers with the same disdain. Some may think I am being picky but the point is I want what I had requested and paid for and I do not like being lied to. Others in the group had a similar experience with the hotel reception staff. The rooms themselves are dated (recall that I stayed in two and viewed another). The hotel has the audacity to charge 6 sols for water, elsewhere in Peru this was included with the room and the local supermarket sells this for 1.1 sol. Sound proofing is poor – we could clearly hear other guests leaving early in the morning. The mattress was very hard. Breakfast was a buffet and was OK. My advice is to avoid this hotel at all costs. If you must stay here be prepared to be treated like dirt, lied to and/or ignored. If something is not right be prepared for a long fight.
I have stayed here in the past and reluctantly stayed again as there was a good deal for the price. Last time I stayed it was loud due to construction in the hotel. The hotel is just Loud! The street traffic and then the groups of package tourists leaving at 6 or 7 am makes this place awful. Got about one hour of sleep. Do not stay here. Seriously!
We stayed here before and after our Amazon trip, 5 days in total. The rooms were clean and showers okay, some of the staff were very helpful but I had some very dubious dealings with firstly reception staff. We arrived 8am, very tired, no local currency and asked the reception staff for a small bottle of water, they charged us 5USD for a bottle which costs less than a 1USD equivalent in the nearby store we found out later. Secondly, we bought a bottle of wine at the local supermarket and asked the bar staff to open it for us, they asked for 10USD, the bottle cost less than that! We finally talked them down to 5USD but was still a ripoff. Last night in the hotel, early flight next morning and we find we are staying above the functions room with music and loud clapping and microphones until 12:30am. Repeated calls to staff about the noise, promising it would be finished soon, this went on for 3 hours!! Breakfast was included as we were staying here as part of gadventures tour, food very ordinary, same thing every day usually cold. Would never stay here again and would not recommend anyone else stay here either
I stayed here in a twin room. It was very spacious, beds were comfortable, and shower was great. It wouldn't have been my first choice (I prefer smaller quirkier hotels), but it was a great location to reach the water front and Miraflores Central Parc. The complimentary "welcome" pisco sour was a nice touch - and needed after the long flight!
Like many travelers to the Amazon, we stayed at the San Agustin before and after our Amazon adventure. We booked an extra day on each end of the trip in order to explore LIma. Bright lobby, comfortable bar area with a little outside seating. The front desk personnel are professional and, by and large, helpful. The buffet breakfast has an adequate selection of fruit, rolls, cheese, and hot dishes. On our first few evenings we had a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the roof of an event room. Our first night was fine, but the next, a Saturday, there was a noisy party going on that lasted well into the night. People were just having fun, we knew, but we weren't sleeping. That wasn't fun!! Ask about your room location. Our second stay, after our trip, we were on the 6th floor facing the street. Perfect! Although there was a bit of street noise, nothing was disrupting on another Saturday night. We would certainly stay at the hotel when back in Lima...in a room facing the street!
An excellent location with quick access to the waterfront, the shopping malls, food courts and local eating joints. Quick check-in, helpful staff, adequate rooms, clean sheets, clean bathrooms, free Wi-Fi and very spartan impression overall. The breakfast spread was very ordinary, repetitive, cold have been a lot better. They do have provision to keep your luggage if you happen to be going on a tour and intend to come back later.
I stayed here as part of a group tour to the Amazon. It's ok but definitely not 4 star. It's a lick of paint and a new restaurant away from that I think. One of our guys had booked a single room for health reasons but sorting out this relatively simple misunderstanding only heightened his anxiety. The showers were cold and the bar seemed half open all the time. It's difficult to relax when you're constantly looking to catch someone's eye. In the end I didn't use the restaurant as again I wasn't sure if it was even open such was the absence of staff. On the other side, the receptionists are lovely to me and the bell boy was also helpful. The location is ok too, there's plenty to see nearby and the seafood restaurant over the road does great ceviche. It's an ok place to stay, comfortable enough for one or two nights but any longer and I'd look elsewhere in Miraflores.
Hotel is nice. Most valuable in my opinion, is that is located in Miraflores neighborhood which is quite touristic and 'safe'. Good surroundings, bank offices and souvenirs. Good offer of restaurants as well. You may take a walk with confidence but always... a bit careful... :-)
