Mercure Lille Metropole

Very friendly and helpful reception staff (and loved the Christmas jumper theme!). Comfy beds and good shower. Nice continental breakfast. Ideally located opposite a tram stop - trams running every 10-20 mins and 15 mins to centre of Lille for 1.80 Euro per trip. WE drove to Lille and left the car at the hotel. Surprisingly quiet for sleeping considering the proximity to main roads. Would have liked two bedside tables and proper cups for the tea/coffee in the room - paper/plastic disposables goes right against the eco-credentials of Accor's claim of planting extra trees for not over laundering towels.

Northern suburb of Lille - not very accessible without a car. Chose it because I had rented a car to tour France and wanted the free parking. Found the hotel to be a business oriented hotel. Good WiFi and TV. Easy access to the autoroute. Central to WW1 sites near Lille.

Our 3rd visit puts this at the top of the list for convenience to the Euro Tunnel, it used to be Mercure Valeciennes but Lille is of far more interest these days and the the excellent Metropole is a delight to return to.The Privilege rooms are well serviced and have good facilities as well as being decent sized, like the hotel they are modern, airy and the beds are just heavenly (on a par with the Marriott Group). The staff here are some of the best in any Accor Hotel, this time Eric and Thierry helped make our stay more enjoyable. We hope to spend a few days at the end of November to enjoy the Christmas festivities at Lille and the comfort of the Metropole.

Here just one night but for 2 day business meeting. Hotel nicely designed, modern & welcoming. Coffee area great for breakouts. We also ate twice for lunch and evening dinner. Menu was the same for all 3 occasions, thought the dinner might have given some different options, albeit 1 special I spotted for day 2 lunch. But food good, wine good. Slept well too so comfortable bed.

A very clean, nice, hotel located conveniently on the rail transit line for easy access to the city centre. The rooms were spacious and with windows that opened for fresh air and a nice view of a green space/river/paths behind the hotel. The croissants in the morning were some of the best croissants I've ever had - and I'm picky!

I should start with praising their breakfast and the attentive service during the breakfast! It is a good spread and the attenders are really pleasant and quite alert to your needs. We did miss a hot veggie option (like baked beans or something) but they more than made it up with other yummy stuff and variety. (They do have hot sausages and scrambled eggs though - but I am vegan). Apart from that - the room was very comfortable - I especially loved the fresh and cosy bedding. Got the 3 of us (including our 1 year old baby) a really lovely sleep! Also the property's proximity to the tram stop (it is just opposite to the hotel gates) makes it absolutely ideal for those who are traveling by a car but do not want to snake their car into the city center's narrow roads and traffic. The tram takes you right into the city center - via both Lille Europe and Lille Gare Flanders - and so the connectivity to the TGV is also there. The property also boasts a lovely spacious parking adjacent to it - and guess what it is free :) :) So all in all - it was highly convenient, the staff extremely polite and helpful, bed was really soft, cosy and comfortable and breakfast incredibly filling. What more does a traveler really want?

I stopped at this hotel twice within ten days on the way to and returning from a holiday in Germany. the hotel has lots of secure parking places with security gates operating at night. The hotel is clean and modern and the staff were friendly. There is a tram stop just outside the hotel entrance which takes you in to lille centre (5 euro for a day ticket) the breakfast was varied and plentiful. On the return visit i booked a meal in the restaurant which was very nice and reasonably priced. Perfect hotel for a stop of on route to European destinations, nice and quiet and a good nights sleep, only 1hr 20min from Calais. Be careful with the online checkout system and check the bill before leaving.i had a slight problem with my bill from the restaurant the night before. The problem was rectified very quickly by the excellent duty manager.

...and a jump in quality, after staying at a couple of Novotels. On a Saturday night it seemed to be mostly empty. The hotel is located out of town, but has a large, free car park, and is only a few yards from a tram stop for the city centre (tickets from a rather confusing machine at the stop, where we weren't sure if we had bought the right ones for a return trip). Our Privilege room was excellent. Lots of space, even with the child bed out. An espresso machine, robes and slippers, lots of toiletries, and a selection of free soft drinks in the fridge. Everything in excellent condition, with a very smart and spacious bathroom. There was no noise from adjoining rooms, and we got an excellent night's sleep. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The common areas of the hotel were well presented. There is a sauna, which my wife used. Breakfast was good, with wide selection, but for the English taste rather lacking in hot, cooked items. Beware of motorway closures around Lille (possibly just at weekends). So many junctions closed that it is easy to get into a TomTom perpetual loop! We would definitely stay here again.

Despite checking in online, had to wait while receptionist dealt with a coach party, as for some reason he did not have my credit card details. The a/c in the room was noisy and inefficient. Nice to have a fridge in the room, good bar and breakfast was very good with big fresh croissants.

I stayed for 2 days in June 2017 and booked in the Privilege room. Although it is a bit outside Lille, actually location was very convenient, as it was just a stone throw away from the highway. It is also very quiet, and there is also free parking facility. What really impress me are the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. At the check-in they briefed me on the room, facilities, and everything else very clearly. In addition, they tried to help me with the air conditioning problem. Sadly, room itself is a bit standard and aging. Although Privilege room is a bit bigger and equipped with more amenities (minibar is free), I think it is a bit overpriced. Moreover, during my stay my air conditioning just broke down, and the temperature in the room was just too hot, especially in the summer month. Despite all of that, I think this is a very decent hotel and if the price is right, I may come back again.
