My friend and I stayed here by chance as we could find the hotel we were supposed be be staying at. I got a great deal on a twin room including breakfast , which was really good by French standards. The room itself was huge, it was clean with fresh clean bed linen. The staff were friendly especially Nicholas the food and beverage manager who was chatty and a good laugh. I would definitely go back there, although Lille city has changed over the past few years. It seems now they have built a new mall etc there it has encouraged a different type of tourist.....
Whilst the hotel and rooms are great, few of the staff members were very rude at times. Some of the staff were helpful who I should exclude however the others let them down. For a hotel of this standard I did not expect this kind of treatment. The location is perfect with the train station opposite and main centre not too far.
This hotel is opposite the Eurostar station in a not very inspiring area. However, it tries to look important, even though the external façade is off-putting. Our room was spacious, not recently dusted but no matter as I had asked after all for a quiet room and was put at the end of the corridor which is probably not often in use. But here's a strange situation. The light at the end of the corridor is not on automatically. We managed to find the door handle and, thinking that the light bulb had failed I contacted front desk. The response was that that light, at the end of the corridor, has to be switched on manually as you get outside your door. As we were not advised of this, and I have never had to do it in any other hotel worldwide, and would not have seen/located it easily anyway, this seems quixotic to say the least, and might be a health and safety issue. The air conditioning in the room worked satisfactorily, but as the room faced west (station side) it would be difficult for it to cope in the summer sun without the blind/curtain drawn all afternoon. People have different preferences with beds. I found this one too low and the mattress too soft. I wonder how often the mattress are changed (i.e. renewed). Pillows are small and narrow, but I always carry my own. Towels were thin, otherwise the bathroom is fine...just that if you only want a bath you have to twist your body in an awkward position round the screen to get near the taps. The kettle and stand had to be moved to the desk or floor for heating up. We used the desk on the first occasion. The kettle did not switch off automatically so we had boiling water everywhere...dangerous! Breakfast was adequate, but hardly 5 star. If you want fried eggs or omelettes you need to ask for them. They are not advertised. China is funky. There are no small side plates. We had dinner in the hotel for the first night as we were tired from travelling. Over the days we were there not many people ate dinner, and on one evening the restaurant was closed, and patrons pushed in to a corner in the bar. It might well be that because the restaurant is little used for dinner the menu is not very inspiring...a vicious circle. As we discovered, there are lots of eating places only 10 mins from the hotel. The problem is that Lille is short on upmarket hotels. There is no Hilton, Marriott, Radisson etc which raise the standard. This hotel is used by business people, whose booking is probably made for them. It is too easy, and you get that feeling the moment you walk up to reception. Smarter and more enthusiastic reception, upgrading house keeping and attention to small details would make a huge difference and lift the CP Lille to what we experience elsewhere in the world.
I come here a lot. I am a creature of habit and like to know where everything is so regularity has meant I have affection for this hotel. It is across the round to the Eurostar station so no hassle when you arrive. It’s a walk to the town. The rooms are great and the staff always friendly.
A very last minute arrangement due to what we though may be problems with Eurostar. Booked the night before at a very good rate. It met our needs perfectly being opposite Lille Europe station. That meant it was only a short walk to the centre of Lille as well for the many bars and restaurants. It perhaps is not up to the standard of other Crowne Plaza establishments but has reasonable sized rooms with everything you need - although a walk-in shower would be nice - but signs of mould around the bath if you want to be picky. Front desk staff very helpful, Breakfast was very good but the bar is a big let-down. If you need to be in this location though and can get a deal, its an excellent place to stay.
We stayed here for 2 nights and were pleased with the hotel and its location. Perfect if arriving from the UK by Eurostar as the hotel is opposite the station. We had an executive room on floor 10 and found it to be a perfect room with everything we needed. Good quality mattresses and decent sound proofing so we slept well. The room and bathroom were a little dark and the shower was not great and we did have to phone to understand how the shower worked!! We didn't use the restaurant as there is a good choice of restaurants 5 mins walk away in the Eurolille complex and better restaurants 10 mins walk away in Lille centre. We did go to the bar one evening but it wasn't very inviting so we went elsewhere. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The gym was basic but functional. A running map of the city with free fruit and water is available in reception which is a nice touch. However, I would stay at this hotel again if I ever visited a Lille.
The hotel is in very good location - opposite to the train station, 5 minutes walk to Euralille shopping mall including Carrefour, 10 minuets walk to city Centre. Room is ok. We stayed at Executive room. The carpet is very dirty with stains. When we walked in the lobby, there was no welcoming atmosphere. Staffs were nice and friendly.
We booked The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lille for 2 nights stay December 15 & 16th 2017 and we were not disappointed we walked literally across the Road from the Eurostar Entrance the service at the front desk was excellent our room was ready and we were a bit early and the room was excellent, the Breakfast was very good with both Hot & Cold choices getting a table was not a problem as people were coming and going frequently, Carline on the Reception Desk was very good and spoke good English as she was English but all of the staff were great and also spoke Anglais . The location of The Crowne Plaza Hotel was so good a 5 - 10 minute walk and you were either in the shopping Centre (Very modern and lots of choice especially a large Carrefour Supermarket) or in the lovely City Centre the Restaurant were good so a very good choice if you are travelling on the Eurostar and wish to visit Lille a great Team at a Great Hotel Crowne Plaza in Lille Barry Wilkinson Aldershot Hampshire
A lovely hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is literally opposite Eurostar and only 10 minutes walk from the town centre. The breakfasts were lovely with plenty of variety. I would recommend this hotel for a city break and we would definitely go back.
Good hotel. Excellent location to the train station when I traveled from Amsterdam to Lille. Clean. Close walk to the City Center. Convenient for various reasons. Would stay here again. Rental car center at train station makes I️t a great stop over place.
