When the hotel evacuation (fire) alarm system was activated by tobacco smoke in a guest’s room, we hurriedly fled and rushed to the lobby only to find the the alarm was being canceled. The hotel staff was obviously ill prepared (trained) and offered no explanation, apology or empathy for the gross inconvenience experienced. Upon checking out the following morning, the front desk staff on duty treated the incident as a normal occurrence while expressing no concern whatsoever. As the hotel is a member of a reliable international hotel chain, you’d expect more professionalism… the lack of training and pompous stance taken were a sad surprise.
