Nice , quite spacious room. The babybed for our child fitted and still we had enough space for ourselves. The window in the bathroom is an interesting detail. Separate toilet. Breakfast had a huge variety of options. Staff only speaking french and certainly not all also english. DUtch/Flemmish none. Staff at the brasserie in the evening not well trained. Tea served without teabag, the food we ordered took a long time and was not complete. Totel is situated very close to the city centre. Nice walk along the river.
We arrived too early but we were able to check in and proceed to our room. Very spacious room with separate toilet, which is very convenient. Plenty of storage for clothing. Very clean, superb bathroom with good quality toiletries. Nespresso coffee machine and free soft drinks in mini fridge (replenished daily). Very good quality bed linen and pillows. The only downside is that the cleaning staff occasionally forget to top up toilet paper and toiletries. Breakfast buffet with an enormous selection of morning food of superb presentation and quality. If one fancies a glass of bubbly for breakfast, it is there! For those who do not want to leave the hotel, there are 3 restaurants. We tried the Italian Corner and the Brasserie. The former is headed by an Italian chef (quite bubbly) who prepares everything from fresh (pasta and pizzas) and it is worth the wait. The staff at the Brasserie are very professional and courteous. This restaurant is very popular so it is advised to book a table. The food is superbly cooked and presented. Most weekends there is a themed evening in the "W" restaurant. There is a very convenient underground secure parking with direct lifts to the hotel. We stayed there for 4 night and had an thoroughly enjoyable experience. We will certainly be back.
Me and my boyfriend spent two days at Van Der Valk and we had good time there. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and very nice. I really enjoyed the steam bath, Jacuzzi and the swimming pool. The evening we went to the sky bar to take an aperirif and I really enjoyed my choice: Pornstar Martini! The cocktail was very well prepared...and we also enjoyed the atmosphere..design was Super! Later we had dinner at the italian restaurant inside the Hotel and we followed the suggestion of the italian chef: tagliolini ai frutti di mare! Later we had limoncello to conclude! We had great conversation with the chef and we felt like at home! After we returned to the sky back and we ordered the same cockatils: this time they were not as perfect as before. We remained a little dissatisfied!
Stayed for 1 night only, and I’m glad we didn’t stay longer. This place looks nice, but service is terrible. I used 2 tissues and found the box was empty. I used the WC and found only 1/2 a roll of paper and no extra roll. We also discovered that we had only 1 room key, which also worked the lights, so we had to get another so one of us could take the dog out without leaving the other person in the dark. My husband asked at reception for tissues and toilet paper when he got the 2nd key. A housekeeping rep came up, and we had to show her what was missing - it’s like they didn’t believe us and needed proof! (My husband speaks French, so there was definitely no misunderstanding). So then we had to wait for her to come back and deliver the items. We ordered room service because we wanted to stay in the room with our dog (he has dementia and experiences sundowning, so he’s no longer well-behaved at restaurants during dinner). We ordered pizzas and a demi bottle of their best wine. It arrived with no utensils, napkins, or wine glasses. But there were 2 pizza boxes - where, exactly would we put the leftovers? In the tiny mini bar? We had to send the staff member back to the kitchen twice because we didn’t see the missing utensils until he had gone back for the wine glasses. And he said he had to take the delivery cart back, so we had to leave the plates outside the door, which I hate to do but we had no choice - we can’t keep food sitting out in the open with a dog in the room, plus who wants to smell pizza all night? The pizzas were not great by the way, so we left quite a lot.
We stayed here on two separate nights to and from Austria. We could not fault this beautiful hotel on any level what so ever. The rooms were beautifully decorated to the highest standard and immaculately clean. Breakfast was epic, a buffet style with everything you could wish for....and more! All staff were very pleasant and professional Out of all the many hotels we've stayed in, this is the best.Top Notch!
We stayed here for one night, staff really friendly, hotel exceptionally clean. The rooms were also very quiet. Ideal location with a short walk to the main shopping area. Breakfast had a lovely selection to choose from and very good quality.
We stayed in the bridal suite. Very nice room with separate living room (and even a smalle kitchenette), a great round jacuzzi, separate rainshower, double washing basin and a great bed. Room is also very quiet and offers a wonderful sleep. Breakfast is very good, as usual at Van der Valk. Location is a bit out if the center. It takes a good 15' walk. Highly recommended for this price !
Stayed here for 2 nights in December and really nothing negative to say. Rooms were clean, staff courteous, food good, location close to train station, meetings room were bright and newly renovated. Overall a pleasant stay. Only hiccup I had was getting an iron and ironing board which does not seem to be a very standard request, but eventually they delivered it so ask early if you need it.
We stayed at the Van Der Valk hotel for one night only. Very pleasant hotel, our room was clean and nicely warm. The staff friendly and efficient. The bed was comfortable. Continental breakfast was adequate.
Brand new hotel. Good sized and comfortable rooms well equipped and tasteful. Good bathroom and large shower. Dinner was good quality from the bistro but not cheap at 20E for a burger. It was lovely. Location on riverside in centre of town - not in old town.
