Set on a hill just off the E25, this hotel is in a beautiful setting, which I am told, formerly housed a cloister. Easy to drive out of the city from here but also easy to walk to nearby attractions in Liege. Reception from the street is on the 7th floor with the bar, restaurant and terrace. Rooms are on the levels below with the spa, pool, and fitness on level 0. Access to the spa uses a separate elevator from level 4. This leads to a bit of confusion in navigating the hotel. Rooms are clean, comfortable beds. Both a tub and separate shower with large sink area makes for a nice bathroom. Parking is valet-only at €20/day. Breakfast and dinner are good but expensive - get a rate with breakfast included. This is the middle of Liege so restaurants and attractions are nearby. Staff can be very good, but are inconsistent (a sign of inattention by management). Of all the business hotels Ive be been at in Liege this is the most French in its emphasis and outlook. They do speak English (and Dutch, etc) here but it isn't always obvious. This could easily be a 5-star hotel but it simply misses the mark in the extra touches and excellence of service that a 5-star seems to provide effortlessly in every area. Even so, it is a very good hotel. Recommended if you find a good price.
Stayed in Suite 21 while in Liège on business. Found 4 dried up contact lens in different places on floor. Bed cover on bed sideways. Room service trays stayed outside room entire stay (3 days). Reception never answered phone when called for info. Business Center printer didn't work, had to send document to front desk for printout. Room service salad frisée drowned in vinaigrette dressing until salad leaves wilted, more like vinaigrette soup! Front desk did remove charge for entire meal, appreciated, thank you. At best this hotel is a 4-star with 3-star service. The decor has been very nicely done. The new ownership has work to do to bring Hotel up to a full 5-star standing, and I hope they do, as the potential is there. Good luck.
Ever since leaving the IHG (Crowne plaza). I can tell oversight is slipping Nothing against the front line employees. They try. Now. No internet at all. I can't even get a wifi signal. Was told due to full hotel. Nope. That doesn't reduce the reception. Only band width speed Not sure what other options are avail. Like I said. Good people working here just might be Different manager and lack of over sight
We travel to Liege yearly to take part in the LBL Ride and this year came back to Les Comtes De Mean. It's excellently located close to the main square and shops, lots of restaurants etc. It has parking (a real bonus in Liege) and the staff are super. The rooms are great and they are very accepting of us wanting our bikes in our rooms which was so helpful. All I would say is their breakfast does need a little work. They need a few more chefs working on food - or perhaps it was all the hungry cyclists who caught them off guard. The beds are SO comfy and I need to find out where their pillows come from! A great stay and we will be back - thank you!
The hotel is a five star hotel. Very nice and thoughtful staff. Great location with walking distance to the old city center. We travelled with a 3-monyh baby. The hotel is with good facilities to make it easy for us.
The Service is absolutely horrible and the staff extremely unprofessional. The room and the common areas, apart from the spa, were pretty ok but the lack of service made sure that this didn't stand out. If it would have been a 3 star hotel I would have understood the poor quality but not in a 5 star establishment.
This hotel is well-situated (both for arrival by car and exploring the city by foot) and luxurious but it could be better. The room is comfy and everything is there that you might need ... but the magnifying mirror in the bathroom was not functional and the skirt/trouser hangers did not close properly. The welcome was warm but the next sentence was to tell us that if we came again, then our dog would not be welcome (of course we had booked the room and paid the surcharge for a pet). The hotel has just changed hands, however, so perhaps these were just start-up difficulties: I hope so, as the people are very nice and the set-up splendid.
We had a group event here. Very nice location, building, service. In general all was great. Staff are friendly. Breakfast was really good. Especially the crepes in the steamer. Great selection of trappist beer selections at the lobby bar. Comfortable beds, big spacious rooms unlike rest of Europe. Self parking is a down the hill across the street. Pull up to the lobby and there is a map on the wall. Overall a superb stay. I can see why they left Crowne Plaza, as this is a little more upscale than a Crowne Plaza. Nice spa, but i didnt have a chance to visit.
As I made the reservation it said Crown Plaza. When I checked in the front description clerk name badge says crown plaza, the do no t disturb signs say crown plaza. When my IHG rewards number did not show up. I am told by front desk the this is now an independent hotel and no pints given False Branding and false advertising Highly disappointed.
We had a great time staying in this hotel. It has been snowing when we went there that on the way to the hotel it was slippery. There was a nice view from the top floor. The personnel are very friendly. They were all helpful. We liked the breakfast, it was a good one.
