Before booking I looked at the other reviews and thought people were overreacting but no. We picked the hotel because of the location and convenience to everything we wanted to see the following day. It is definitely not worth paying over $100 for. We chose to stay in the “Guest rooms on Cottage Hill” because of the privacy.....we get into our room and the toilet is broken, one of the beds didn’t have a bed skirt(made it look unkept), spots on the sheets and we had a ice bucket with the closest ice machine back at the main hotel down the big hill and across the main road. The breakfast buffet was very good and the employees were very nice. I think the hotel just needs a little extra TLC if they want their customers to come back.

Beautiful location. Very close to Natural Bridge, Caverns, etc.

Folks should know that when you stay in the annex, the rooms are very basic. Clean and comfortable but nothing fancy.

The Verenda rooms need updating. We did request another room and they accommodated pleasantly with same area but the room was much better. No frills in room, such as coffee makers, microwave, or refridgerator. Coffee is only available in lobby in the morning. The staff was great and helpful. We purchased cheep coffee maker for our trip. The area is beautiful and the Natural BridgePark across fromhotel. Had a wonderful time. The needmore rocking chairs due to only a few out at the doors and if there are a group staying they use them all (only 6 chairsfor whole floor.

the Hotel was keep up nice. Food was good although a little pricey. We were there for two nights and they did not clean our room or resupply the room. we were also locked out of our room after a long day.

Unique older hotel in great shape right across from Natural Bridge State Park. They even have an underground walkway to get you to the park safely.

Rooms were newly "freshened" (not really renovated). It was nicer except for the fact that they took the electrical outlet out of the bathrooms. There are just a few simple things that would make a stay there a little better - a chair , an electrical outlet in the bathroom, a small table (or chair) by the dressing mirror. And I don't mind reusing towels, but please don't take them and not leave any. We discovered this at almost midnight - no towels - when stepping out of the shower. Called the front desk but there was no one to but the desk clerk and she couldn't leave so we dried off with the two hand towels that were left.

It was great. Friendly staff, comfortable room, lovely setting.

Love the history, great visit, restaurant food was ok

It was awesome. The people were friendly and the place was clean and nice.

Excellent dining staff. Jessie was great. Saturday night meal was wonderful

Breakfast buffet was a little pricey for the quality of most of the choices...there was, however an omelet station which was a nice touch. Having said that, it was about the same price as "off the menu" breakfast and it was all you can eat, so it was still a decent deal. Also it was nice to have a leisurely breakfast. I enjoyed our stay very much and would stay again; and would probably order the breakfast buffet again as well.

It's a hotel for a state park with reasonable rates. Please keep that in mind. The rooms were nice and clean with updated fixtures, however, with the hotel being fully booked the Wi-Fi was pretty overwhelmed. The room did not have a refrigerator. We had two adjoining rooms for the four of us since the beds were kind of small. On the plus side, the staff was extremely friendly and the proximity to Natural Bridge State Park was a definite advantage. If you go then you should definitely eat at the Pink Cadillac Diner which is just up the road on the other side of 81. We ate breakfast there two mornings in a row, The food was great and a great value.

A hotel with history, clean, comfortable, very delicious food in the colonial dining. close to highway and several attractions.

Very disappointing. Hotel needs remodel. Staff were untrained. Could not leave air conditioning on in room. It was too loud. Would not go back.

Old hotel. Needs updates desperately. Tiny beds. Loud a/c, could not leave it on at night too loud to sleep. Had to ask for hangars for closet and got miss match of people's leave behinds. Hotel desk staff told us twice the lights show was at 6:30. We waited and waited but it was at 7:30 and was a hotel event so they should have known. Would not go back.

We stayed the night using Orbitz bucks and only paid $75. It was $75 too much. It's unbelievable to think they charge a $150 for these rooms. This place is in need of an immediate and major remodel. Although the lobby is nice the rooms are awful. Upon entering the room we noticed the beds have no headboard, just mattresses and box springs on rails. The furniture is peeling, the walls haven't been cleaned in along time, the phone had no face plates just guts and didn't work, the tv remote didn't work, the carpet was peeling, etc etc. I went to the front desk to see if I could get a different remote and asked if all the rooms were the same or if we could switch to a room in better shape. I was shocked to hear we were given one of the "better rooms" with an upgraded balcony. There's not much you can do about a hotel getting older BUT you can upgrade furniture and keep it clean. A coat of paint and upgrades are needed asap. I was glad to hear there is a plan to refurbish the hotel because it is historic and has potential. Until then stay away. I'm so bummed I spent money here.
