AC Hotel León San Antonio by Marriott

4.0 out of 5.0

From the exterior and its glitzy photos, The AC Hotel Leon San Antonio appears worthy of its 4 Star rating and epitomises to old saying about first appearances being deceiving. We stayed 2 nights (with another couple) at the beginning of September and am aghast that they adorn a 4 star rating! The small lobby area has a reception and a small area where you can have a coffee or a drink. The only thing is you need to make the coffee yourself or serve yourself from an array of miniature bottles. No staff anywhere …. (But all paid for at reception) How exactly is this four star. The room was ok but the bed tiny (Smallest bed available legally called a ‘Double’) Foam pillow and Duvet no bath (only a shower) and the most pathetic excuse of a mini bar I have ever come across. It really would be better to not have one at all. No spirits at all (I imagine you have to go to the reception area to collect those.) The mini bar had 1 chocolate bar a bag of nuts a Sam Miguel and a none alcohol one. 2 or 3 soft drinks and water. despite the room being for 2 people. The hotel has about 7 /8 floors but only has 2 tiny lifts. At most 4 people, but in reality, it’s for 2 people and their bags. Many frustrated guest trying to get themselves and their luggage down. each time the lift did actually stop the doors would open to a full lift (2 people and their bags!) This hotel falls well short of 4 stars and not only would I not return there but I will probably avoid the AC Hotel group, if this is indicative of their quality of service.

Nice generic hotel, lovely clean rooms, functional and business orientated. Pleasant staff and good customer service. Teh hotel accommodated hen and stag parties at the weekend. Secure parking for the motor bikes. We did not eat here.

Conveniently located to the old part of Leon, the Hotel was pretty perfect for our stay. Reception, under alot of pressure during the busy month of August went out of their way to help. The room was contemporary in its design, and the beds comfortable with duvets instead of traditional bedding. Bathroom refreshingly stylish and just added the final touches to a great stay. The Location of the hotel couldn't have been better, within 10 minutes walk to the old city which allowed us plenty of time to go and investigate. Definitely, recommend to travellers.

The Food, Staff, and Grounds were so wonderful! I would highly recommend this to anyone. I am even making plans to go back. We stayed here on business and had some difficulty with the internet but probably would not have had an issue with it if it were for vacation. Beautiful grounds, Fantastic Food, Great Spa.

We liked this modern hotel, just 10 minutes flat walk from the old town - the staff were friendly, helpful and professional - we were upgraded to a suite which was superb - very clean and comfortable - the shopping precinct opposite the hotel which is vast is well worth a visit - would I go back to this hotel - Yes, absolutely !

the hotel was OK. I was just one night on a tour. Breakfast was good and we eat in the hotel restaurant rather than going out into Leon city. Most restaurants do not open till 8 pm and some later. Leon city is not as nice as the other cities we visited. my wife's feet were hurting so she did not want to walk into the centre for a meal. The meal in the restaurant was good. Could not find restaurants close by that opened early or of high quality. It was possible to walk into the centre but the city is not as clean as the others we visited. The city is 830 metres above sea level and in the morning is very cold but warms up during the day to mid 20 degree C.

We stayed one night as part of a tour and were glad it wasn't longer. We were allocated room 102 on the first floor but it was very dark and furthermore it was a corner room and so had a large chunk of the room missing diagonally. It was more a single room than a double. The air conditioning didn't work - only warm air which in mid May is a bit useless. The bed was comfortable and there were sufficient towels. Yet another glass bathroom door. WHY OH WHY has this horrible trend started? I think I am going to enquire before booking any hotel if they have glass bathroom doors and if so I will decline to book - maybe they will get the message ? Someone else in our group went to visit someone in their room and had to avert their eyes when walking past the bathroom as his wife was in there. With a light on it is clearly visible. Horrible. Stop it now please. The lifts were very small (two of them) and the breakfast was fairly good. It was a LONG walk to the Cathedral from this hotel and despite being opposite a massive department store that isn't what we came to see in Leon. Would I stay in this hotel again if in Leon ? No. Too dark, no indoor pool, small lifts and too far out.

Without having a sat-nav in the car, for some reason we had a very difficult time finding the AC Hotel, but then again, León can be difficult to navigate for a first-timer. Our room was very attractive and clean. The bedding was very comfortable. It was a real treat having a spacious room after having been in a succession of very cramped pensións and old hotels. The hotel offers very convenient underground parking for a fee. Our bathroom was sleek and modern-looking, but had a couple significant issues. The water temperature in the shower was wildly erratic, either freezing or scalding. Also, the shower pan is extremely slick and you must be very careful not to slip and fall. We were there in the month of April and the air conditioning was not turned on, even though it was unseasonably warm outside. Opening the window, unfortunately, we were subjected to some street noise, and encountered an unusual issue. To open the window (which swings inward) you must leave the curtain open. An enormous Corte Inglés department store is directly across the very narrow street from front-facing rooms. The elevator banks on each of the store's floors are clearly visible through the store's plate glass windows. The store is open after dark, meaning that when hotel windows (and curtains) are open, hotel interiors (and occupants) are clearly visible to shoppers using the elevators. This is truly an unusual problem which we mollified by keeping the lights off until the store was closed for the night. Again, this phenomena will only occur when a window must be left open. With operating air conditioning, the curtain can simply be closed. Apart from this, our stay at the AC Hotel was good and the young lady at the reception desk was pleasant and helpful.

We celebrated a bachelor party in this city and we stay at this hotel. In front of shopping center. The location is good is around 5 min walking to Humedo or Romantic area. Great attention to customer

We are traveling in Spain and France and started by staying in 3 AC Hotels across northern Spain. Each AC was a little more expensive and offered less amenities. All AC Hotels are not the same. That being said, this hotel was a good value. It had clean modern rooms with modern bathrooms. We liked the location. It was a 15 minute stroll to the old town. There were several cafes in the area for breakfast so we opted to go local. This hotel had a great Nespresso coffee maker in the room and a good WiFi connection. Our only complaint is that it did not have a safe. 2 of our 3 AC Hotels didn't have safes. If this matters to you, ask. This hotel was a great value, well kept and had a helpful staff. I would definitely choose it again.
