2 minutes walk from the Station Car Park, clean ans comfortable. Rooms are small but not cramped, great place to stay if you are in Leicester for a couple of days. Slightly quirky check in, not recognisable front desk, reception is a table near the bar . Staff friendly and polite. Really nice Bar area, not busy mid week so a nice place to chill and chat.
I have stopped here several times ...and it has been good ... but ... this time ... the hot water stopped. To be fair to the management they had somebody working on it all night ... but ... it was therefore a very noisy night ! All in all not the best stay but ... I hope its a one-off.
I think I last stayed here about 5 years ago. Since then it has definitely been smartened up and the decor in the bedrooms etc improved. Also the breakfast/bar/lounge area is a lot more modern and welcoming. It's a fairly standard more budget hotel though the bed is pretty comfortable and the shower quite spacious. Usually the Premier Inn nearby is cheaper if you can book plenty in advance, but if you can't and the Premier Inn has increased in price, this could be a good cheaper option.
Chosen for convenient location - for train travellers with tickets for the Curve theatre, the Ibis proved to fit the bill well (although the bill mid-week was higher than expected for a ‘budget’ hotel. We were grateful to be able to book in early and the room was clean and the bed comfortable. The curved bathroom module was very clean with an effective shower; the extractor fan was quiet; my wife was pleased to have well lit mirrors with a convenient socket for hairdryer. Wi-fi worked too! Built so close to the ring road, there was some traffic noise but not excessively so with window closed. Location does mean waiting for a succession of green men between city centre and hotel! There was ample choice at breakfast and the selection of hot food was actually hot. As with most buffet breakfast experiences, the toaster was not perfect. Overall, a good choice.
Visited Leicester on Business in September and booked this hotel with Breakfast. Grumpy staff on arrival who looked like can’t be bothered and no smile existed. Got in the room and just looked old shabby but bed was comfy. The coffee tray had no sugar, TV remote had no batteries in them and the Tv didn’t even work!! The breakfast was really bad with only a few items on it and the fruits looked as if they been there for a week !! There was a tv hanging on top of the breakfast table which was full of dust and probably not been dusted for months. 2 stars ... 1 for the bed and 1 for the shower. Won’t return unfortunately
Great location (besides the sounds of the traffic) and room was an adequate size and fairly clean. However, the bathroom was disgusting- there were hairs and removable stains in both the sink and the shower. Moreover, it was the worst nights’ sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. The beds and pillows were as hard as concrete and the room was too hot to sleep with the window closed, but all the traffic from the main road and train station right outside made it impossible to keep open at any point. The air con was completely ineffective. Luckily I only had to stay one night or I would definitely have checked out early and had to find somewhere else to stay. The only redeeming qualities were the personalities of the staff members we met who were undoubtedly trying their hardest. This is the first and last time I will stay at an Ibis as I can’t believe the difference in quality compared to Travelodge or Premier Inn despite charging the same.
We stayed on the 6th sept 2019. We checked in at 6pm to return at 11pm where we discoved our backpacks had been searched through and the contents spilled onto the floor while we were gone. We were sure of this as we position the bags a certain way at every hotel we go to in order to ensure our belongings are left as they were. No valuables were taken although there were only clothes in the backpacks. We notified the staff of the problem straight away only for our problem to be dismissed. We were told our keycard would have been deactivated if any cleaning staff were to enter our room. Honestly, I think this was made up. We left the room with a 'do not make up room' sign - obviously ignored by staff like in other reviews. Room was fine. I wouldn't recommend as staff cannot be trusted with room service or to deal with customer complaints. Summary: do not visit unless you want your belongings to be searched through in your absence 😑
I have visited the Ibis at Leicester before and to be honest it doesn't get any better. Even though the lady checking you in is quite helpful it isn't a great experience. It always seems very impersonal and not welcoming. I was directed straight to my room, which again was clean and functional. I decided to go and eat in the hotel, which perhaps was a mistake. First of all the temperature was akin to sitting in a greenhouse, with no air conditioning or fans. Secondly there was no dinner menu and only a snack menu. Therefore my company food allowance was somewhat wasted. I would stay here for the location but that is it!
My husband and I booked this hotel as we like the chain. It was extremely clean and staff were so helpful. I had seen on here there was limited parking but we arrived early and thus was fine, even able to check in too. It us so close to everything, you can park and just relax. The breakfast was part of the deal we had and it was amazing. Hot and cold so much choice a brilliant start to the day. Our room was spacious and extremely clean, the only thing we noticed was it was a little noisy as its on the Ring Road round Leicester but we do live in the countryside so we would notice it!! I would recommend this hotel, arrive early to get free parking and settle in for a relaxing stay in such a wonderful city. Shops, excellent bars and restaurants can thoroughly recommend Herbe Kerela restaurant not far from the hotel and across the road from Wetherspoons. Leicester has it all arts, culture and leisure will be back soon.
The room was very basic and reasonably clean. The bathroom very compact. Single beds tiny for adults (normal length but somehow smaller width). The breakfast was hugely overpriced and the corridors (assuming due the cleaning product used) smelt horrendous. To be noted however, the staff is exceptionnally lovely.
