We felt the need for a spot of winter sunshine and booked a flight and then a hotel. We spent a week at the Palm Beach, arriving in the dark but able to see immediately that the hotel was situated right on the beach and set back from the road. We had requested a bungalow but we were told that the bungalows were being refurbished and we had been upgraded to a room with a view at the back of the hotel with a balcony overlooking the sea. The room was pleasant and clean and had a large bathroom. We did indeed have a room with a view and a balcony but we couldn't see much as it was dark. It was late and we ate in the hotel - the food was a buffet and was varied and tasty. The next morning we took in the view of blue sea and blue skies. We were there to rest and spent most of our days sitting by the pool reading. We went into Larnaca by bus a few times - the bus stop was just outside the hotel. Larnaca was nothing special in our view and we mostly ate in the restaurants around the hotel. It was, by now, the end of the season, and many of these restaurants were closed or about to close. There was a decent Indian restaurant nearby. Breakfasts were good in the hotel but it would have been nice to see a smile on the faces of the waiting staff, they all looked rather miserable. The bar staff and the various managers were professional and friendly but the staff on reception were distinctly unhelpful and unfriendly on occasions. All in all, we found the hotel to be clean and a pleasant place to stay. We left on the Sunday evening to catch a flight home. Following an hour's delay, we boarded the plane but soon realised it wasn't going anywhere. There was a technical fault and after another couple of hours we disembarked, got on coaches with the plane load of people and realised that we were going back to the Palm Beach to stay another night. When we arrived, the managers and several other staff were manning reception and issuing keys. It was a smooth process and we can't fault the organisation in the hotel welcoming a couple of hundred people at short notice. We came to the conclusion that the Palm Beach was probably the best hotel in the area.
Hotel clean and welcoming, rooms were a bit tired looking probably as they are closing for refurbishment. One draw back was you never new what time rooms would be cleaned, it varied from 0845 to 1530 and all times in between.
Haven't stayed here for many years but glad to see they have spent some money on it. Comfortable bed, nice overhead shower. Just what was needed. Food ok at breakfast and lunch. Arrived late but bar was reopened for us to have a drink.
I have been going to this hotel for many years and even had my wedding reception held there 10+ years ago. The hotel is family owned and many of the employees have been at the hotel for many years and are very friendly. The hotel is built parallel to the sea and has direct access to the sea. The rooms are either with sea view or mountain view. The bungalows are set a little further behind among gardens which include palm trees (hence the name of the hotel). The rooms are of a good standard for a 4 star hotel but there are rooms which have been refurbished with more modern bathrooms and rooms that have not. Worth paying the extra for the refurbished rooms if/when available. The hotel breakfast is very good and the food on offer is quite authentic with the dairy products (halloumi and anari) being better than supermarket quality. Lunches and dinners at the hotel are equally good value and authentic where Cypriot cuisine is concerned. In the summer they have buffet nights which include light entertainment (singers or folk dancers). The main swimming pool is clean and good size but closes a little early in the summer months. There is also a smaller, indoor, heated swimming pool. The sea in front of the hotel is generally calm in the mornings but as is common in all of Larnaca's beaches, there is more wind and waves from around midday till around 5-6 pm. There are wave breakers relatively close to the beach line and so the waters are relatively shallow before these and quite a lot deeper after them. For those interested in promenades and walking, there is a lengthy pedestrian promenade between the hotel grounds and the water which extends for a couple of miles on either side of the hotel.
Flight was cancelled so we stayed here for 24 hrs. Room was great and clean with toiletries and towels. Bar was open late and reasonable in price. Outside pool area was clean Breakfast and lunch was excellent.
Nice Food and Clean Hotel and lovely spa and pools as well as Sea to swim as right on the sea front. Staff very helpful. Few cats around the hotel grounds that look well looked after. Walkway at back of hotel leads to the sea and a walkway along the coast for a nice walk
This hotel is just wonderful. It is located right on the beach and has been beautifully renovated to a high standard. Our room was very comfortable and very clean. We had a lovely view of the gardens which were very well kept. The breakfast was excellent, fresh and plentiful with every taste catered for. We would definitely return.
Beautifully renovated hotel located a bit out of the city. My room was very nice and I had a great overnight stay! Located right on the beach and there are plenty of dining options in the hotel as well.
The hotel and staff are generally speaking first class, but I feel I must warn others about what could be a Mini Bar scam by a member of the Hotel staff. During the week we were there, we never used the minibar, in fact it was locked when we first arrived and told the Man who came to check that we would not use it. At the end of our stay he appeared in the morning we were packing to leave, and said the Minibar had to be checked, and we told him the same as before, that it was locked and we don't use the Minibar, and it was locked. He insisted that it was open and he had to check it. that morning we found it to be open ad he said there were Soda cans missing. My wife explained to him that we had not used it and thought that this was not correct as we had used our own drinks or bought them at the Hotel bar. He stated again that there were drinks missing, and this time my wife told him that we would be making a complait. When he heard this he said there was no need to pay and he was making it as OK on his checklist. My wife told him that she felt that we were being accused of stealing and still wanted to complain officially. He kept say he had corrected the sheet, but we felt there was something suspicious about it, possibly even a scam and the Hotel should check. one week later a friend of our's also left the Hotel and said that this had also happened to hime and he wrote a report about it. I think Palm Beach hotel has excellent staff, but this one individual was not up to the same standard as the rest, and we felt he was untrustworthy, or at the very least accusative, and had attitude problems. We hope that the Hotel will take an action to ensure that this does not happen again and a group of 10 to 12 of us come here every year and this as far as I know is the first time this has happened.
We stayed in the bungalows to start with but were moved to the hotel due to the season coming to an end & closure of the bungalows. The hotel had stunning views of the sea. All staff were very friendly & attentive. Lovely food. Would love to visit during high season as some areas were closed down. My daughter loved all the cats & kittens.
