I wish that there was another option between ‘average’ and ‘very good’! We only spent one night in the hotel, but I was kind of glad that it was only one night. It looks to be the best on that particular stretch, and I think it would be a great place for a young family to have a fun beach holiday. However, it really wasn’t that great for us! The ac in the room was blowing hot air, but it wasn’t such a warm night, so we slept with the window onto the balcony open! The bed was a bit hard, as were the pillows.... The restaurant food was ‘ok’ both for dinner and breakfast, but no better than ok. Although the shower was good, the hairdryer provided has no place in any decent hotel in the 21st century! The handle became very hot, and it really was hopeless for drying my hair!! So all in all, it was an ok stay. But just ok.
I spent 4 nights in the hotel during my business trip in Cyprus and I am impressed. Location: 15 min from Larnaca International Airport, and 30-40 min from Nicosia (by taxi). The hotel is outside the city in a quite place, there are numerous shops, tavernas, even a small supermarket. There a 2 bus stops. Both 424 and 425 lines are going to the city centre. The 425 is going to the Airport and Larnaca Central Bus Station. The time from the hotel till the city centre is 20 min. View: Excellent. It was a pleasure to watch the sunrise.... Food: Excellent. Different menu every day the staff in the restaurant is very kind and looks after the guests. Suits: Wide range of suits. Clean and comfortable. Special thanks to Mr. Anthos Asmenis, Food & Beverage Manager , who showed us the hotel and conference rooms for our next business trip. Nikhos, Assistant Manager, Petya and Todora for the attention. Definitely I am considering to spend my summer vacations with my family in Golden Bay Beach Hotel.
i would like to recommend the hotel- especially for families. we surprised our mom for her birthday and received an excellent service even before we got there. we contacted the hotel in order to see if we can have the room decorated for her and received the most wonderful service. we spoke to Christiana which was an absolute delight. she arranged my mom a cake, champagne and even decorated with ballons- all complimentary from the Hotel. the hotel was clean and the employees were super nice and helpful even in low season. breakfast was very rich and tasty. the beach was clean and arranged nicely- there is even a small pool for children and a slide. we will defiantly come back with our kids next time.
We have been on the road for 5 weeks in India, the Middle East and Cyprus. We have booked top-end hotels everywhere we went but Golden Bay turned out to be, by far, the biggest disappointment in our hotel list. Here is why: a. Major renovation required. The hotel is growing old and is not well maintained. Rooms would require new furniture, fresh paint, new floor coverings. See pictures provided on stained floors, dirty bedspread, stained head board, broken baseboard, misaligned toilet seat, damaged sliding door base, loose wall lamp cover, botched tile work & damaged door frame and tilted floor lamp… all taken in one room. Taken separately, we could have lived with most of these shortfalls but when you find them all in your room in the first 30 minutes, it is a different story. Rooms are barely up to 3-star standard. b. Cleanliness. Common areas, such as the Yatch Club, are in serious need of a major clean-up. Windows in the Yatch Club are dirty all around the room. Fingerprints and handprints appear in every window and rarely seem to be removed from one day to the other. Not very enjoyable in a dinner room. The same could be said about the elevators. We even saw the pool attendant wash dirty areas of the pool sides by repeatedly dipping his broom directly in the pool water. We just could not believe it. c. Service. On 2 consecutive days, we stopped at reception to have maintenance repair a very loose (and uncomfortable) toilet seat. It was never done in the 4-day period we were there and we were not informed of any intention to do so. Reception politely listened to our request but never really took charge or followed up on the issue. We did not feel as guests in this hotel but rather as ghosts. Guests walking in or out of the hotel in front of reception should be greeted with some form of polite salutation and never be ignored as was our experience. In general, the service culture at this hotel needs to be seriously strengthened, beginning with staff putting on nice a smile in front of customers. d. Food. Globally the food at Yatch Club is very dull. There is a good variety of food but for some reason, the food is never very tasty. After a few meals, we decided to cross the street and enjoy dinner at local restaurants (Daniel restaurant is a good choice) where the food was substantially more interesting and a lot less costly. On the positive side, I would point to the very nice pool and beach area, the large parking space and the high-quality mattress in the rooms. These are definite pluses. However, I would not recommend this hotel unless you are willing to seriously compromise on room and infrastructure quality, service and cleanliness while still spending a lot of money. Management needs to take a serious look at its service offer because they are riding on a wave that will undoubtedly crash… soon. Experienced travelers know better.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel last weekend. Close to Larnaca, easy reachable by both public bus and taxi, with a great view of the sea. Pools and palm garden very nice. Restaurant terrace with great view, a real pleasure to start your day in the morning. Nice and clean room, very good and diversified food, very kind personnel. Mrs Svetlana from the reception and her manager managed to bring more light to our holiday by helping us on a sensitive matter with our son. Very nice facilities for families. We enjoyed every minute of our 3-days stay. We will definitely return to this nice hotel. Thank you again.
Spent the second week of October here on a bed and breakfast basis. Hotel provided a taxi to pick us up at the airport for 25 euros, driver was waiting for us in the arrival hall, ten minute journey to the hotel. Our room was ready on arrival, we had a side sea view so from the balcony the sea was to the left and a view of the road to the right. Nice room, king size bed, comfy mattress and a pillow menu so you can change the pillows to suit your tastes. Air con was fine and the room was very quiet, no noise from the other guests. Beautiful pool area that leads on to the beach. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice from fruit and cereal to a full English, even proper back bacon instead of that streaky nonsense you normally get. Couldn't fault any of the staff, all polite, smiling and helpful. Special thanks to our cleaner (came every day, fresh towels every day, bed sheets changed half way through our stay) Marie Fe on the fourth floor, very nice lady. We couldn't keep our room as the hotel was fully booked (check out at twelve, 40 euros to keep it until 4pm, 60 euros to keep it to 6pm) but you can shower and change in the spa so it didn't really matter. There are a couple of bars outside the hotel and around eight restaurants, if you turn left out of the hotel and walk for about ten minutes there are more bars and eating venues. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel and the hotel has its own taxi service, Larnaca is 12 euros and a ten minute taxi ride. Reading through the negative comments about this hotel I wonder if people haven't had a good holiday unless they find something to complain about! I honestly can't think of anything negative about the hotel and will be booking again for next October.
Just back from a fantastic 4 night stay at the Golden Bay Beach Hotel. We loved the food, quality and range of drinks and the service from everyone. It was pretty quiet as late in the season - so there wasn't much in the way of entertainment - but we made our own fun and some of the singers were lovely. We upgraded to one of the suites with jacuzzi and they are worth every penny! The hotel even conspired with my boyfriend to keep it a surprise for me :) And arranged complimentary champagne for us and made it all feel very special. We hadn't booked an all-inclusive package but decided to upgrade once we saw the quality of the food and drinks and at €48 each per day this was fantastic value and definitely worth if it you like a drink! I was very pleasantly surprised to see brands such as Perrier, San Pelegrino, Dissorano and drinks like Aperol Spritz included, made properly and with the proper premium / imported spirits. It goes a long way and we wouldn't hesitate to return again!
thank you for all, we did muchly appreciate! Partuculary the kindness, gentleness of all friendly staff was well appreciated! rooms are very clean, and we got all we needed! We did feel also, all guests were allways satisfied, and the comments under guests were particulary good about this hotel! but once again, the smiling and friendly attitude of all staff did imprest us! so then you may allway's book this hotel, you will be in good hands ! thanks, Jack and Cathy
I recommend the use of the spa facilities, and in particular to book a massage. It is done in a very professional manner by experienced staff where you feel completely relaxed during the treatment and in particular afterwards.
Not been abroad with my hubby for 16 years. This hotel is wonderful. The lobby is spotless, our room is a middle suite facing the sea. Stunning. Clean. The pool area is beautifully kept. Food is great. Good fresh choice. It's an old hotel so don't expect hi-tech- it's not that look. Just simple, clean and jolly. Lovely smiley people work here. We were greeted late last night by a gorgeous man at the desk and today staff was also very helpful there.
