We booked into the Hotel for a girls night out in Portlaoise. The lobby area of the hotel is warm, bright and welcoming. However it did lack a nice bar area as it felt more like a restaurant. The bar staff could have been a bit more attentive but the fantastic breakfast spread compensated for that! The rooms were lovely and suited us perfectly! All in all a lovely hotel just be aware NO late drinks to be had with a zero tolerance night porter!!!! if in the area again we would stay there!
The food is of good quality, if a little expensive. All staff that we encountered were friendly and professional. This was my third time staying at the hotel & I will definitely be back. Good value stay overall.
We got caught in a blizzard on our way back home and had no option but to stop and try to find lodging at the nearest town which happened to be Portlaoise. We were immensely relieve to find rooms at the Killeshin and reasonably priced ones at that! The rooms were spacious, modern and warm. We had a bite to eat in the pub ( the Cedar rooms) with a glass of wine and though we were ready for the usually pub grub the food was surprisingly good, I understood the chef was French and all I can say is - hang on to him! The service was lovely both in the pub and at reception. Overall a very pleasant forced stop!
It was my Dad's 90th birthday on Dec. 17th and I needed a venue for what I initially thought were 80 people. I also wanted some music. I booked a room from 5pm to 9pm. I ordered finger food, tea and sandwiches. There were four different offerings I chose (sandwiches, sausages, chicken goujons and mini-quiche). The food was served at 6 and it was hot a fresh and plentiful. Indeed an extra 15 people or so arrived and they were able to be accommodated with extra tables and food. The room is spectacular -bright cheery and beautifully decorated (see pictures -taken with no flash) and would be an ideal venue for a wedding or any party of size 50-120 people. we had a dedicated bar and the staff were very efficient and friendly. There were private bathroom facilities (including accessible bathroom). the musicians were accommodated with what they needed to perform We also had eight rooms booked for overnight guests and their experience was just as good. Top marks to the Killeshin for proving us wit a very memorable occasion in a beautiful and ideal setting. Much thanks!
Have been to the Killeshin a number of times as a local business in Portlaoise hold many roadshows here. The hotel is clean and tidy and always busy. The food is always of good quality regardless of the number of events in the hotel. This is a good sign of a well run hotel that you food quality does not drop as the capacity increases. On the particular day we were here there were at least 6 other events of similar size on. The only observation I had was that the PA system in the room that we were in was very poor and at times the presenter was drowned out by the noise in lobby of the staff cleaning away the plates and laying it out.
went to this hotel for a meeting it was my first time in this hotel and i was surprised the hotel and the staff wear great the staff couldn't do enough for me and the food was great i will be back to stay in this wonderful hotel in the new year
Following a family bereavement we had to totally change our booking on a few occasions. This was never a problem and Lisa was extremely kind and tolerant of this. The hotel itself is beautiful. The pool is amazing. We travelled with 4 small children between the ages of 7 months and 10 years. Our 10 yr old has Autism but the hotel met every one's needs and I would definitely recommend it.
Busy well run Hotel with friendly attentive staff. Small issue with the projector cable but had a great hot lunch with plenty of veg. They have a varied menu but no matter what you order you will be satisfied. This place is easy to get to and sufficient parking even for a busy place. There was a nice buzz about the place but they never appeared to be too busy or rushing too much. Well done Killeshan I’ll be back!
Rooms are clean and tidy with pleasant service attentive staff. Food is good with very attentive service. Good meeting room venue with ample parking. WiFi very good and business staff very accommodating. Reasonable prices
Stayed here while at a conference and was extremely impressed with most aspects of the hotel. We had agreed a rate of €75 for the night and factoring that in, it really was exceptional value. The hotel is located just off the M7, easy parking and very nice lobby area. The room was huge and the beds comfy. Bathroom is fine. The bar food was very tasty but the drink selection was poor. Craft beer was terrible. Breakfast the next day was lovely. We rented meeting rooms which were well located within the hotel and was also given to us at a good rate. Overall, would definitely recommend if considering for a meeting or conference.
