Found the bar food in the Midlands Park Hotel excellent. There was a group of 8 all having a variety of dishes. Everyone really pleased with their food. Staff really friendly and attentive. No problem having drinks delivered to the table. Excellent service.
At a wedding here in August and the hotel just did not disappoint! Such wonderful staff who really make sure your every need is attended too. The hotel itself is just beautiful and such an ideal place for gorgeous wedding photos! The waiters and bar staff were always smiling and up for having fun. Staff kept things moving all night and the meal was excellent! A great place for a wedding and to stay. Highly recommend this place to anyone for a wedding.
This hotels is a gem, the location was prefect for all of us to travel too, it was clean and comfortable, the food was great and all the staff were friendly, helpful and made the visit special. Can't wait to go make and stay again. I can't recommend this hotel enough.
My friends and I stayed here for a spa night away. We arrived to the hotel around 8pm and was welcomed by reception. Our room was beautiful and very modern. We were woken by a fire alarm at 2am. We went to the reception area and were informed that there was no fire. My friends and I were upset to be woken but it was out of the staffs hands as they had to wait for the fire team. 3am was when the fire stopped. The next morning we got free breakfast as an apology and all the staff when going for breakfast and checking out were very apologetic. A few hours after we left the hotel rang again apologizing and said that they’d offer us some great deals when we return. The spa was also so nice and we went for a swim afterwards. Overall this hotel is a really nice stay and definitely a four star. The fire alarm wasn’t ideal but this could have happened at any hotel at any time. Definitely not a reason to fault them. Will definitely be back.
Arrived at 8 PM, receptionist has prepared key for room, but has no idea regarding details of bookings. Ask me to pay for room, which was paid already, refuse to look on confirmation & spend 5 minutes searching on system. No information regarding breakfast or any other facilities in hotel was recommended. At 2 PM fire alarm start to work. Night porter wasn't able to switch it off. As result I left at 2.30 AM & went to other hotel to sleep. In the end of the day - I paid full price for room & breakfast for 6 hours of stay, left overnight & didn't get my breakfast. I don't believe that this kind of service will make anyone happy
It started at check-in! The receptionist kept insisting that my booking did not include breakfast and was trying to charge me an extra EUR30 for 2 breakfasts. I asked for a quiet room as i was starting work at 5am and got allocated a room at the back of the hotel overlooking portlaoise railway station. Train horns and public address announcements every 20 mins. I was put on third floor to find lift out of order. Had to carry all bags up the stairs. TV in room had only a few staions. Rang reception to ask if there was an issue with RTE. She said she would send someone up to the room straight away. This person never appeared. Fire alarm went off at 2am for one full hour. Guests all came down to lobby, many in pyjamas. Night duty manager Dennis kept saying it was a false alarm that was activated in the bar. He had a very poor manner with frightened and irate guests. He never once apologised for the situation. He couldnt switch off the alarm so he rang the fire brigade who arrived promptly. When they heard that there was no fire they said "it's not a fire brigade you need but an electrician". One of the guests asked the manager if he had rung the alarm service number on a sticker on the alarm unit. He hadn't thought of that. Alarm still going off. Kids grannies and everything in between still in the lobby. A man fell down the stairs in his rush to escape the fire. He had a suspected broken leg so an ambulance was called for him. Eventually at 3am the alarm was finally silenced. Cooked breakfast the next morning was terrible. The waitress told us to help ourselves to the buffet and explained the hot breakfasts are cooked to order. When the cooked breakfast landed the mushrooms were cold and the rashers were like leather. Definitely not cooked to order. Awful. On checkout I was given a 50% discount by a very pleasant receptionist Danielle. However I will NEVER be back!
First time here since it was taken over a couple of years ago. We had s great time. The new decor is lovely, really warm and a great atmosphere. The food is stunning and the rooms are quite big. The leisure centre is really well kept and the kids had a ball We will definitely be back.
I have just returned from our 3 night stay which was with my husband and 3 young children. We were originally put into the wrong room and I hate complaining but when I mentioned it to Danielle at reception she could not have been any nicer and understanding. We were moved without any hassle and the room was perfect for the 5 of us. The hotel decor is stunning, the kiddos loved the pool and kids club. The staff in the charter bar could not have been any friendlier and attentive. Then the mamager and assistant manager rambling around to have a friendly chat was an extra personal touch. Only 1 downside was the heat in the room but the fans in the room went along way in combating that! Thank you so much for a lovely, comfortable and relaxing (even with 3 smallies) stay. We cannot wait to come back again!
Stayed for two nights midweek with husband and our little boy. We used the pool every day and had food in both Kelly's steak house and the restaurant in the hotel. Would highly recommend this great hotel. Got a great deal including family pass to Japanese garden and national stud. Well worth a trip.
Would highly recommend this hotel staff couldnt off been nicer food in the hotel was lovely great selection at breakfast the rooms were a great size for a family of 5 and the kids club was fantastic cant wait to return for a Halloween
