Budget accommodation venue with reasonable rooms and clean. Location about mike from town. The dining room attached ok. Gym quite good. WiFi average. Staff are very pleasant to deal with. Not an ideal family weekend away spot I’d say.
I was to thank all the team at the Maldron Hotel Portlaoise for a wonderful College Reunion last month. 23 friends from all over the country congregated after leaving college 25 & 26 years ago. Everyone was delighted with the venue, the location, the private room, the food and ultimately the excellent value for money. Marta organised a perfect package for our event with a private room for dinner, a great menu & excellent attention to detail. Sincere thanks to the manager Tom who was so welcoming, Josephine for wonderful table service, Alex the barman & the night porters for their patience!!! I would like to commend the hotel for genuinely lovely accommodation & an excellent dinner & breakfast. Some of us thoroughly enjoyed the leisure facilities on Saturday which was very beneficial after a late Friday night!!! We hope to make it an annual reunion and look forward to booking with you again next November. Sincere thanks to all your staff.
Stayed here with a group of friends to go Christmas shopping at Kildare village. On arrival when we told the receptionist where we were going she kindly gave each of us a voucher for a further 10 percent discount on everything in Kildare village which we thought was great. We had dinner in the restaurant that evening and couldn't fault it the steak was delicious and Shauna couldn'tdo enough for us. Breakfast the following morning was great everything was so fresh and the hot breakfast was excellent. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed. Will definitely be back.
I visited this hotel yesterday and was hoping to get some food. The restaurant was closed so no food available or no one at the bar area. Was told by a painter in the area that the restaurant was not open till 5. He advised to go to a kind of fast food area next door and I was able to get something to eat. However the choice of wholesome food was non existant and what I had was from a chinese type bar and was tastless and I spent the night on the loo - so overall not a good experience. Would I visit again - simple answer definitely not for food. This kind of place may be beneficial for a simple stop over for a driving break for coffee. I cannot comment on the hotel facilities but it does have a pool and gym available.
Stayed at this hotel for the mid term break with family, Lovely staff on reception rooms ready on time, check in and out w very good but after quick and no fuss. Kids loved the kids club and the lovey girls who also worked at the leisure center. Hotel is lovely and clean, the house keeping staff does a very good job in a short time. The only change i would suggest is to change the menu//// we were here for 3 nights same menu each night. The food was very good but nothing worse than knowing all day what you going to get for dinner.... an odd surprise would be nice. Plenty parking and food outlets, will be back, many thanks to all for a great mid term.
I stayed there with husband and kids over the midterm break. We got a spotless clean room with two big double beds and a single bed. What can I say that hasn't been said already? Really nice friendly girls on reception, I left a couple of items behind when I checked out and the girls couldn't have been more helpful, thank you Caroline. The leisure facilities were really good, really nice warm swimming pool and a kids pool, breakfast wasn't the usual bog standard buffet, it was really nice, and lots of different options, the kids had a great time in the kids club, and we enjoyed having a drink and chatting with the barman, not sure of his name, but he was so friendly and nice,, so all in all, a really good hotel to stay in. Thank you and we will be back!!
Stayed here for one night - very easy to find, just off the motorway and right beside a services food court. Rooms were a good size and clean. Check in was quite slow and the pool was closed whilst I was there. Handy hotel for a stop over when travelling!
We stayed here for 1 night the 1st week in September. The room was lovely, plenty of space and clean. The staff were all very friendly and food in the restaurant was excellent. The only problem we had was they had no Tonic water for the Gin. (they only had one open bottle which was flat). Said they were waiting on a delivery the next day. Surely the local shop would have sold them some. Everything else was excellent.
A delightful hotel .... just off the motorway .. perfect stop ... great food options ... wonderful breakfast ... The perfect pit stop ! Leisure Guests well looked after too with great Leisure Centre and very warm welcome. I thoroughly recommend and rates are excellent too. Value for money indeed.
A group of us ( nine ladies) stayed for one night, including dinner, for a sister's 60th birthday. From arriving at reception, we found the service to be excellent, efficient and friendly. The receptionist took the birthday cake to put into the fridge until dinner, and told us she would let us know when the birthday girl arrived, as we wanted to decorate her room. Dinner was lovely, beautiful food and good service. I was sorry I didn't note the name of the lady who looked after us for dinner, she wore glasses and was fair-haired, and couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was fabulous, a great range of foods. Emily was on duty again in the morning, and she also was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely consider coming back here, as it's a great base for travelling on to Newbridge or Kildare village for shopping. Well done!
