Stayed here last weekend for my first time along with my 2 sons in the way to Dublin for the match. We had a brilliant time, hotel is spotless and well run from check in to check out. Room was spot on, modern and clean. Took to the boys to dinner at the grain & grill and menu suited all of us and was delicious. Staff were so nice and friendly throughout. We had a swim before breakfast in fab pool and finished up with a top class breakfast. Well done Maldron, we will be back.

To start of I booked this hotel on bargain breaks Ireland . And what a brilliant deal i got two nights bed and breakfast and a two course meal each night for 2.only 270 for a weekend break in August wow.our meals on each night we're quality and the buffet breakfasts we're as good and the best poached eggs I've had to date.pool and gym spotless.i booked my wife in for a massage for the Saturday and she said it was great. I would highly recommend this hotel and the staff were great we always got seen to very quickly and they are really friendly and helpful. 5 stars.

We stopped over for a lunch in the new grain and grill restaurant - which had been advertised on the radio quite a bit - the restaurant was very quiet when we arrived around 2oc - poor layout - our meal was only lukewarm didn't like to complain as we were tired and hungry - nobody asked us how our meal was and there was only one girl covering the bar and restaurant - a disappointing visit I'm afraid we won't be back!

This hotel is ideally located and has great parking as well as friendly staff. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable access to the leisure centre is a bonus also. Thank you for a pleasant stay would recommend and would return.

Had 1 night in this hotel, room was clean and nice size. Being close to the freeway handy but as we had a room facing the road, this made the room quite noisy. Desk staff friendly and knowledgeable. The wateress in the restaurant was overwhelmed with the number of families, (it was a bank holiday). Gave up on dinner, unable find any eating places, ended up going to the local Aldi and made up a salad in the room. Breakfast was good. Should have taken my bathers this hotel had a nice pool.

Situated at a motorway junction the hotel is very easy to find. Beside is a food court and a gym and swimming pool which guests have full use of. The room was quite large and clean and comfortable enough. Amenities in the room were good, good thick curtains also. Breakfast was quite good, not the best quality, would have loved to see potato and soda bread on the menu as vegetarians hot breakfast was limited, however that said you don't leave hungry as there is plenty to choose from continental and cereal wise. As a paying customer you expect value for money and the Maldron in Portlaoise delivered on this.

We were on our way to the South West and stayed overnight as this was just one and a half hours drive from Dublin Port. The hotel was extremely well maintained and comfortable. There was good choice at breakfast. Staff were courteous and helpful. Might have enjoyed staying longer had we not had such a full schedule already. We didn't have time to enjoy the health suite, use of which as included in the price of our stay

The hotel is just off the motorway so its very convenient . The rooms were of a decent size . Breakfast was good value at 10 euro . The staff on reception were very friendly . The bar staff on the other hand need to brush up on their people skills they were not so friendly

Third time staying here for two nights. This was the bet yet. Spotless rooms, great kids club. Only issue was a watch went missing from our room. We told reception but she didn't care and took a number of it turned up. We haven't got it and the only other person in the room was the cleaner.

While some may see the name of the hotel and make assumptions, I still believe that the Maldron chain in general deserve great credit. Again like other Maldron's I have stayed in for both business and pleasure, the food is well above the average. The pool and gym are better than some "fancier hotels" and the staff are friendly, accommodating and helpful. On the side of family time my kids rather the Maldron over any other hotel in Portlaoise (and we've tried them all when they accompany me on business too). The Maldron Portlaoise is seriously good value for money. There is several food establishments in the area but the hotels own food is much better. you don't need to leave the building. I will be back again and again because the kids will demand it.
