Just left here after 9 nights and wow what a beautiful hotel! From arrival we were made to feel very welcome, all of the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was absolutely lovely and so spacious. The whole hotel was cleaned to a high standard, it was a beautiful hotel and very calm and chilled and I loved every minute of my stay. We had half board and the food in the restaurant was delicious, there was plenty to choose from, my boyfriend is allergic to chicken and fish and still had enough choice to enjoy each meal (the Asian themed night on Friday was the meal I enjoyed the most). The hotel was only a short walk from bus stops, shops, bars and the strip and only 10 minutes from the airport. 100% recommended this hotel and would definitely return here again!
Um - where to start with this hotel? Beautiful looking hotel - achingly cool and the grounds are absolutely immaculate. Staff were cleaning outside from morning to night to keep it looking beautiful. Unfortunately, despite arriving at 12.30 pm, our room was not ready and we had to wait an hour and a half for it. The hotel did not seem full so I am not sure why we could not be allocated a different one. On getting in to the room, we found only one towel and had to ring for more. After waiting so long, we would have assumed a final check would have been done to ensure it was fully ready. And something to note - we had an Atlantic suite and I believe this room is being mis-sold as having a "sea view". There is a lovely terrace but if you have an idea that you would like to sit on your sun bed and watch the sea - forget it! In front of you is a high, grey coloured wall, blocking any view when you are sitting down. The only way to see the sea is to stand up and lean over this wall and look past the roofs of the houses in front of you. I think the hotel need to change the description to "partial sea view". Very disappointing. The staff are, almost without exception, excellent. Waiting staff, pool bar staff, reception - they all do a great job and are eager to please. The exception to this good team unfortunately were the room cleaners. The majority of the room cleaning staff seemed to have no perception of privacy! Twice, despite having a do not disturb sign on the door, they walked straight in (despite seeing me walk in to the room just a minute before, so they knew we were inside) and on one occasion catching me on the loo. One young girl was brilliant - I wish I'd caught her name, but it seemed a couple of the older ones need a short refresher on privacy. Ongoing during the week, our cleaner problem seemed to continue as on another occasion we had no shower gel left for us to use after it had been cleaned, dirty cups and saucers were not replaced, and then on our last night we were not left any towels whatsoever! I went up to Reception to complain and let them know we'd experienced problems all week, but sadly was met with a shrug - they weren't really interested in our complaint (despite me mentioning that I wanted to point out the mistakes whilst I was there s they could rectify it, rather than say nothing and then put it on here later). Sadly we then had to wait another hour and make another phone call to eventually get our towels. Not what we would expect in a hotel of that calibre. The buffet restaurant served delicious food night and morning with plenty of choice, fresh cooked eggs in the morning, delicious choices of bread, and some absolutely delicious sausages, along with unlimited Cava for breakfast, but the general atmosphere in the evenings was more functional than relaxing. Again, the staff were excellent but it felt like a staff canteen for the evening meal. A little background music would maybe a good idea? The pool was absolutely freezing! No pleasure to be had at all in swimming in it - it was just too cold to spend much time in the water. It needs heating a little to ensure it is comfortable for the residents. It was not used much at all, which was a shame. The local area was of two halves. The PdC new town was atrocious! Full of Irish bars, full English breakfast and cheap beer type of places. Awful. The area around the harbour, the old town, was much much nicer. The hill back up to the hotel from the old town is an absolute killer though - one Road is almost a vertical climb. Good for working off all the good breakfast food at the hotel! In summary, it's a lovely hotel but not quite there yet. At the moment it's a triumph of style over substance and it's main asset currently is the wonderful staff. Would we go back - probably not.
We have just returned from a week in Lanzarote and stayed in this beautiful hotel. We booked with Thomson and I have to say I don't understand why this hotel is not a 5⭐️ I think Thomson need to relook at their ratings. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. The reception smells so fresh and clean as does the rest of the hotel. We stayed in room 303 which was one of the basic rooms that the hotel offers but it was still the best room we have had and the sun terrace is fantastic. The only slight thing is that the bathroom is more like a big wet room and due to the stunning design, the shower tended to splash over on the floor but whenever we returned at night the floor had been fully cleaned and dried (without us asking for this to be done) we even had chocolates placed on our pillows. The staff are friendly and the hotel is kept spotless. Even though the hotel was full it was so quiet and peaceful. We will definitely go back to this hotel it is the perfect place for couples as there are no kids or rowdiness around the pool. This place gets 5 stars from us. Thank you for a lovely lovely holiday, just wish we had booked for longer x x
Like many others already, this is our second time here in 2 years. This is because once you have experienced the luxury of La Isla Y El Mar you won't want to downgrade. And there isn't anywhere else on this level. We had a deluxe suite this time which I can recommend to anyone. Especially good if you don't or can't sit around the pool all day in 32 degree heat! Lovely to come back to after a morning walk and have sunbeds, towels, water and a Jacuzzi all ready and waiting! We stayed half board and found it excellent value for money. Ate in the a la carte one night and enjoyed the meal and service. But the buffet is that nice, we didn't feel the need to go again so ate out a couple of nights too. The only disappointment is the area. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much happening to spruce up some of the run-down parts of the old town. Like the walk from the hotel to the harbour. It is dreadful! Maybe things will improve soon. But it wouldn't stop me returning to this hotel. It makes up for it! See you next year!!
Brilliant hotel. We came here for our honeymoon. Was nice and quiet. Could always get a sunbed which were nice thick beds. We liked the chill out part to sunbathe. Poolside waiter service was great too. All staff very friendly and helpful. Turn down service in the evening. Rooms cleaned daily. A la carte was great and made a nice change from the not so great selection of restaurants in the near by town and just outside the hotel. Breakfast was fantastic so much selection to choose from and fresh eggs made for you by the chef on request. You can walk to the litttle town it's not far and makes a nice morning / evening walk but if you are not great with walking or have a wheelchair it might not be so good but you can get a cab. They didn't have a coach for transfer to and from the airport like we thought, but a great touch was a private taxi so no stopping at all different hotels and only 10 minutes from the airport. The spa was small but nice to go to when the weather was overcast. We enjoyed our hotel and our stay.
Wow, well what can I say? The hotel Itself is beautiful.Myself and our family thoroughly enjoyed our week stay. We had a stunning sea view with a hot tub that exceeded are expectations. The complex is immaculate, with staff that will do their utmost to make your stay unforgettable. If you need a holiday to relax and unwind. Look no further. It is Fantastic!!! The food is beautiful, caterers for all. Carmina and her team will go that bit further to make your stay as special as they can. I can not fault this hotel it is pure relaxation & luxury. Beach is five min down the hill amongst the shops. So If you fancy entertainment, there're enough bars for those boozy nights out. Overall - I have to say this hotel gets a five star from the Morgan family.
This hotel is perfect for relaxing, great breakfast (especially the pancakes and cava!). They are plenty of comfortable sun lounges with at sun lounger service. Rooms are large, stylish and very comfortable. The best part about the hotel is the al la cart restaurant it is incredible and is very reasonably priced. A place to switch off and relax, not much else to do :).
The hotel is beautiful and of a high standard in every area, inside and out. My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed the luxury of our stay here in our sea view suite. The photos do not do the hotel justice, I would highly recommend a visit to see for yourself, one word - PERFECT
Stayed here for a week in April 2017. We were very impressed. Absolutely Beautiful hotel. Had a stunning seaview suite. The breakfast was amazing every morning..great choice of continental or cooked fresh food. Had dinner in their restaurant on one of the evenings..high standard of food but it lacked atmosphere. Staff were very friendly. Beautiful sunbathing area by the pool bar with bar food menu available all day. It is situated on top of a very steep hill so be prepared for a workout every time u walk back unless yoy get a taxi which there are plenty of! Will definitely go back😊
The hotel is situated a short walk from Puerto del Carmen, it's stunning, you feel like you are walking into your own private oasis from the reception onwards the complex is very well maintained and cleaned. The look is volcanic with grey stone blocks, cacti and tropical planting. In the centre is a shallow but decent pool, showers, large jacuzzi and a mirrored bar (great food, good prices) that reflects the palms and blue skies. It's a relaxing place with a small well equipped gym and spa. Breakfasts are vast, fresh and delicious. Our room was beautiful, air conditioning is chilling and perfect, comfortable beds, huge bathroom and the wifi works well. All rooms have large balconies with loungers and chairs with huge beach towels and fluffy gowns/slippers provided. There's a coded safe but the whole complex feels safe. A perfect hotel. The resort though is tired and decidedly low rent in places, if you like 10 screens showing football, endless Irish bars (around 30), restaurants from around the world and the same 'designer' shops then this place is for you, if not stick to the port area and a few nice restaurants or eat and live in the hotel. They have some singers during the week in the chill out area otherwise no forced entertainment which is bliss. It's virtually child free too. The only downside was the complimentary Nespresso capsules, you get 4 and that's it, lots of tea but no more coffee (even instant) unless you buy it €10 for 10 none of this is mentioned until you ask, there is a supermarket (Superdino) 2 mins away that sell capsules for €2 for 10, otherwise no other complaints.
