We stayed here for our honeymoon and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. This property reminds me of the type of places the "baddies" in James Bond films stay. Indeed, it could be like Scaramanga's palace in the film the "The Man with the Golden Gun". So the pros: very caring staff, we got to speak to the Hotel manager on more than one occcasion and he showed genuine interest in his guests. We also saw him walking around the property and so evidently he is not the type of manager who hides in his office. The breakfast: there is a lot of healthy produce all from the property, the honey is sensational, the bacon very tasty and we enjoyed chatting to Magda everyday. There are two swimming pools and so you can get away from noisy children. I like chilling by the pool and spent the afternoon enjoying the cocktails on offer. The barman is very friendly and makes you feel at home. The cons: I am almost 2 metres tall and was put into room 37 (if my memory is good), you have to be careful as the ceilings are low getting up to the level where the rooms are. Secondly, the air conditioning unit was not working well, it was too noisy and so we had to transfer rooms. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful for assisting us with the change. Finally, the spa, goodness me, the girls in there gave my wife and I 90 minutes of pure relaxation, it was a wonderful experience.

Simply wonderful hotel ! Staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Already had a good accommodation deal - stay 3 nights, pay 2, but then got upgraded to a premium residence room. Can definitely recommend - the design and execution of the property is well thought through and beautiful. Two giant swimming pools - the kids one gets the best light in the afternoon - free water bought to your sun lounger. Food at restaurant pretty reasonable, and can really recommend the house wine (pro tip: bottles can be bought for half the price sold at the restaurant at the hotel's shop in Monemvasia). Excellent little fitness room. It was the perfect oasis and our 3 day visit ended too soon!

The road to the Kinsterna Hotel is deceiving: winding, crumbling at the edges; we thought we had made a mistake in some way. And then we rounded the final corner and entered a haven of tranquility and elegance. Set in the rugged hills above the romantic Medieval city of Monemvasia, the Kinsterna combines historic charm and authenticity with modern, elegant and stylish surroundings. Two infinity pools look out onto a valley lined with olive trees and a vineyard. The ultimate soundtrack of farm to table is this: sitting by the pool one hear's the nearby goats and donkeys calling out for dinner or attention, the hum of insects and the buzz of bees that are an essential element to the terraced gardens just below. All of which is provides the ingredients for the delicious food here. This is a truly special sanctuary of relaxation, sun kissed food, beauty.

Located on a blissful hillside overlooking the med, water flows through the terraces and pools creating a sense of peace and tranquility. Surrounded by nature you can pick the figs of the trees and sample the pomegranate juice at breakfast - simply heavenly. The aesthetic is truly gorgeous- blending the best of ottoman, Byzantine and 21st century design. Our first room was exquisitely designed but a little dark so him indoors asked if we could change room - they moved us without fuss to a large room with a garden terrace. All the staff were unfailingly helpful. The food both at the 'posh' restaurant and at the less 'posh' one was lovely and reasonably priced and breakfast was splendid. Locally after exploring Monemvasia there are some truly wonderful beaches to savour. Our favourite was nearby - Ampelakia with its sandy shore and crystalline water. Really no negatives if you want a really peaceful retreat in a exceptionally beautiful setting then this place is for you.

Greek-style breakfast was delicious and abundant. The property's facilities were all excellent, from the two pool areas to the impeccable spa (my husband experienced "the best massage he's ever had in his life"). The staff was polite, ever-present but discreet, and always ready to answer questions and assist (we had forgotten our iPhone charger and they immediately provided one for our entire stay). The property itself is beautiful, and if you're looking for a place to escape for a couple of days, relax and refuel, this is the hotel you're looking for, whether you decide to remain on the property for your entire stay (as we did) or opt for exploring the surrounding area that is famous for its traditional villages and unique Greek natural beauty. Extra points: The water was extra soft, which made this reviewer's long hair detangle within seconds! We stayed in room 24 (a byzantine-like gem), which might have been a bit too small if we were to be visiting in the winter season, when one would like to stay more indoors. But as summer travelers, we spent most of the day on the terraces and by the pool. :)

What a wonderful hotel! The setting is beautiful, the accommodation was very comfortable and well designed ( great bathrooms) and the staff were great. Although the hotel was full when we were there (Aug) in never felt crowded, loved that they had a kids pool as well as an adult pool. This is just the place for R and R- we will be back. Thank you to Christoff and his staff- we had a excellent holiday.

We stayed for seven nights in a double room at this hotel and had a fantastic experience. The hotel has been painstakingly renovated and the care taken comes across - the staff seem really invested in the ethos of the hotel and we were given a tour of the mansion which included its history and a tour of the grounds, picking various fruits along the way. The breakfast, which offers a huge spread, consists mainly of products produced by the hotel itself and is exceptional, combining traditional Greek breakfast dishes with the usual eggs, bacon, cereal, juices and fruit. Our room was located in the old mansion and was very atmospheric, with vaulted ceiling and large walk-in rainfall shower. The pay off for the character was that it was dark and had no outdoor space allocated to it but the feeling of the room and attention to detail in the furnishings more than made up for this. We really appreciated the separate adult and children pools and there were never more than two people swimming in the pool at once. Sunbeds were always available, felt very private and you can smell the mint/jasmine plants. The pool staff were also very attentive, providing free bottled water on ice all day. We ate at all three of the hotel's restaurants during our stay and the all-day restaurant offered reasonably priced food for lunch or an easy dinner and the smarter restaurant was in such a wonderful setting for a special meal. The taverna, however, was a set menu at an extortionate price for the quality of food - the food resembled something of a school dinner and I would strongly suggest avoiding the hotel's taverna in favour of the many wonderful local tavernas in the area (particularly the one at the bottom of the road leading to Kinsterna), which offer inexpensive and delicious homegrown food and drink (2.50 euros for 500ml of wine). The wine that the hotel produces is definitely worth sampling - it's really lovely but you can buy a bottle from the hotel's boutique in town for 9 euros vs the 21 euros they charge at the hotel. We also made good use of the fitness room, which was a very welcome addition. The old town of Monemvasia, a short drive away, is a must-see and I'd also recommend a trip to Elafonisos beach, also easily accessible from the hotel. It is the staff and setting of this hotel that make it magical and definitely worth 5 stars.

The stuff was very friendly and helpful making you feel like a special guest. The room was very spacious with beatiful decoration and all the amenities a luxury room must have. The best think is that you have a luxury hotel experience combined with the life in nature.

I had the chance to spend a couple of days in this unique place. The nature there is so beautiful and the amazing renovated building with the excellent polite service gives you a really amazing experience. Everybody knows how to take care the visitors with respect to the nature , to the privacy and in order to give a really nice experience. Although it is an expensive property, Kinsterna is an experience, combining with the really good food with ingredients produced inside the hotel and unique breakfast! Thank you!

We were looking for a memorable experience for our honeymoon, but Kinsterna exceeded our expectations offering us a unique and unforgettable holiday. Built around an exquisitely renovated medieval mansion, Kinsterna has a magical air reminding you of storybook townlets. Its appearance, however, belies a complex facility offering high-quality accomodation and service. While there is much to say about our experience I will only summarize the highlights: Our premium residence was spacious with a balcony overlooking the sea, a fantastic large marble bathroom and superior furnishings. The residence offered us absolute comfort and privacy and we enjoyed every minute of our stay there. The extraordinary attention to detail in designing Kinsterna was evident everywhere, but in our room we especially liked the lace imprints adorning the walls. We used both pools, but prefered the family pool given its natural shade albeit at the price of company of children. Kinsterna wouldn't have been a high-class resort without its amazing staff who were so professional and courteous and spared no effort to make our stay pleasant. Finally, Kinsterna comes with the added bonus of being only 6 km from the marvelous medieval castle town of Monemvasia which is a must-see for every traveler. Our stay was not without hickups: on arrival we were told about a free upgrade only to realize it was the premium residence we had already booked - as we got what we wanted it didn't actually matter. Although wifi is accessible in most areas, its quality should be better, especially in rooms. Kinsterna produces its own honey (as well as olive oil, wine, cheese and many fruits and vegetables), but it comes with the attendant presence of bees/wasps which have you constantly on the lookout and can make your stay near the pools uncomfortable at times.
