We were camping and got rained out. Just happened to find this place on Expedia and we're absolutely amazed by such a wonderful Lodge it is. That was 4 years ago and we now always stay at the Granlibakken anytime we are in Tahoe. They have everything here and no need to leave the property. The only draw back is that there is only one ice machine (that we could find) and it is located near the lobby. Other than that, great place to stay for sure!!!

Guys, this one is tough. This place is fantastic except for two things. First, our room was really small for two adults. The bathrooms were surprisingly big — which we loved. Last, the mattress is a covered coiled nightmare. They were ok at best, but nearly destroyed our aging backs. With the complaints out of the way I’ll say that the place is really good. The overall experience is what can only be described as “car/condo camping.” Campground feel and layout. Cozy lodge and restaurant — good mix of modern and old world charm. The rooms are, clean, cozy and very close to your vehicle— which I totally appreciated. The staff is AWESOME — totally guest-friendly. If they installed better mattresses it would be great. Ok for a short stay, but can’t spend a week sleeping on them — especially if you do any sort of exercise or mountain/lake activities. Close to everything in Tahoe City, lake, river and ski areas. Went in August. Will write another review when we return in winter. May bring our own mattress. LOL!

I liked the rustic setting, pool, jacuzzi and pball courts. However, I was kept awake two straight nights by loud party noise and music. I wish property had informed me on check-in that my room overlooked an event center with wedding parties both nights of my stay and offered me a different location. I had the windows closed too.

Lovely Tahoe

We had a fantastic 2-night stay at Granlibakken Tahoe! The location is perfect—peaceful, tucked in the trees, yet close to everything around the lake. The manager was so welcoming, friendly, and always happy to help, which really made us feel at home. The lodge has that cozy Tahoe charm that makes you want to stay longer. My husband says he’s never slept so well—though that might be because I made him carry the luggage. 😉 Already looking forward to coming back!

We loved the convenient location. Hiking paths right off the property and the agility course. The outdoor pool with hot tub and sauna is great. Wished the outdoor pool opened before 10 AM for a lap swimming. The accommodations were very comfortable, and the resort “style” was very appealing.

My stay was not enjoyable, I informed the hotel prior to my arrival I would be coming with a service animal for my disability. On the phone they asked if it was a service animal or a ESA? Because “ESA’s are not allowed, only service animals are allowed on the property.” - that’s illegal, to refuse an ESA that has paperwork. It’s not a pet, it’s registered to the handler. Regardless, I had a service animal but the fact they said that and it’s also on their website was a bit off and need to be looked at further. When I arrived it was difficult to find the check in area, the property is huge. I spent 30 mins driving around to find my room located on the back side of the other rooms. I was placed on the top floor which is not ADA accessible (NO ELEVATOR THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PROPERTY). The hall ways smelt like marijuana throughout my stay, the ceiling fans did not work properly, only stayed on low speed and knob to control does not work. Hotel was very outdated and does not say anywhere there is no a/c on the property would never come back to this property very run down! Not close to the beach, at least a 5-min drive, also would need to drive to their restaurant not walkable unless you’re into hikes. Lots of hills and slopes on this property. was also upgraded to a suite by mistake and then they tried to charge me $422, said it was something through Expedia. I called Expedia, they informed me I owed nothing additional. Expedia called the hotel and sorted it out. Felt very scammy.
