Before you decide to stay here BEWARE!! I've been visiting Lake George since I was 16 and am now 61. It is my favorite vacation of the year. The Villas was the worst experience I've ever encountered. First of all the pictures on the Internet did not match the condition of the unit I received. My family did not believe the unit was properly cleaned before our arrival. There were onions and peels stuck to the fridge draw. Water was leaking and caused a puddle under the other draw. The oven had a dirty baking pan in it with burnt food particles at the bottom. The toilet seat had dirty grime around the seat. The air conditioner in one of the bedrooms kept falling off and had disgusting grime on it. There was no assigned parking so the entire grounds was overcrowded car wise. We couldn't operate the TV because there was no remote. The only reason why I contacted the Villas was for the beautiful pictures they have on the Internet and the fact that they allowed me to bring my poodle on vacation even though they have a no pet policy. Nice right? No. When I checked in one of the owners Lenny said is that a dog? We don't allow dogs. Then his wife who was extremely rude and said there is no way they would have ever allowed dogs and told me they would charge more money for it. Then I showed them both the email communications I saved where Lenny and his sister confirmed it was OK to bring the dog. We only stayed one night and then had a nice experience at Alpine Village, Green Haven Resort and the Lake Haven Motel. In the presence of my son and my daughter, Lenny made NO ADJUSTMENT to my bill and lack of appropriate service. So if you intend to stay here, just beware and learn from my experience.
Firstly, I'd like to start off by saying that the staff is really kind especially the young guys working at the boat rental and the young lady working at the cafe. However, this inn was truly overpriced and outdated. We booked the Villa Suite with the expectation of it looking the way it does on the website but found that the pictures on the website were old. Our room had beds with no headboards, there was practically no drawer space (the drawers in pictures online were MUCH larger), and the kitchen fridge was leaking during our entire stay. The airconditioning was only in the living room area of the room and the actual bedrooms had ceiling fans that weren't enough for the summer heat. We would've opened the windows to get some ventilation but those were broken too so we had to sleep in cramped humid bedrooms. One of our major issues was how dirty the rooms were. Housekeeping only came by to drop off towels and a garbage bag (you took out the garbage yourself) but the towels were dirty and stained. The bedsheets also had stains on them and we found hair on the pillowcases that weren't ours. Even when we asked for new towels housekeeping still brought more towels with stains (pictures included). The couch that opened up as a bed would flip up whenever someone would lay down on it and the sheets on that were also stained. Additionally, the curtains in the bedrooms were very see-through so there was a lot of light coming in through the windows in the mornings and we had to change in the bathroom if we didn't want our neighbors to see us naked. The paint on the walls was also chipping off and half of the lawn chairs on the lake were broken so whenever we would sit on them we would end up with our bodies touching the ground. We did, however, enjoy the boating and the free canoeing and kayaking. Unfortunately, with the price that we paid for this room, we expected a lot more. This was absolutely not a "Villa Suite" and could've easily been considered well below a standard room. Even if it didn't live up to its "Villa" title at the very least it should've been clean and comfortable but it was dirty and uncomfortable which is why we spent most of our trip outside. We've been coming to Lake George every summer for the past few years and have stayed in different motels that charged the same price but had proper housekeeping, large rooms & amenities, and a great location. Overall, I found that the room was overpriced and what we were given didn't match up to the pictures posted online at ALL. The most relaxation that we got was when we were out by the lake (which is the only reason I gave it two stars) but other than that the rooms were a disaster. I think part of the reason that this has a lot of high reviews is because it is a family-owned business and we noticed that a lot of the people who were staying there were people who knew the owners. If you're looking for a nice lakefront motel I'd recommend staying at the Olympian Village Resort which is SO much cleaner and put together for the same price. I even emailed the owners about our stay and never got a response back so they clearly dont care about customer service. Im typically very easy going when it comes to stuff like this but this room was genuinely embarrassing considering I even invited friends on this trip. My advice? Stay away. Not worth the money and you'll come back from your vacation feeling stressed and ripped off. There are plenty of other amazing inns in the area so won't be coming back.
Really didn’t know what to expect as we had never stayed here before. We were check in and greeted by friendly staff. Room was very spacious. Could have been a little cleaner. Someone had hung streamers from a previous stay and some the the tape was left behind. Under the beds could also been vacuumed better. So many things for the kids to do! We loved the private beach access. One of the nicer places we have stayed in the Lake George area.
We recently stayed at the Villas in Lake George. The rooms were old but clean and maintained , every place in lake George has an old feel to it. The hotel was right on the lake; there’s a playground and a beautiful pool and there are paddle boards, canoes and kayaks to use free of charge. Lots of chairs at the lake to sit on and a dock for fishing pontoon rentals etc. there’s also a swim doc . The grounds are beautifully maintained. The staff is super friendly and the owners bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. We stayed in a 2 bedroom one bathroom suite. Bring a door mat for the inside as mud and dirt are dragged in, bring beach/ pool towels, charcoal and liter fluid. There is plenty of fridge and freezer space for your groceries and picnic tables to eat at outside. Lenny and Silvia are beyond hospitable and Kendra the head housekeeper was very attentive and kind
Checked in to this lovely spot that has a great view of Lake George with very relaxing property. Kayak and Paddle boards are available for use. Staff is very pleasant and always willing to assist. Rooms are Rustic but clean. No complaints. I would definitely return !
Diane and I were on an extended tour of New England coming from Ohio we stayed at lake George on the second night of our 11 day road trip. I would like to say something nice or charming about this hotel, but I cannot find any words that are true and match the "charming or nice" requirements. To start with the room was very small, (microscopic) not my idea of a villa, shabily appointed, "meaning extremely cheap", lamps with no outlets to plug into. Mattress was uncomfortable. Tiny bathrooms, even tinier towels. The office was under re-construction, no coffee or other basic human necessities were to be had in the room or the demolished office. When we checked out the following morning, the manager/owner left a note stating that they had to leave early and to leave the key on the refrigerator in Room #6. Room #6 looked like someone was still living in it, left key and fled. If you want to be on an episode of "My tiny house", this would be a very good practice experience.
Ran out of soap and told by management to use the extra shampoo they were handing out. No wood for the fire pits. Staff doesn't get in till after 8:30 am and leave around 9 pm so if you need anything there's no one there. No ice. Housekeeping never came in three days so we had to search them out to get fresh towels and get rid of dirty ones. Towels felt like sandpaper and some had stains in them. Rooms are dated and looked like they hadn't done anything to them since 1980.
We rented two rooms both for three nights. We paid $1200 and it was not worth it at all. The rooms are old and decrepit. I would not recommend staying here. The owners were very nice and the beds in our rooms were clean. However, the rest of the room was not. The bathroom was dirty and had spiderwebs in every corner. They are completely outdated and for the money they charge to stay here, they should be much nicer! Luckily, when I go on vacation I always bring some kind of cleaner with me which I had to use so I would feel comfortable enough to even take a shower. When we turned the air conditioning on, it smelled dirty and musty and my husband wound up having to clean the vent that was filthy. Also, the floors in the rooms were dirty and I didn’t even want to put my bags down on them. Find another place to stay!
The views were amazing, the staff were friendly, the water felt great. We had such a fun time whether it was swimming in the pool, kayaking, renting a speedboat, etc. Lake George Village is within close driving distance and we were able to always find something to do locally. We will definitely return. Thank you for a great stay!
We booked a basic queen room, bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. The staff was excellent, very friendly and often asking if there was anything we needed. The pool was lovely, and we enjoyed the lounge chairs by the lake with the wonderful views. We would definitely recommend and stay again.
