Been 16 years since we were in Lake City. My wife and I wanted to go for our anniversary. All those years ago we passed by the Texan and always wanted to try it out. Well we finally did. We got there at 1pm and the office said closed and that check in was not until 3pm when. When we got there at 3pm the office still said closed. But to our rescue was Shane. He check us in and was very nice. We were in #12 the Cattleman. It was very dated and musty. Yes it is a rustic cabin. It was clean but musty smelling. The entire site has become over crowded with trying to fit way too many cabins in one spot. The place needs some TLC that is really lacking. Plant some grass and put some flowers in a few pots. And the roads really need to be repaired. This place should be the flag ship of resorts in Lake City but just needs some clean up and someone managing the site. I really feel it is over priced for the amenities. Update your check out process in the cabins. We stripped the linens and looked all around for the laundry room. Then Shane came to the rescue and let us know to just leave them in the cabin.

We were looking for a place to stay in Lake City, CO. Lucky for us we contacted The Texan Resort for our stay. The cabin we stayed in was more than comfortable for a newly retired couple. The place was clean and for the number of cabins on the property it was very quiet. Alden was very hospitable and even offered to show us to our cabin. We were allowed to check in early since it had already been cleaned. Another plus was it was pet friendly. The Lake Fork of the Gunnison runs through the property and since the cabin has a large front porch with chairs, we enjoyed the sounds of the river. There was a playground for the kids, a beautiful waterfall and we even saw a mule deer buck come down from the mountain. We plan to return as soon as possible to do more exploring of the area

Our friends go to Lake City Colorado every year. They have stayed at Texan resort many times. They recommended this resort. They said that we will enjoy the accommodations at this resort. We're excited about staying there.

Not as stated; was told it had a good view (yep - great view of the street and cabins across the road from us); told there was plenty of room for truck, trailer, and ATV (yep - truck and trailer barely fit one beside the other with ATV sitting between tree and edge of road); said the one room cabin could accommodate an extra person (sure - with rearranging the furniture to the point there was no where to sit); you have to dispose of your own trash; you have to turn in your used towels to get more if you can track someone down to give them to (there was 2 towels and 2 washcloths for 3 people when we arrived); ran out of toilet paper and had to ask for that; told you had to keep cabin clean but yet there was no broom to sweep out dirt/leaves so had to ask for that. Would not recommend this place unless you have one vehicle, very little luggage, and had loads of patience.

An interesting trip back to the log cabin days but with up-to-date amenities, internet and satellite TV. The Deer roam freely over the grounds. The waterfall is in full-throated roar as spring melt is occurring - fine background music for sleeping peacefully! See the video tour - its super! We love it here and would recommend to anyone wanting high elevation, starry skies, clear mountain streams and plentiful flowers, trees, and wild game..

I am sadden by my first experience at a mountain cabin. We stayed in a larger cabin with a loft, 2 bedrooms, 2 bath. The cabin design was neat but I recommend adults to sleep in the bedrooms as anyone sleeping in the main room or loft can hear anything, and I do mean anything. The 1970s couch in this cabin was horribly old and broke down. My son was unable to sleep on it. We would have brought an air mattress had we of known. The wooden floors are not stained or sealed so anything dropped on the floor stains it. It doesn’t look very clean. We got a few towels but not enough for all the people staying in our cabin. We ran out of toilet paper. We used what we brought and then our last two days went and asked for toilet paper from the office and was question because we got two rolls. My main issue with this place was the housekeeping. I found a used condom in my bedside table and the next day I found the boxers between the nightstand and wall. It made me question if our sheets were clean. It was brought to the attention of management and they didn’t seem to take me very serious. We were later sent a nice basket with snacks and wine. It was a very sincere and nice attempt but the crackers were open and expired by two years. The cheese had expired by four days and gum was expired by a couple of years. I hate to even mention this but with the cost of the cabins, I expect something different. The bed in our room was comfortable. I did think I should have brought a fan until the room cooled off by the mountain air. I believe this place has the potential to be so much better. It was very peaceful and easy access to the mountains and town. You will need to bring lawn chairs as there is not enough seating on the porch. It was nice to sit out on our porch to watch the wildlife.

15 of us went to Lake City in 2018 for the Wine and Music Festival and stayed at The Texan Resort. The staff was very friendly and Arlen, the owner, worked with us in every way he could. The Cabins were rustic, clean and well-kept. I would highly recommend The Texan for a quiet, wonderful stay in Lake City.

Lake city is a cute town tucked in the mountains of southern Colorado. We came in the Fall of 2018 and the views were stunning. We loved our stay at the Texan Resort. The resort includes a bunch of rustic cabins varying in size with each cabin having its own unique decor and theme. The cabins are basic but come with everything you will need. The cabins were kept clean and the staff was very friendly upon check in and out. The resort is on the edge of town but an easy walk or bike ride to get where you want to go. I would definitely stay at these cabins again and would recommend them to any friends and family.

This place has a bunch of cabins (large, medium and small) nestled in a very wooded area right on the edge of the tine little town of Lake City. Some of the cabins are obviously newer, others are much older. Me and two friends were motorcycle riding across Colorado and we shared a small, older cabin. It was rustic but it was neat and clean and full of character. The beds are a little older but were comfortable nonetheless. Each cabin has chairs outside is surrounded by thick forrest. The guy who is running the place was helpful and easily accommodated us when I asked for a change of cabin (I originally booked for myself and when we arrived, my two friends asked if they could stay here rather than camp as they originally planned).

We had an extra day in Southern Colorado and wanted to go climb a few 14ers. We just decided at 4:00 to try Uncompahgre and Wetterhorn and Still had a 5:00 hour drive. I called Arlen at Texan Resort and he took great care of us. Sent texts on updates and even an upgrade right before we arrived. He had everything ready for our late arrival, great directions and super fun attitude. We pulled up and were pleasantly surprised at the log cabin with full kitchen and lounge area up front. The bed was very comfortable and we both didn’t want to get up in the morning. The place was very clean and comfortable. We chatted with a guy from another cabin that told us how great the place was, so it wasn’t only us. I highly recommend this place and Lake City area for an awesome get away. P.S Don’t try to climb both Uncompahgre and Wetterhorn from Nellie Creek unless you’re up for 19 miles and 7200 Vertical feet, lol😎
