We stayed here for one night on Nov. 2nd. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The location of the hotel is picturesque. We did not eat in the restaurant so I can't judge that. My only slight complaint is that the wifi is WEAK and SLOW. We stayed in room 34(?) and we could only get wifi signal in the bathroom or we had to go outside into the courtyard area. We will most likely stay here again!
Talloires is a secluded village on Lake Annecy, not far from Geneva. The abbey is now a four star hotel, with impeccable service. The beauty of the cloisters bas been préservée. The hôtel organises Frida evening évents, suce as concerts or dinners. Their excellent sommelier , Charly, explains the wines. I was able to swim in the pristine Lane, and the autumn colours were in full glory. There are fine sans gérant, one to the nature preserve is for the fit. The hôtel's boat provides tours and shipping in the middle' of the lake. Avoid driving from Geneva to Talloires weekdays in the late afternoons!
My husband and I spent four nights at this amazing Abbaye over looking Lake Annency. It was quiet, peaceful an unexpectedly magical. The staff was helpful for each question and need we had. We had a superb dinner our first evening there in the dining room. The centerpieces on the tables were apples grown in their own apple orchard. Each morning we had a buffet breakfast in the breakfast room that was delicious and had hot herbal tea that all ingredients were grown in their garden. We hope to return again very soon!
The hotel has amazing everything... views... food... the staff... the rooms were less than desirable and very small though... please try the souffle... it is the best I have ever tasted and my husband thought the wine list was the most extensive he has ever seen...
This was our first visit to Talloires. The Abbaye is almost indescribable. The atmosphere of Talloires and the Abbaye is extremely peaceful. We experienced the opportunity to shut down and relax. The added bonus of course is taking a ride into the Alps (30 min away) regardless of the time of year and of course 15 min from Annecy, the Venice of the region. I’ve attached some photos of our view from our suite. The staff was fantastic, breakfast was amazing, accommodations exceptional in every way. We’ll be back!
The staff, the rooms, the location - everything was magnificent. I can't wait to come stay again! I wanted to do more activities but I need to come in the summer time or September. It was magical! Pamela
Nice setting by the lake in old abbey with comfortable meeting rooms even with fireplace Food is nice and can be served at the outdoor terrace with lake view. WIFI and all facilities are available in meeting rooms. It can accommodate small groups up to 30 people. Service is excellent and good value for money
We didn't stay in the hotel ourselves but visited for an exhibition. We were graciously welcomed into the wonderful old building where Cezanne had stayed and loved the atmosphere and the wonderful view.
A delightful welcome, a beautiful location and an extremely interesting building. The porter who showed us to our rooms (former monks cells) was very proud and told us a lot about the history of the building. The rooms were delightful with views of the garden and lake. Perfectly clean and well appointed. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed our experience, some of the dishes merited remembering and drooling over the following day!
Tough choice between 4 and 5 score. Would have preferred espresso maker in room. Bar in basement has no view. Historic hotel is beautiful but would have preferred the luxury of nejghbor hotels like The Cottage.
