This should be 5 star because the building and public rooms are worthy of such an accolade. The dining room, lounge areas, and pool are stylish and of a high standard. The reception staff courteous, efficient and helpful - no complaints in that direction. However, there are areas that need attention. In the dining room: For dinner, the staff were polite but appeared to require some training. My wife and I sat for over 10 minutes without even being acknowledged - no menus issued, no water offered..ignored. There were two waiters and only two other tables occupied. One table was being intently looked after because a bottle of presumably expensive wine was being opened and tasted. Of course, this needed attention, but good well-trained staff would have made some approach to my wife and me, to make us feel welcome whilst attention was being given to another guest. The meal when it arrived was excellent. For breakfast, there was no one available to welcome us into the dining room and the procedure was not explained. We were yet again ignored. The second complaint was the room. First, the air conditioning would not work. It seems the patio door has to be closed and locked? Had to call reception to have that explained. We were awoken during the night because of a rattling from the AC. Tried to turn on the roof fan? batteries in the device were flat. Then some further niggles and observations. No waste bin in the bathroom; the toilet door would not close, it swung open making it awkward to use the bath/shower. No plug for the wash basin - I wet shave. The plug for the bath was rusty with a broken lead. Free WiFi but very slow and poor reception. All the above may be considered trivial by some. But if you want 5-star rating it is the attention to detail that matters. Would we stay again? - certainly - It is in many ways a lovely hotel - some training and general maintenance and it will be 5 star.
We greatly enjoyed our weekend scape at Mas Passamaner. We were delighted with the architecture of the place at our first sight. Interior design is both modern and very creative. The combination of them is outstanding. The food also deserves to be positively mentioned and the service reaches its reputation. Nevertheless, as paddel maniacs the only fall we outght to mention is the deplorable instalations of the changing rooms. Although clean, they are gloomy.
This hotel is a Monument Hotel, in fact, so it is really beautiful. The service was very nice. We got a room upgrade, so our experience was delighful. The room was big, sunny, nice decorated and clean. We went to the SPA, and we could relax a lot. We went to the restaurant from the hotel and had a great dinner. We had the breakfast there too, and was very correct. Everyone was very polite and we had a really great experience.
I have just spent a fabulous weekend in this hotel. I had been thinking of visiting it for a while but the price always put me off. As it is my birthday in a few weeks and I wanted to do something special I decided to go for it. I chose a junior suite with access to the hotel spa for two. I also chose to reserve the full board option - a choice I highly recommend. The restaurant is very good and you do save some money choosing this option if you don't plan on leaving the hotel. For a short weekend break you don't need to leave the hotel, the spa, although quite small, is good for a few hours relaxing and the hotel is surrounded by fields of olive and hazelnut trees which you can wander through at your leisure. The public areas in the hotel are perfect for curling up on a sofa with a good book. The outside areas are also very good but early December is not the best time. The hotel building was designed by the famous Catalan architect Domènech i Muntaner, who also designed the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the hotel has retained as much of the original design as possible. I stayed in one of the rooms in the main building which is worth the extra Euros. The hotel staff are excellent, the reception staff show you around the hotel and the restaurant staff are helpful and cheerful. The restaurant has a varied menu offering traditional Catalan specialities with a modern twist. The presentation of the dishes was amazing. The wine list is extensive, with wines from 20 to 1000 euros! The breakfast buffet was one of the best I have tried. I only have one complaint, the Bang and Olufsen television in the room didn't work and they were unable to fix it for me. They did offer to send up another television but as there was another one in the bedroom I said no. On checking out I would have appreciated an apology from the management about it. Otherwise, I will definitely go back to Mas Passamaner and would recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and quiet break.
We visited this Hotel/restaurant in early october. We ate a fabulous lunch - quite creative. A salmon tartare (tiny cubes of salmon) gave a wonderful texture. Wild mushrooms with shrimp - very good. A saffron coloured rice. Finally and the crowning glory was a mojito sorbet - never had anything like it before - must be one of the most delicious things i have ever tasted. We drank coffee outside which was served with a few cookies. The service was excellent. The restaurant is in a new addition to the old house. Large windows look out over some trees - there is not really a view per se. The hotel has a spa - jacuzzi, massage, tepid pool etc - very nice. I lovely large pool and terrace where during the summer lunch is served. The house has in the region of 20 rooms, we saw only one it was small but nicely appointed. The carpentry throughout is lovely and most of the windows including the glass is original. The house was built in the 20's. My one and only criticism is the insistence on trying to make things "trendy". Violet pink swaths have been painted in odd places and then emblazoned with a broad silver wiggly lines. More wiggly lines have been painted along the walls up the stairway. It appears very amateur and is a very unfortunate. It would have been infinitely better to have maintained the decor in as much aesthetic character as Domenech i Montaner had envisioned - it would have its original trendiness not this cheap attempt.
I've just spent a night there and it was a wedding present but I expected much more. I think it used to be a luxurious hotel but now one can see there's no care for detail. I used the spa and it needs maintenance and should be cleaner. I had booked a 50-min massage and got a 35-min one without telling me, it just finished before and then got charged for a shorter massage when I had booked weeks in advance. We arrived at the hotel and there was no parking space because of a wedding, so we had to park somewhere else: I wasn't told about the wedding (it's basic in a good hotel) and the wedding people should have parked somewhere else, not us! Dinner was part of the present and the menu was tasteless and service inexperienced and disorganised. There's an Italian maitre and she's so rude! Breakfast was rather poor and once bacon and eggs finished (early!) it took them ages to replace. Somebody should revise their number of stars, it's barely 3*!
Awful service, totally unimaginative food, unthoughtful staff and extremely overpriced. We arrived after a long journey from Malaga, looking for some luxury and relaxation. It took around an hour to find the hotel, as the technology didn’t recognise the location, there were no signs to it and the receptionist couldn’t direct us, although we were on an adjacent street as it worked out. As part of the greeting we were told that the hotel didn’t get the instructions that we had a dog with us, therefore they will need to charge us an additional € 40 to move us to a room with a garden. The fact that we already booked a room with a garden failed to register, so we had to pay extra 50% of the cost of the room to stay in the room that we booked originally. As a further part of the greeting we were also told that the spa will close in 5 minutes (9pm), we couldn’t have breakfast (it started at 8:30am). And we need to rush if we were thinking of having dinner. Manager was not available. We dumped our bags into a stuffy room and ran to a restaurant in hope that food might smooth the unwelcoming experience so far. The only waitress in the restaurant found it difficult to cope with 4 customer so our arrival really slowed the service down - each part of the experience took a while, from bringing the menus, to taking the order, service each of us separately. Unfortunately we couldn’t even drink our sorrows away as the wine was kept away from the table. The whole experience slowed down even further when the manager arrived with her 7 people family to have dinner. When the food did arrive we could only look at it. Partly because my husband was still waiting for his food, partly because it was very pretty but mainly because it was so bland and inedible. As we were watching the managers table being served, flies kept circling our untouched € 2.50 per person compulsory bread and we kept laughing at the extent of dirt on our cutlery and table cloths. To pay our € 110 bill we needed to go back to the reception and stand! in a queue to pay. It was 11pm by the time we managed to finish this extraordinary dining experience. Unfortunately the sleep experience was not much better. The loud conditioner was only emitting noise. This was useful when we realised that there was no noise insulation between the rooms. The amazing garden was just an overgrown patio with a fence. Direct access to our neighbours was only appreciated by our dog (we already knew a bit too much about our neighbours due to the perfect noise conducting walls). Our room also seemed to have an issue with providing hot water. Maybe a compulsory cold shower was a way to cool us down after sleeping in a very hot room? So we left this unloved hotel, promising ourselves never to come back again.
We were charmed by the photos we saw on the hotel website and decided to spend a quite weekend with our little girl. From the outside, the hotel is indeed very charming with lots of space in the common area to seat and relax. However, at closer look… it’s quite run down. The room beside us (room 204) cannot close the door properly, a big gap when it’s closed and we can see through the gap and hear the noise from inside. Our Junior Suite has a sofa bed for our little girl. It looks comfortable but in actual fact it was not. The bath tub is full of tiny insects and also some spider too which we had to have a good cleaning before using stepping inside the tub. There are big grey stain on the bed sheet too. Really didn’t expected such thing in this category hotel. The big down side for this hotel is that they don’t have a lift. The receptionist do help to carry one of our luggage up to our room but I would advise those with weak legs /knees will want to avoid this hotel. The swimming pool area is quite cozy and the pool size is quite alright but the pool water is very cloudy, you can hardly see the stairs. Greatly appreciated the staffs’ effect to make special arrangement so that we can enjoy the spa together with our little girl. Children were not allowed in the spa but they made an exception and booked the whole hour for just three of us. The spa is quite small but since it was booked for just 3 of us, we fully enjoyed ourselves! And my little girl received her birthday wish… a chocolate massage… she was on cloud nine after the massage. Last point to highlight… the most important one! That is please check with the hotel if there’s any wedding to be held during your planned stay. Avoid it at all cost if there’s a wedding plan on the same date of your stay. During our stay, they had a wedding celebration started in the evening and the outdoor disco music and dance lasted until the next morning and the music only stopped at 8:15hr. It’s impossible to sleep with the loud music, people shouting away, etc. Since we were not able to sleep because of this, we saw the wedded couple left the hotel at 9hr. I can understand if the celebration last till 2am or even 3am but not after 8am the next morning!!! The impression that I have from reading the website, this hotel is known for its charm and quietness that assured a complete rest. When we saw that the wedding started in the evening, my husband called the receptionist to ask and was assured that the noise / music will not be heard since it was at the far end of the hotel. This is completely untrue!!! We had quite a sleepless night despite the price we paid for the room.
My partner and I went to this beautiful hotel last month, and we loved everything about it. The location was perfect for a quiet relaxing break. The spa was lovely, and the paddle court was amazing. Also the people are so friendly and helpful, specially Noelia at the front desk. She helped us with everything and even helped us on getting some Barça tickets for the Osasuna game. The food is excellent and original ,and at breakfast you don't have to worry about the time. We have recommended this hotel, and we are definatly going back there again.
First class - boutique style - hotel. We were touring so only stayed one night but can honestly say that we were very impressed with the facilities of the individually styled suite (we were given an upgrade on arrival without asking - 'which was nice'!). We also loved the restaurant - enjoying an excellent dinner. The service throughout was impeccable, whilst being refreshingly personal, welcoming and informal. It is not cheap to stay here, but then if you want a five star experience you would expect to pay a reasonable sum and from that perspective, this hotel offers exceptional value.
