I have just arrived home from 1 week staying at Hotel Portaventura, there was a group of 7 of us in total. The hotel looks lovely from a distance but it is really run down, the rooms are in desperate need of attention. Very "80's" . Rooms weren't cleaned properly once all week. My bed was covered in sand the full stay, even before I'd slept in it, in fact everywhere in the room was covered in sand. The air conditioning was not turned on until 2 days before we came home, we were not told we would have no air con when booking or else we wouldn't have booked! When asked at reception about air con we were told it was something to do with the environment? Didn't come across one member of staff that could speak basic English, it was terrible trying to talk to anyone. The buffet was ok. Some nights a lot better than others. My kids didn't like anything except fish fingers and chicken strips which were only on offer maybe 3 times all week, I had to get them food elsewhere. Ferrari land is a complete waste of time, I had read reviews so knew it wasn't getting the best reviews but still went as I had to try for myself... it looks unfinished. Empty, 2 bigger rides, a play park for little ones, a ride for little ones & a simulator. Portaventura park is fantastic tho! In future will stay nearer the beach and just get a 2 day ticket for portaventura park :)
Staying here at present rooms not very clean. Food buffet style plenty of choice. Some staff very rude and unhelpful. My biggest complaint is that small children and babies are not allowed in the pools with armbands or rubber rings on. When asked why they said it was politics, they are allowed to wear swimvests just yo make other parents aware.
Stayed here for a great trip to the main theme park and Ferrari World. Hotel as you'd expect, perfectly fine if unexceptional. Clean. Long walk to some rooms. Buffet restaurant ok; plenty of quantity if fairly basic. We had booked a twin room, but apparently they don't do them so had big double bed and a decent sofa bed. All good.
We visited this hotel in the 1st week of the Easter holidays so expected it to be busy and it was! Even though there were a lot of people staying there it didn't ever seem to be too crowded apart from meal times where the buffet was served. We stayed in a brilliant room which overlooked the lake which is in the hotel grounds. The room was spacious enough for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids- 15 &11) and we can't complain about any noise. We stayed half board and the food was ok with lots of choice but glad we only stayed for 4 nights worth! Disappointingly the pools were shut so we couldn't take advantage of the glorious weather we had to have a dip (although a few sneeked in!) The hotel is right next to the Theme park which is obviously advantageous. We stayed at this hotel about 10 years ago and we enjoyed it a lot more this time round. We have also stayed at the sister hotel Caribe which is a short walk or fun train ride away. That hotel does have the better pools for the kids but we found Portaventura Hotel suited us better. The staff were good and polite so no complaints there. Theme park tickets were included in our stay but the express pass is not included as it was when we went before. It didn't bother us too much as we didn't go in the Theme park all the time but bear it in mind as the wait times in the park can be long on busy days (Express pass only gives you one shot at a few given rides anyway-and the express lines can be busy too!) We walked down into Salou on the evening (15 min walk) as the entertainment was mainly for the younger ones. We would definitely stay at the hotel again in the future.
Well managed, safe, thrilling, comfortable and enjoyable. I think those words cover it. Been there 5 times and this is the first time staying in the hotel within the park. Will be going back to stay again for sure👍👍👍
Renovation of the rooms/ bath needed. Breakfast good, very good organization of this mass of people. Parking good. Good tart for the parc, still ok for the town (which is a spanish mass tourism mess!) No indoor swimming.
Overall experience ok. Staff: helpful depends who welcomes you, always seemed very busy and just doing their job. Room; old not very well maintained, mold on the bathroom, ants on the floor and clearly thin walls. Restaurants: I think that the buffets were nice, nice mix for everyone's taste and professional. Park Aventura was good, probably the best experience. Ferrari Land was beyond disappointing and costly, the main attraction was good but very short, 3 attractions were down at the same time on the day looked like an unfinished product overall.
The gorgeous weather was for free everything else on our fabulous stay at Golden River Hotel was the best holiday investment we have made. Three children 11-17, my wife and I had a ball. Superb check-in from multi-lingual staff, all the information you need and within 30mins of arrival in the park. Our top drawer western themed lodge was two split into one - plenty of room to move, really atmospheric, comfy beds, 2 really good bathrooms and all close to the restaurant areas. We had half board and both breakfast and dinner were exceptional buffet style, great choice, quality and we were never rushed. We have been lucky to stay at Disney - Golden River tops it!
Have stayed here at this hotel for many years great staff and amazing rooms but on this last visit just returned booked a taxi at their reception to the port aventura train station which took 3 minutes! What a complete rip off the meter said 5.50 euros when we first stepped into it then 6.50 when we arrived he ended up charging me 10.50 euros for a 3 minute journey paid as needed to catch the train I will never ever book a taxi through the hotel again complete rip off furious! Would of given the hotel 5 stars but because of this I won't 😢
We were here for a week with our granddaughter ( 11 years ). Mixed feelings about this hotel. Of course you would not go for the peace and quiet but it was busy and at times noisy. First the good stuff: The food in the restaurant was generally good with some variation at dinner , plenty of fruit and salad. The staff were busy there but still helpful and friendly. The grounds were scenic and well kept and the pool looked inviting though was officially closed. This did not deter mainly hardy Brits dodging the security guards who were hell bent on preventing 'illegal dipping'. Access to Portaventura itself was easy and also included. The not so good stuff included the long queues for meals and indeed reception at the wrong times as well as the poorest maid service we have come across. Maybe we were unlucky but this included problems related to towels and toilet paper as well as the cleaning
