This Parador is a quaint hotel with historic roots. It was renovated from a historic hospital to a rustic hotel with modern amenities. Unfortunately, this parador only offers breakfast, but there is another parador in this town that serves lunch and dinner. I did not try the food at either parador. There is a bar at this parador, but it only stays open until 10PM. The staff are friendly and accomdating. For instance, they provided a charging extension for no charge. Good service and I would definitely stay again!
2 night stay. Beautiful building and lovely room with what appeared to be very new furnishings. Very clean and comfortable. Sympathetic conversion. No smoking in the cloisters despite being open to the elements meant that guests smoked in front of the building. No restaurant but a whole street of good ones very close by, so not an issue.
Easy to find this somewhat dingy parador. The other parador in this town is superior, but hard to access as it is within the walls. Our room was serviceable, had a nice view out to a garden which actually belonged to the assisted living facility next door. Service at the desk was lackluster and slow as molasses in the dining room for breakfast.
Parador Santo Domingo Bernardo is a good hotel with fine service in a nice small village, which is not as interesting as described in a lot of communications. A lot of trade appears to have been disappeared. The Parador, however, is comfortable and has a good restaurant with great local dishes.
We stayed here for two nights in early August, on a tour around the region, visiting several other Paradors but this was our first. The hotel is located right in the centre of the old town and you have to go through a pedestrianised area to reach it (by car) but the process was straightforward. The hotel itself is a delightful building right next to the cathedral. With very little Spanish we entered with trepidation but were met by a friendly smile and a very helpful lady who spoke English and got us sorted - what a relief! The room was lovely and immaculate, overlooking the central square and the food was excellent also. However, for vegetarians the main course is an issue as it's all either meat or fish.
The hotel is beautiful and has retained its historical feel. The staff were helpful. I was able to get a bag of ice from reception to soak my feet which was fantastic. No AC in the rooms but good WiFi. Restaurants within walking distance and open at 6pm so you can have an early dinner then go to bed. Good breakfast selection with wide range of food. Coffee and tea brought to your table, just have to order. One of the better hotels that we stayed at on our Camino walk.
This lovely small town has two Paradors and this is not right next to the church but on the edge of the town - still easily walkable to restaurants etc. Staff really friendly and attentive, building beautifully restored. We did not eat in there as their breakfast was expensive so we just walked to a couple of little cafes and had tortilla with coffee. The town seems to have two different focuses on food the local usual standard Italian, burger places then some more upmarket superbly presented restaurant food.
We had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant due to the excellent service . The food was good too. The reception service was not as good as at the Paradores de Caceres. But all in all an excellent Parador due to it's location.
The Parador de Santo Domingo Bernardo de la Fesneda was the first of the paradors for our Spanish road trip. It did not disappoint. The hotel is stunning in its beauty and the room made us feel like royalty. The staff was so helpful. My daughter suffered from a pulled muscle and the desk staff helped locate an emergency care facility in the town that was able to treat her. I cannot thank the Parador and their staff enough for their help and hospitality. As an added note, the town of Santo Domingo was so nice. Compact and scenic. A nice base for exploring the Rijoa region of Spain.
We were with a classic car group of some 40 plus cars so nearly 90 people, the hotel coped very well with parking around 150 mtrs away. Food was typically Parador although the breakfast was good with a very good choice of cold and hot. The rooms were old and the bathroom needed up dating.
