I was staying there during my business trip in Nantes and this hotel was not my choice so I was a bit concerned at the beginning. Well, after a few days spent at this hotel I must say that I shouldn't worry at all. Great hotel on a nice location, and the most important - with very helpful staff.
Located on the edge of Nantes as per the hotel description. The Westotel is primarily a business hotel (my reason for staying). My room was a superior on the inner side of the hotel, facing the outdoor pool. I would recommend taking one of these rooms, was large with a desk and balcony. Light and spacious enough to work for part of the day if you need to without feeling cramped. Bed was comfortable, linen crisp. Bathroom was in need of a refurbish but acceptable. Restaurant in the evening was good, plenty of tables with space outside. Food of a good standard (I had Seabass on Pebbles with spinach and potatoes, clean flavours) Breakfast was below average for a hotel of this size and price. My French colleagues had no problem with the rooms hired and the lunch buffet was light but well done.
Being there for the last ten never being disappointed. The food , the service, everything always to the top. Being in hospitality for forty years and connoisseur of good food and wine this amazing place never change.Visiting my family living nearby once a year it always a pleasure to have a lunch or dinner here . I will recommend this place to any visitors who appreciate good food at very reasonable price.
The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. There is a supermarket next to it, a McDonalds and a buffet restaurant. You aren't though aloud to have any food or drinks in your room even though there is a fridge in your room. It's there for your two complimentary waterbottles. There is a train station close to the hotel. The train to Nantes goes by once an hour. The hotel is quite old and frumpy. The public areas are very hot. First I thought that the room was quite neat, but then I begun to find hairs everywhere, an old water bottle someone had left there before me and dust in the corners. There was a rug in the room so I can't even imagine all the dust that I didn't see. All the clothes I used during my stay are covered in dust. The breakfast was quite simple and there wasn't alot variety for the cost that is 15 euros. All in all, not a horrible stay but very very average..
I stayed here for a short conference held in the neighboring meeting center. The staff was courteous on check-in. Despite the hotel seeming quite empty, rooms were not ready even an hour to two before check-in. The room was clean and quiet, though quite warm. The front desk controls the thermostat, but there appears to be no cooling capability. I was able to cool the room down by leaving the window open, but the roadside noise was too much early in the morning. The hotel location is not ideal to visit the city of Nantes. It is a ways from downtown, and there is nothing of interest in the immediate area. Fortunately, the hotel food was nice. Though I did not have a chance to check out the pool, I did visit the fitness room. It was terrible and bare. Only a few treadmills and cycle. The treadmills were in bad shape, with terrible slipping of the tread when trying to walk or lightly run. Seems dangerous. Overall, worked ok for a meeting but not ideal for tourists wanting to see Nantes.
I usually publish hotels which let me or my family down. Let me do the opposite - praise a hotel which sorted out a problem, caused by others, without a question. Hotels.com booked me into Golden Tulip of Carquefou. It turned out the Golden Tulip was oversold and sent me a message the evening before my arrival, referring me to Westotel (I am not sure who caused the issue, Golden Tulip or Hotels.com). When I came to Westotel it was full, nevertheless they saved my day and found me a room. Much appreciated! Other than that Westotel is clean, well maintained and works flawlessly (another plus for their huge free car park). A pleasant stay of the kind you enjoy when you spend your eighth night in eighth different hotel room.
Well I thought I'd saved the best for last being or was a four star ⭐️. I couldn't have been further from the truth. Don't get me wrong on arrival I was upgraded to a better double over looking the pool courtyard. But on first arriving they couldn't find my booking which after a two hour drive didn't really go down well. But moving on.. I was given my key to room 272 located miles away from lift on level two. You need to be fit to stay here. Which on the subject of fitness the hotel has a fitness suite & sauna. Located in different rooms. Key card access only. Mine only worked on the sauna door. But reception staff after two attempts & a 20 minute wait insisted that it worked. After my second failed attempt I gave up as the staff really are NOT very approachable!! I went back to my room & waited for dinner. Which along with breakfast are my only real positives about the hotel. My lovely room upgrade however left me with a bathroom which was dated & provided NO hot water!! Apparently this too is NOT an issue & was like water off a ducks back when I mentioned it on checking out. I will not be staying again or be recommending your hotel to any of my fellow travelers.
When I stay in a 4 stars hotel, I expect a 4 stars breakfast, and this breakfast was not up to my expectation. Buffet offering was similar to any 3 stars French hotel with packed food of low quality; furthermore when I walked into the room, nobody was there to welcome me. A waiter showed up when I set down with my canteen-style tray, just to invite me to change table!!!!!! A real deception . . Andvthe cherry on top was the liw quality of the espresso. All self-service, of course!
You feel like your are in a holiday hotel here. It's really nice, busy but in a good way. Nice pool. 2 mins from a retail park and macdonalds ( which we totally wanted after a week sailing!) and 3 mins from the really lovely village. Good value. Clean and very comfy
Stayed there for the second time, 12.07 - 13.07. What I really like: parking space in front of hotel, nice spacious rooms, a private balcony, nice staff, near to the highway, a big supermarket in about 300 meters away. I will come back for a third visit in autumn!
