This hotel is very conveniently located in the central district of the city,so it is relatively easy to use it as a base for going to many different places. Apart from taxis, there are also local buses that stop close to the hotel and there is a subway (underground) station not far away, within walking distance. Inside the hotel, the rooms are very nice - clean, comfortable and well equipped. What makes the hotel really stand out in my mind is the friendliness and helpfulness of many of the staff. I can't remember the names of all of them but certainly Ada and Kristin are two of those whose helpful and cheerful attitude made a big impression and would make me want to stay here again. purposes
I stayed twice at the Crowne Plaza City Centre Kunming twice, once on May 20 and once on June 6 as I was arriving in Yunnan for a botanic trip. I arrived after midnight, jet-lagged after almost 24 hours of travel and found the hotel to be beautiful, and well maintained. My room was clean, modern, quiet and spacious. But one thing that really impressed me was the concierge, Kevin Li. He was instrumental in contacting my airline to ensure that my lost luggage made it to the hotel before I had to transfer to the next hotel midday where I was to meet my tour group. Because I was going on a trek and leaving Kunming the next morning, if he hadn't worked so hard to find it, I would have been without the equipment and clothing I needed to make the trek. His English was very good and he was very helpful and kind. Having someone I could communicate with because I don't know Chinese made a huge difference. The hotel has a huge complimentary breakfast buffet which I was able to enjoy on my first stay but not my second because I had an early morning flight. Most of the dishes were typical Chinese breakfast fare but it also included many types of fresh fruits and juices, muffins and pastries, eggs and some breakfast meats for the western palate. I thought the Chinese breakfast was delicious and varied. All the hotel staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. I would definitely stay there again if I travel to Kunming.
Alway stay in IHG hotel, and they never let me down!hotel located in the downtown, near by the shopping center and have a lot of local food restaurant, which was very delicious. room is big and clean, staff are very helpful and professional, helped us a lot. especially for the front office stay, they are very warm and sweet and concierge staff also gave me a lot of suggest for there can we have a nice tour. there has a river outside with pretty views. The price also not expensive, and i got a free.upgrade to.the club room, which was very surprised. there also has a spa at six floor, which can let me get some relax after work. anyways, higly suggest this hotel for stay, i believe you will like it very.much.
The room was very nice,, very clean. Same standard as the US. However a very large construction job is right beside the hotel. Nigh time was ok but during the day is very noisy. The breakfast is ok but not as elaborate as most Crown Plaza hotels. Oh, you must have the key perfectly aligned with the lock or it will not work.
We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a great cleaning staff. The food service and bar on the other hand were terrible. The bar has a poor selection of beer, improperly trained bartenders and are over priced. The food service is extremely slow and in Chinese fashion, blames the problems on someone else. We ordered food an hour before we had to leave for the airport, we wanted to eat in the restaurant. After asking multiple times for our food, we ended up having to eat our food in the car on the way to the airport. Does it take an hour to make a sandwich? If you have three chefs on staff, why does it take so long? Stay at this hotel but eat somewhere else.
We checked in Crowne Plaza in the evening after returning to Kunming from Shanagri-la. The hotel is conveniently located in the city centre of Kunming. There are many shops and restaurants around. Our room facing a construction site was noisy, though spacious and well appointed. The breakfast buffet had a good spread. We chose this hotel for the convenience of visiting the night market. A room far away ftom the construction site would have been better.
Nicely appointed hotel with inadequate air conditioning. In a suite, the heat in the sitting area, made its use unbearable: bedroom OK. The Executive lounge was a joke in the evening. The soft beverage refrigerator was tiny with an inadequate selection of drinks. We used the last can of soda water and in five days it was never restocked. Rarely were there two wine glasses available. The lounge is opened to 2300, but the last vestige of something to eat disappears at 1930. Thereafter there is not a crumb to be found. During dinner, guests and employees come to the buffet with plastic containers which they fill. When the food is gone it is not replaced, so come early and dress lightly as the room is very hot.
The room at Crowne plaza hotel was perfect, it had everything I needed. The room was extremely well equipped with complimentary coffee , tea, water and milk. It was spacious and clean and met all our needs. There is a sophisticated pillow menu and live tennis on TV. The food here is delicious and the staff are friendly. We will come here again.
The rooms and the daily servicing of the rooms was excellent, the club floor dining was good although the food choices of an evening became quiet repetitive over 6 days. The service in all other areas was more than satisfactory but once again the only downside was the lack of english skills. If Kunming is to move forward in tourism they must embrace the need to improve their understanding of the english language.
The hotel's location is convenient, although not exactly in Kunming City Center as hotel's title claims. The room was specious, but very tired and really needed the management's attention to improve their housekeeping and maintenance. I was really disturbed by the bad odor from bathroom and toilet drain. The shower had mold in some corner which could easily be rid off if the room attendants paid attention. Their towels would not absorb the water, so annoyed when you dried your body. I thought this would be only in the guest rooms, but the public washroom in the main lobby showed similar condition. Perhaps, this is common in China. Buffet breakfast offered great varieties, both Chinese and Western items, but the quality of food and presentation were poor. I saw some slogan in the hotel which said "Small things make a big difference", but apparently, this was not in the staff's mentality yet.
