The front desk did an unbelievably lousy job for check-in. It took her more than 30 minutes to look up the system and finally dug out our reservation info. We booked two rooms, however only one room was ready at 4:30pm while the other room was still in housekeeping! Just CANNOT BELIEVE it’s an INTERCONTINENTAL!! Definitely the worst check-in experience we have ever had with a 5-star chain. Stay away from this hotel!!
Wonderful place, with beautiful garden. Big design rooms with beautiful bathroom. Very clean and very nice breakfast. Service was great from reception till room service. We really enjoyed our time here.
This hotel is about 15mins out from the main part of town, with views of a lake from some angles. The hotel is huge with seven buildings arranged around a landscaped water feature garden. They have a large indoor pool and hot tub complex and all the facilities you'd expect including kids club. They have a few restaurants to choose from and a comprehensive buffet offering if you enjoy that. This is a well run, high quality hotel with not much to fault it. We were well looked after with very quick response times to questions and requests. Thanks to David and Sakura for their kind attention.
The receptionist emerged to check us in,apologising with overt lack of sincerity, for the delay. Her puzzled stare at her computer screen did not inspire confidence. I was told to go to my room and the luggage would follow. It did not. When I went back to reception, a manager asked the receptionist whether I was being helped (with luggage). She said yes, but failed to add 30 mins late. Room service was a comedy of errors, starting with the operator who did not know what "room service" was and put me through to the restaurant. A simple order of standard asian dishes was all too much to take. "My colleague will call you back". I gave up trying to order wine. The hotel itself is very impressive and an excellent example of the Hilton design brand but the level of competence of staff and the SOPs for common things are the worst I have come across for years, and far inferior to their own hotel in Shenzhen. Language is an issue but this is a 5 star hotel in an international tourist city. My initial 60 minutes in this lovely location left me seething.
Some rooms we need to travel around 1 km from the reception. Big rooms with all facilities. Need to walk a lot to reach restaurant / reception. Lake around the hotel is beautiful. Almost all rooms have a good view point.
Had been at this Lavish Hotel in November 2018 for a conference. Oh what a property? Lavish is not the word. Lived there 3 nights Maharajah style. Only drawback it was away from the city centre and we had to travel quite a lot to do some shopping, where language again is a big issue. Even the restaurant staff would not know English and they would give you a spoon if you ask for sugar, but always happy to help with a charming smile.Nevethless the hotel facilities and the decor is excellent and it would score 10 over 10 for everything they offer.
Excellent property adjacent to Kunming International Convention Centre. Good rooms and sumptuous food spread for breakfast and dinner. Committed service on any specific requirements. You need to walk little wrong if your room is in the farther blocks. Exclusive ambience and comfortable surroundings. Communicating to service personnel will be little difficult unless you speak Chinese. Happy stay.
Everything about the hotel was good and on par with their other hotels with one exception. When we tried to go to the airport they tried to make us share a taxi with someone else who was going “1 km” away. If you have this issue tell them sternly that you do not want to share a taxi with anyone. My only regret is that I didn’t film the whole situation (because I was busy instructing the hotel staff and taxi driver to get another taxi) and send it to their HQ. What an embarrassment for a “5 star” hotel.
This luxury resort located at the North side of the largest Dianchi Lake of Kunming. It is far out from Kunming Centre, good to spend a few day in the lake side, with nice restaurants and tourist attractions nearby. The rooms are big in size, neat, clean, well equipped, comfortable bedding and soft fresh towels. The staffs are all polite and helpful. Delicious Buffet Breakfast served both Chinese and Western dishes. I would rate it 5 stars+ instead of Tripadvisor's 4.5 stars I stayed only 1 overnight which wasn't sufficient time to explore this resort, will definitely plan more days if I shall return.
Stayed here for 3 nights as a delegate of an industry convention. Hotel is much too large and spread out in acres of land. Those who stay in blocks 7 or 8 have to walk over 10 minutes to reach the room from reception. It’s a grand and vast property. Rooms are very large and well appointed as per international standard. Downside is language. Very few staff members can speak English. Restaurant is big and the food is great with many options. Staff is friendly and professional. I wonder how FIT must be feeling in a convention hotel when convention is in progress because at times it becomes very noisy and crowded when all the guests come to restaurant at same time. One can walk to the lake nearby and feed the birds. It’s a wonderful experience. Overall hotel is great and highly recommended.
