Excellent service, fantastic bungalow and a staff full of kindness and professionalism. The stay has been fantastic and what we were looking for to escape from the tourism, the massification and rest to be able to from there to visit many places -- Have to know what you are looking for and what you want, it is not a resort for many tourists, Islanda is whose want to escape the mass, meet all people of our countrie in all places and have total satisfaction. ISlanda is perfect to find provacity and relax total. Delicius food, musin and cocktails of Lounge Bar . The team staff always lends to the customer and to take care tem. A real pleasure to find this resort in Kraby. We will repeat for sure. Only detail always you must know the rhythtm of life the asian´s people is diferent to occident people ..You´re go of their countries you must have open mind!
You may have read the previous reviews regarding this resort bring isolated from the main town of Krabi. Yes, that is correct. It can take you 45 mins travel from the resort to town. But believe it or not, that's the fun part. To get to the island resort you take a 5 to 10 minute long boat ride to the island of Koh klang. When you arrive on the island it is then a half hour tuk tuk tide to the resort. The longboat ride is about 50thb and tuk runs 200 bht. The hotel pays for a one way boat/tuk tuk on checkin/checkout. The tuk tuk ride takes you through rural fishing type villages where you really see Thai village life. The villages are predominantly Muslim communities so women will need to dress modestly. The resort itself is fantastic with direct beachfront overlooking the islands in the Andaman sea such as Phi Phi Islands. Sunsets are amazing. The accommodation is unique. Huts with outdoor showers. We had a beachfront hut which had a day bed on balcony with a bathtub. Modern furnishings in the room the only criticism of the room was the beds were a tad hard! Lovely swimming pool area. Restaurant menu has s good mix of Thai and western meals. The food is good but s bit on the expensive side. If I could make a recommendation to the hotel I would suggest implementing full or half board meal packages to assist guests as there are no other restaurants on the island. Me Big is the ultimate host and will cater to your every need. The staff of the resort really go beyond with customer service which was truly appreciated. Thank you for a lovely unique holiday.
Great place to really get away from other people. The pad Thai is delicious! They have a happy hour daily right now - 2 for 1. So nice to come here during low season where you pretty much get the resort to yourself (there are currently two other couples here). They can help you arrange an island hopping tour so you can get the quintessential beach experience. This place is sooo relaxing.
Negatives As other people mentioned before it s a bit of a mission to reach the resort it s not really well explained when you book and you have to pay extra of course... As you are far from everything you are a bit stuck in the resort so you have get everything from the restaurant bar that is often 3 times the price that you will pay in town Massage was 1300 bath you can get the same for 300, i had to tell the lady it was 90 minutes as she stoped 20 minutes earlier Most of the staff don t speak good english Very friendly good points Room was very good with dvd player and movies on tv plus complimentary tea -coffee Would be good to have better pillows at least thiner.. i love to swim and the swimming pool is the must of the resort, perfect temperature not to much clore i enjoyed it so much :) If you want to be relaxed and to be cut of the outside world you will love it Bar makes amazing cocktails Don t miss the happy hour 2 for one Food is great even if it s really expensive for thailand Greats selections of movies All the latest movies are available To sum up The facilities etc of the resort are great perfect to relax but be prepared to ad an extra 50-100 minimum per day on top of yr booking as you are totally dependent on the resort
Great experience!!! Totally worth the money. We reached the lagoon by our own. Taken to the boat lagoon, our hotel rep was there waiting to take us by boat to the pier. Then a tuk tuk ride to our hotel, was fun a little adventure to start our stay.we then checked in and went to our bungalow which had a beach view with breathtaking views of the sea and islands off to the horizon. Spectacular.
We where picked up at airport by our driver happily waiting for us. We were over the moon. The hotel room was fantastic too. Seperate bedroom to kitchen and bathroom. Great hotel to stay highly recommend to stay here fantastic staff very helpful.we also were very luck as there wasn't many people Staying actually it felt like we were the only people there. It was off season.
How people have given this place bad reviews is beyond me! I'm quite a fussy traveler but this place was unreal - a true hideaway yes cut off from the hustle and bustle but an amazing place to stay and you're really looked after! We were booked in for one night and the end of our Thai trip and we ended up booking a second night and cut out Bangkok as we loved it that much. Mr Big is an absolute delight and so friendly. I travelled with my 7 year old who equally loved this place - especially the journey to get here! I will be going back to krabi next year just to stay here again!
Location- Getting there is tedious. Take a ferry from Thara Pier near Krabi Marina ,cross the river and take Tuk Tuk ( a modified motorbike with third wheel on side). Tuk tuk takes around 20-25 minutes going through remote village & swamps . On the tuk tuk journey itself , we started wondering if we had taken a right decision in coming here. And the journey costs 240 Baht per two persons. Same applies when you want to go for any outing except the tuk tuk from the hotel is free. At last when we reached the hotel, the first view of the so called beach was depressing. It's a muddy desolate stretch of black sand with no water in sight. All the photographs are taken when high tide brings the sea close. Otherwise it's just wet sand & mud. Check in- check out was prompt . Not much interaction with staff but most of them don't understand English clearly. Their premium Ocean Front bungalow , nothing much to write about. Not good Aircon performance in hot weather. The washroom is open on sides , just wooden walls till 6-7 feet. You get a clear view of sky & surrounding bungalows.Safety might be an issue as anyone can enter your bungalow by scaling the front door or the walls of the washroom. Its eerie at night. If you are vegetarian food is real problem. Pls carry some food. The breakfast is ok but go early. Otherwise you might have do with single helpings. We checked out in a day even though the booking was for two days.
Beautiful secluded resort to get away from the crowd. Interesting bungalows with a nice setting. Good place to go to if you're trying to get the "amazon" feel to your trip. Worth at least one night and staff was extremely friendly. Daily activities for excursions and staff were very helpful with booking them (great prices). Mr. Big is the man with all the right answers :)
While in Bangkok for the Thai International Medical Center , I finished up a week early and Islanda offer popped up on my travel site with a beautiful beach side pool . I jumped on the booking & that pool is great but it comes with a Bonus . . . NO cars ! After weeks of crazy claustrophobic Bangkok traffic jams , discovering the Islanda traffic jam , 2 tuk-tuks passing each other so having to slow down as very sweet . A whole week without cars , just doing island things was wonderful . Of course there are millions of people who are burned out from traffic gridlock and if they discover Islanda , it may be hard to get future bookings so maybe we should keep it a secret ! An Important FYI for now : Most important is to schedule your airport transfer with hotel directly because their pier & boat are far safer than the public pier on the North West side . If you must use the public pier , wear shoes with maximum traction as it's cobbled together from scraps & is slippery . I would Not recommend it for anyone with luggage .
