Stayed here in transit before heading to Kundasang. The room I had has no window and the room has the wooden/ moldy smell. The toilet looks old with a 'gayung' for use instead of a bidet. My friend's look better than me so I guess I'm just dealt a bad hand. However, the breakfast is decent and for the price we paid it is OK
Very strategic location. We walked from the hotel to Jesselton point jetty, to Philippine market, to Waterfront and Sinsuran Market. Gaya Street Market on Sunday is just behind the hotel. Easy access to bank, restaurants and many others. Parking was a bit difficult, but we managed to find one everytime we went outside. The room was ok, although I would say that it was not at maximum cleanliness. But since we spent most of our time outside, we couldn't be bothered by the room.
The receptionists are helpful, friendly and efficient. We arrived at 10 am and the hotel staff allowed us to leave our baggage in the hotel as we decided to walk around KK city centre whilst waiting for the 2 p.m. check in time. Our room was conveniently located in front of the water filter, good initiative from the hotel in saving the environment by reducing distribution of bottled water.
Highly recommended! We are from K.L. We like the environment of the hotel. Cleanliness is perfect and quiet although my room is facing road view. The room we request is so spacious and hotel also provide water dispenser for guest. Location of hotel is wise. Restaurants, shopping mall, 24 hours convenience store, bakery shop etc is surrounding the hotel.
... we were not as lucky as the others & was given a non-refurbished room. The room was very dated & old. They even still use that bulky tv set & that side table switches that i'd last seen during my childhood. Bathroom was acceptable but felt unclean. If you ever visit, do make sure that you request for a refurbished room. Definitely not worth the amount that we've paid. But the staff were pretty friendly so at least that's a positive experience
The Hotel is located at the perfect area that you may just walk around to nearby Shopping Mall, Waterfront, Filipino Market, Seafood Bazar & more. Rooms are very clean, although i have booked Superior Room, upon check in I was not happy with the room size, and the room assign for me was the Old Room which have not done the renovation yet. The Front office Manager - Uddin Ali was a Superb guy who has shown me a selection of Suite Room for me to upgrade, of coz base on my willingness to upgrade to a better room with some amount :) I was very much happy with the room and service extended. Kinabalu Daya has a very good team managing it and this should be one of the main reason for me to come back here in future. Thanks Uddin !
Location is excellent everywhere you can walk. Eating no problem you can find easily. The staff is so friendly where I was check in till check out. Deluxe room thats the room I check in. No comments in this room everything perfect. Breakfast no comments. I will return to stay here.
This hotel was previously managed by Best Western. Have stayed there a number of times due to its location and price. My last stay was in April 2017. Stayed in deluxe room. Nothing to shout about but the room is clean. Have also stayed in the suite which is something like an apartment with a small sitting area and microwave and flat screen tv. However, do not take the rooms without windows if you are not comfortable in small confined space. Wifi is provided but very slow. Breakfast is very basic but they do have omelette, fried egg and half boiled egg. Not much spread (roughly 3-4 selections. Forget about the Malaysian nasi lemak - its not a standard dish for this hotel! Location wise, its great.
I would check in to this hotel again for my short solo visit. Location is strategic. My room has the view of the straight Gaya Road and the ocean. Breakfast spread was OK, however the potato wedges kinda stale though. Overall, the experience was alright.
This hotel is located just opposite Wisma Merdeka and very near to Suria Sabah shopping mall. It offer breakfast, although not much choices and is without swimming pool. There are plenty of rooms that are quite cheap and cozy. However the lights are not enough in the room that makes my eyes not comfortable. Kettle to boil is provided but the funny thing is perhaps in order to protect the environment, this hotel do not provide bottled water. Instead it provide a glass bottle without lid, and its bottle mouth is covered by a plastic bag. For me it is quite funny because the hotel can actually use glass bottle with lid, which i think will be more hygiene. I never drink the provided water but i boil water myself. Because who knows how long the water was being put there and whether the water was boiled or not. I checked out early in the morning at 6am so i requested take away breakfast. But i was really disappointed to see a hotel using styrofoam to put an orange, a sandwich and a hard boiled egg. I would like to suggest them to use paper bag or other more environment-friendly packaging. Is still a nice and cozy hotel because its location is really good and s not expensive.
